Just picked these up last week and have been immensely pleased. As someone who needs a moderate stability road shoe I highly recommend this as a daily trainer. Thanks!
Seth! Thanks for reminding me about Coach McGee. You know he was a programmer by trade but taught HS honors math so he could coach. They used to have rules (at least where I grew up) that all coaches had to work for the school. I heard some years later he left teaching to be a computer scientist at Siemens.
Seth because of your videos, I got into running shoes as a hobby. I work at a sams club and a good conversation starter is talking about the running shoes they have on. Head up quick feet pump arms!
QOD: My husband Rod is interested in you . We watch your videos. You're an amazing role model. Rod finds your videos extremely helpful. I know NOTHING about running and I enjoy your videos.I love True Love. She's amazing. All our love from our family in Ireland 🇮🇪 to you and yours. Take care Denise x
QOD: Running and weightlifting. I could talk for hours about both. I don’t normally meet too many people who are as intrigued by both as I am and it’s usually written all over their face when I’m talking about either of those topics.🤣
we have same passion here! both world not really allign because long run cause muscle shrinking & muscular leg cause heavy stride but i’ve been doing it almost 12 years & love it!
There are so many things that vanish like reading real books, listening to Vinyl or CDs or just the capacity of taking time and absorb experiences. I love these moments of quality and simpleness. GREETINGS FROM SALZBURG/AUSTRIA!!!
Qd: I'm a homebrewer, have done it for almost 10 years. Too much beer was the reason I started running :) brewed well over 100 brews in that time and love the process of experimenting and I very rarely rebrew the same beer.
QOD: Back in the 70s and 80s I wore glasses. I always wanted to be an airline pilot, But you had to have 20 20 vision. My dream job didn't happen but I found a Flight Simulator. Throughout the years The Flight Simulators got more and more realistic. About 20 years ago I joined a virtual group that flies online. To this day, I still enjoy popping out my flight simulator on my computer and fly to various airports mostly in the United States. A very fun hobby! Keep the vids coming Seth from a longtime watcher and runner!!!!
@@willv88 Same changes as the Guide. So more cushion (Saucony employee told me more than the Hoka Clifton) and it feels quite a bit softer. More of a rocker ride and the upper feels more breathable and a bit more accommodating. It honestly felt like a cross between the Hoka Clifton and Brooks Glycerin.
Hi Seth. The numbers indicate you are in ~2:21:30 shape, based on your tuneup race (with liberal consideration of the race conditions) and workout efforts. Thus, breaking 2:21:30 at Rotterdam will demand a hard, respectable effort (although it might be worse if something goes wrong, and/or you go out too hard and give up more on the back-end). So what is necessary to get you back to that 1:05.xx fitness you displayed in Naples, Florida, and what is necessary to extend that Half-fitness out to the Marathon-distance? Maybe we can discuss it later while contemplating a serious qualifier attempt at 2023 Chicago (with 2023 CIM as a backup).
Brooks Chariot! I was also turned on to the Chariot in High School! Gotta love that grey on grey colorway with grey laces! The first running show I remember with a dual density midsole and board-lasted; stable as a finely constructed New England cabin! That shoe changed my life! Been running in Brooks since 1983!
I remember the Brooks Chariot...they had a wedge of harder material in the midsole that got thicker towards the inside to control pronation. It was a version of the Brooks Varus Wedge which was used on the Vantage shoe...just some 80's running shoe factoids there!
I have found past Saucony Guides to be a bit stiff and always preferred the Ride. The Ride 15 sounds like a significant upgrade and I'm looking forward to hearing your review once it is "in the house!"
I had a pair of Rides at the start of last year that just really hurt to wear. I ran a lot in Brooks Adrenalines but the Rides just did not feel right. However, I run in neutral shoes now.
recently I had to end a marathon training cycle due to a torn Achilles. I have always been interested in podcasts so I took the “dive” (thanks to some encouragement from Seth) and have launched my podcast that will focus on the logistics behind organizing the big events we all love. When one door closes, another one opens. I hope to be on the trails soon and conquer the next race, wherever that may be. Thanks Seth for your daily inspiration and zest for life. It keeps us going when we have to pivot in a new direction
@@louklein7143 I’ll reach out to Seth To make sure he is ok with me linking the podcast. You can click on my page and the podcast link is in the banner my first official podcast drops tomorrow with my cohost
I ran in the Brooks Chariot back in the day. I was also an overpronator but now I am fully into cushioned neutral shoes. Personally, the Brooks Ghost has been pretty solid for me, but also the ON Cloudflyer has been awesome!! ON Cloudflyer, for me, is hands down the best most versatile running shoe. While the Ghost is a long run shoe, the Cloudflyer can do long runs, short runs, medium runs, races, some easy dry trails, speed workouts, and even just casual walking. About my change in shoe type, I think as I got older my muscles developed and I just became stronger. That made it so I could use my body more efficiently and rely less on the shoes to make corrections. Anyway, shout out to the Brooks Chariot back in the day!!!!
As an overpronator with flat feet i really can't decide to buy this Guide 15 or Cloudflyer 4. Can you help me? Guide 15 is about €120 and Cloudflyer is €170. I don't know what will be the best option for my big sized feet with medium arch feet and overpronation.
@@unYso - Personally, I think the ON Cloudflyer are the way to go. The new version is out but you can get a reasonably priced older model. They are the ones I have used and rave about. I haven’t run in the new ones, but my guess is they are as good as the previous model. I will also say, I swapped the insoles for some more cushioned insoles. That also made a huge difference. I swap out all my insoles. Running shoe makers really fall short with insoles, but that is just me. Hope this information helps.
I'm not sure if it's the shoe or your pace you're running in a couple of clips but I noticed your footstrike is much more on the forefoot than I'm used to seeing.
If I recall correctly, the Brooks Chariot was the first running shoe to use the dual density diagonal rollbar. The Nike Daybreak from around the same time was a wide base straight lasted shoe. I wore the Daybreak but not the chariot.
Teachers like that are one in a million. Most don't give a damn if you succeeded or failed in school (or life). Guide 15...good shoe to put on anyone's shor-list...
I have low to moderate overpronation and I just use neutral shoes. The best stable neutral shoes just needs to have carbon ( high durability) rubber at the heel to last longer for runners that overpronate. Normally the brands puts carbon based only in half of the heel( outside edge) area and not where overpronators needs it the most. The middlesole comes in second place only of importance . The carbon based rubber is still more important to me in a shoe that will last a very long time and it will not have to autocorrect my steps to be able to contain some of my overpronation. Get a shoe like the New Balance 1080v11. It lasted to me a bit more then 200 miles ! But if it had the carbon based rubber in the other half of the heel area as well , the shoe would have lasted to me really 300 -400 miles instead. With that in mind I would not even consider getting a NB Vongo X 1080.
QOD: I absolutely love looking at the teachings of Jesus through a Jewish lens that we normally don’t see through American eyes. I’m a big fan of Ray Vander Laan and his “That the World May Know” video series that brings out so much Jewish richness from Scripture
Would the Hoka Arahi 6 be in this same group? I have the Endo Speed 1s and bought the Arahi 6 for my longer easy runs for a little extra support for my form falling apart and ankles rolling in. Didn’t know this shoe was coming out lol. Oh well.
Are the rubber outsoles on the new Kinvara, Ride and Axon the same as that on the Endo Speeds? Because as much as I love and keep buying and racing on the latter, I don’t even quite get 200 mi on them due to the fact I supinate a bit and the outer edge wears through long before the rest of the shoe is done.
Hey Seth, I would like to make a suggestion to you. Whenever you give figures for a durometer score, you should always include the scale of that number, that’s coming form a mechanical engineer senior student. Thing is like saying I just ran 5. But of course you don’t know if it’s 5 miles, meters, kilometers or whatever.
Hi Seth, I recently bought these shoes, but they get soaking wet quickly if there is minimum amount of water on the road. Do you think is normal? Thank you!
Does anyone think this shoe might put some stress on the Achilles? I started running in this shoe in April and I've been dealing with heel pain, diagnosed as insertional Achilles tendonitis - Hard to say since I run in several different shoes (Saucony or Hoka versions) but this issue really seemed to start then. Looking at the shoe I can almost see how the heel of the shoe tilts inward.
Haha! 880 yards is exactly 1/2 mile. Historic distance and run in competition in the US prior to the change in track & field (athletics) to the 800 meter run event. The tracks used to be 440 yards until most new built tracks made the change to 400 meters in the 90s/00s.
