I need to report again that I watched this with my 18 month old and she lit up when she heard the ‘good moooorning RU-vid!’ and cheered the run footage. She recently learned how to say shoe so seeing shoes on the screen gets her so excited. Have video for proof, but you’ve got such a little fan!

We have moved too far as far as cushioning is concerned. Triumph 17-19 used to have 32/24mm PWRRUN+ stack, which was considerably more firm and yet we were talking about it in the context of plush, soft, long run shoes. Now we have Ride 17 with a midsole both higher and softer, and the shoe lighter. And it's only talked about as a good daily trainer, but not really soft for the truly long or recovery runs. Back in 2017 when EVERUN was firstly introduced (original version of PWRRUN+) and original Freedom ISO was released, that shoe had a stack of 22/17mm and it was considered and reported (on a scale at Saucony website) as soft and plush, the shoe was ranked as a supershoe, with EVERUN being a superfoam. And here we are. It's 2024 and shoes with a huge slab of 35/27mm of ever softest TPU midsole are no longer soft enough.

my first marathon i was wearing the original freedom iso. that was my daily, tempo and long run shoes. my interval shoe was saucony type a8. now my legs are almost telling me don't you dare whenever i think of trying type a8 again 😂.

I really like the Ride 15, and was a bit wary of them changing it too much (especially the upper and lockdown which just work really well for me) glad to hear you’re enjoying it! On Saucony colourways - totally subjective - but I find they can veer between bland, and OTT, to the point I’ve actually held off purchasing a pair in the past - if I’m spending £££ I at least want to be happy with how the shoe looks.

The Ride 17 gets the midsole update as a natural progression. The Triumph 22 is getting PWRRUN PB as shown at TRE this year, so PWRRUN+ gets knocked down to the Ride and Guide series, which is a good thing. Love the reviews!

I just bought a pair and did my first 7k tempo run in them. They are much easier to move in than the Hoka Bondi 8 that I have been running in. The Ride doesn’t have as much squish as the Bondi, but more than enough cushion to be comfortable. I also like the geometry of the Ride and I don’t feel like I’m slapping the ground. Time will tell if initial impressions hold up.

Good morning YouTuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuBA! Love it. ❤ Never lose your sense of of fun and your voice! Great video - I’m looking for a “sofa class” long run trainer and now I’m almost certain I’m going for the Triumph to complement my Endorphin Pro 3 race day shoe. I used Brooks Glycerin for this purpose for years but I think Saucony PWRRUN is so much better (I think it’s a face off between NB Fuelcell and Saucony PWRRUN……what do you think???! )
@RunLikeHeller
@RunLikeHeller 6 месяцев назад
Triumph is a great choice!! Though I do think I’m a little more partial to Fuelcell at this point just because it treated me so well during the marathon lol

I put 320 miles on the Ride 14 and it still looks fairly new. But the midsole was always firm and has zero pep left now, so it’s been retired to walking only. Like my pug when he got old.

I have 65 miles in the Ride 17 (my first time trying the Ride series). I also have over 500 miles in the Triumph 20. In regard to the Ride: Definitely agree with commentary about it being best for moderate pace and not being too soft/firm. I have a narrow foot and have issues with the upper of the Ride 17 and these include: The tongue (a trend it feels currently with running shoes) is not high enough (I'm using a runner's knot and the last lace loop) and the left tongue slides all the way over to the left and down and I also have heel slip (another trend with running shoes currently is having very smooth material around the inside heel of the shoe that causes slippage (ex. Novablast 3 I had the same issue)). I overall think the shoe build quality is great and the rubber on the bottom is going to make for a long lasting shoe. I think the shoe is very slightly a bit bottom heavy but that doesn't bother me for daily training, I actually like that (so, the EP3 on race day feels like air!). Note: I've loved the Triumph 20 but do appreciate the 8 mm drop in the Ride. If I had to pick between the two, I'd go Triumph 20 due to the bounce and better fit of the upper.

Can someone please let me know if the tongue plushness has been reduced since the 14th version. I love thick/plush tongues because of a nerve issue on the top of my feet and I am hoping that the 17's are still similar in thickness. Thanks in advance!

My only issue with saucony is it tends to have narrow toe boxes. At least compared to hoka NB or Brooks. Aside from that, great shoes
@iakona23
@iakona23 4 месяца назад
Well the Ride 17 has a somewhat more spacious area for your toes than other Saucony shoes that I’ve tried.

10mm drop is too much (I returned my Triumph 20) therefore the 8mm drop on the Run 17 makes it an automatic winner for me. Toebox looks better also. Pwrrun+ is a very fun foam to run in.

Thinking about this shoe or the NovaBlast 4 for my next daily trainer. Thoughts on which is better? I’m currently using the NovaBlast 3 and love it. It can be a little sloppy on my narrow foot though. I have to tie it nice and tight.
@RunLikeHeller
@RunLikeHeller 6 месяцев назад
While the novablast 4 might also be a little sloppy like the 3, I think I’d still pick it over the ride 17. It’s just more fun
