LOVE the Kinvara 14. The Kinvara line has been hit or miss with me over the years (generally hit), but I think the 14 is the best installment yet. This shoe-which came to being at the advent of minimalism-has stayed relevant in an age of max cushion, carbon plates, and super foams.
Still running in my K14s from time to time just to get something different under foot. I’ll also note I’ve ran some of my best track workouts in this shoe. Still prefer the speed 3 but for the price this shoe is a great buy, no doubt.
Normally, I'm not drawn to gadget-y type innovations, but I really like that glowing feature. As someone who runs in the dark a fair amount, being able to see your feet can give quite a bit of confidence on rough pavement. And the paisley is pretty! I like the grey-aqua when it's not lit up, too.
Thanks for the video Edd, your dulcet tones were a welcome winter warmer. Do you think these are comparable to the Nike Streakfly? To me they appear to be quite similar, though the Streakfly does have that stabilising shank. What say you, shoe savant?
I stumbled onto an unadvertised REI special of USD 59.93 for the citron/black colorway, in my size, yesterday. I snapped them up and am looking forward to some fun runs!
Big fan of the Kinvara 13, so this seems like a better, lighter version of it. Really underrated shoe in my view, they always seem to be both comfy and fairly nimble.

Have used the kinvera since V3..it was OK until the rebel came out..if it had fuel cell foam it would still be one of my favorites..as it is time is leaving it behind..the rebel is nearly perfect and as I have a bunch of them I'm in good shape for the foreseeable future ..the downside is they changed the insole to the spongey one so I can't just buy a batch to take out the insole for my racing shoes..for many years it was my go to insole..unfortunately no one makes a good insole and even the Saucony is only good for about 50mi until the forefoot area is thin as writing paper..I do love the drop and flexibility and weight and breathability and is probably the best Saucony shoe regardless of price for me..
This shoe was a complete surprise to me. I got this on sale in India for around $60 USD and I've put in 300+ Kms within 5 weeks of getting it. I was using the Deviate Nitro 2 + Novablast 3 before this and completely stopped using them now. I thought the mid sole was a bit stiff for the first 20-30kms and then just came alive on a faster run. It felt like the Takumi Sen 9 without that added support of the energy rods. I'm just reaching for this shoe for all my runs now and at the risk of reaching the 500 Km mark very soon 😂
This one always seems to just pass me by. Does seem a bit like say the Adios 8 or Hyperion Tempo - seemingly a good "budget" lightweight shoe but is there really a demand for it especially with the Endophin Speed from Saucony. Never quite understood the 4mm drop here either when otherwise Saucony "super" shoes are 8mm. Am always a bit or wary of lower drop shoes mainly as not used to them although I do note you had no issues there. Also, of late been enjoying the Pro 3 and Elite for some of my sessions so again I probably would find it hard to place it in my rotation. It also looks rather wide for such a light shoe. You have bunching so hate to think how much I would have.
I really want a pair in the blue color you just showed but we can't find them here in Canada. Well because it's Canada and they won't import everything.
@@EDDBUD Delightful to watch, thanks. It’s perhaps a sign I should try the Kinvara again (have not tried the last 3-4 versions…) 😅 Being a light runner I enjoy the light shoes. I really like the Pro 3. I guess the Kinvara 14 will have a similar fit?
Feels like this shoe has been out for ages but in the last week several reviews have popped up. I love the 13 and this seems a little more of the same, I’m currently 200 miles in and it’s all fine.
Imagine another contender in this category thats also low drop but has a full Pebax midsole with no plate. The wide platform paired with low drop and low stack keeps the all Pebax midsole fairly stable, unlike the Nike Invincible. A shoe that's even lighter and more cushioned and has more rubber on the outsole than the Kinvara 14. The rubber is very thin however similar to the Sketchers Razor 3. A shoe with a OrthoLite insole that offers very mild arch support instead of that flat feeling you get from other shoes in this category. A solid stretchy upper that doesn't feel like a racing flat even though the shoe feels weightless on foot. As a heavier runner, it never fully bottoms out but still maintains ground feel but not in a harsh way if your a midfoot or forefoot striker. The shoe I'm talking about is the Topo Cyclone 2. I tried the Kinvara 14 out by running in them in a mini mall. They feel pedestrian compared to the Cyclone 2. I use to be a fan and race in the Kinvara 6 back in the day.
Question for Edd and the viewers! What do you guys prefer? The endorphin speed 3 , endorphin pro, or this kinvara? I’m usually team ASICS but I’ve had one pair of sauconys and they were amazing. I just picked up the endorphin pro 2 at a discounted price but I might pick up another par 😂
How would this compare to the Ride 15 / 16? I’ve seen the Ride 17 is going to be a big departure from what makes the 15 enjoyable for me, so now I’m eyeing up alternatives for when my Rides wear out.
I never understand why reviews make so much out of how reflective shoes are. Surely it make more sense to be more visible on your upper half rather than one of the smallest parts of your anatomy that is likely to be obscured. No harm in having extra reflectivity I suppose but I always find it odd.
@@EDDBUD i went half size down on k12. actually that's my true size but most have narrow toe box i got used to buying half size up that i already consider it my true size. going half size down with k12, it feels good that the length is just right
