Rest easy folks! He-Man is back again with a bang! It seems like all the infuriated fans finally made an impact on Kevin Smith who made the changes that were necessary for the second season of Masters of the Universe: Revelation. If the first season was all about emasculating He-Man and focusing on Teela as the protagonist, the second season tries its best to compensate for the damage done. Is it a perfect effort this time? Well, not quite! However, the second season is still a decent series that brings you a glimpse of the mighty He-Man, albeit in a very different form. The focus this time is on various characters, Evil-Lyn’s character development and the creators dive deep into the sea of metaphysical philosophies through the storytelling. The plot is more complex this time around, and the second part of the series will certainly remind you of just how powerful He-Man used to be in his glorious days.

I only take issue with Evil-Lyn never being punished for destroying Heaven. At least in Legend of Korra, Kuvira was still sent to prison after being admonished of her narrow-mindedness.

Yeah, I think they were trying to use the principle of a redemption arc where you give the person being redeemed everything they thought wanted, just so they can understand it isn't what they actually wanted deep down, but if so suggestion: don't have the results involve nuking heaven. Maybe something like saying you sealed it, whatever, it's less visceral, but more easily repaired, and therefore better in context.

Granted none of them actually have the authority to punish Evil-Lynn as destroying an afterlife constitutes as a cosmic crime which is more so in line with being punished by a deity rather than a mortal as it would be under a deity's authority plus it would technically be the first time that such a crime would be committed so I don't think they would know what to do as a fitting punishment. Kuvira did what is more in line with the authorities that exist in the Legend of Korra as she did go back on her word and tried to usurp the Earth Nation's Royal Dynasty, along with several actions that would be more in line with what the Fire Nation did to benders of other nations. And frankly, it fits more in line with how Kratos pretty much destroyed the entire system of how the Greek Mythos works with even Hades being killed and the underworld no longer able to contain the souls of deceased mortals. Plus, there is always the possibility that a new Heaven will replace the old one or it will just be reborn without its former occupants, or there is also the possibility of people going to a different Heaven as it is not THE Heaven but A Heaven. So there could be multiple ones out beyond the veil between life and death.

That's not how animation works though, you can't just change everything within a few months, it takes that long just to edit the script and get it improved, and would take much longer to re-record the voice lines, re-animate everything, edit the score to fit the new version, etc etc.

A single episode of The Simpsons takes 9-12 months to produce. So, to think they remade the second half of the season in just over two months is ridiculous. Not to mention, the whole first half sets up the second. The show runners weren’t reacting to anything, this the narrative all along

@@AzguardMike They changed a cgi model and most likely adjusted some of the animations and modeling to fix any oddities that came from that change. They did not have to rewrite the script, refilm (the majority of) the live action portions, re-do the sound design, re record the voice actors, or anything else. What you guys are arguing here is completely different, as it would have essentially required making the entire second half from scratch.

I just can't stop laughing. Near-old man here. Born in 74, so not only did I get to grow up watching syndicated cartoons from the 60s, the poorly animated ones from the 70s and the glorious ones of the 80s, I even tried to keep up throughout the 90s as I stepped into adulthood. After that, cartoons became trash. Reboots, reloads, whatever. I will admit that the attempt on ThunderCats was OK since Snarf didn't talk hahahaha. Even as a kid I was like WTH when the went into glorious battle while some lizard cat was whimpering snar-snarf Nothing beats the epic opening of Filmation He-Man or the stories. I watched this, looking for a new twist and boy did I get it hahahaha. I'm hesitant to waste time on season 2. Smith pretty much told me that the manly heroes of my childhood were a lie lol. As long as no one screws up Space Ghost, the Herculoids, MASK and Johnny Quest, I'll be alright. Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends was the best. Don't @me.

Reboots are trash but they can continue on some story lines where they left off , use similar animation and vocals, unfortunately like starwars it would be probably be ruined by people that never gave a crap about it in the first place. Born 85 here. And well I loved He-Man as a kid and still do. And well I actually aslo liked the remake in early 2000. :) And somehow at least those parts i have seen of part 2 (I don't have Netflix) it seemed pretty good. But i agree that cartoons did devovle with cartoon styles liek Power Puff Girls and so on.

@@tsnoob4669Yeah Netflix doesn't make the show but it can ask how they be made. Which is why I wish shows stopped working with Netflix. Netflix wants short series people can binge wash and cancel if people don't. Notice very few shows go past three seasons. It's annoying.

I worked on He-Man Masters of the Universe hit TV Animation Series for a solid 3 years for Filmation Studios in the late 80s. A great experience for me as one of the Key Animators for this fantastic TV series. A time in my animation career I will never forget. Barry Anderson ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IDFv-yZM3CU.html It was common for my Filmation Director to cast certain characters to key Animators that showed much drawing strength for any particular character design. For example, some animators were good with animals and others with female characters, and then others with male characters, and so on. The Directors at Filmation assigned the main character He-Man, Orko, Cringer, and Battle Cat in that order including much of the Stock Footage that we would call Same As that you can see playing in every episode."

Wow! When I was a kid watching that well accurately my best friend, Zachary and I were watching human as a kid in the '80s Man. I really love that show. It was very perfect for its time. He always had the lessons at the end and all the characters were just very well done. You know it was definitely a shield model to fit its time. Lots of great memories. @@Mannwhich It has an overtly feminist message, but the animation is fantastic and the storytelling itself is done well and is consistent with the themes, whether you like it or not. I really don't want to spoil anything so stop reading at this sentence if you don't want a minor story spoiler. Do you get to see He-Man regain his former glory? Yes. Are there allusions to toxic masculinity? Yes. You could argue that the main theme of the plot is based around toxic men and their misuse of their power (The Power of Grayskull). However, if you are worried about how He-Man comes off then I will say that you shouldn't worry. He is still a Good Guy™. Whether you like it or not really comes down to how much you care about political messaging in your media. It clearly has an agenda, but it is, at least, internally consistent with itself. I found it kind of obnoxious but I have strong feelings about propaganda, no matter which 'side' it comes from. It's very subjective in that regard.

@@Mannwhich To be Fair they didn't break down He-Man they just took him off the board and showed how important he was. He-Man stays He-Man throughout. Adam is shown to be the fucking Legend that he is. The one constant in MOTU is Teela's gonna go off half cocked and have to be talked down by someone more level headed (Teela's always been my favorite MOTU character cause hurricane Teela does shit her way damn the consequences and she's a hot red head.)

I haven't watched revelations. Only really, do I have your explanation of events and various clips across YT to go by. As someone who grew up, in the original He-Man's run (Like literally, he was the first cartoon character I really idolized), I can honestly say that if this isn't considered an epic addition to the franchise, I don't know what would be... - Savage He-Man? What?! Sign me up! I watched that fight and OMG that's cool - Evil Lynn is an actual person with thoughts and feelings? OMG Sign me up! I loved Evil Lynn when I was a kid, she was the only villain I liked on the show, so to see her be so absolutely amazing is a godsend - Teela = new Sorceress? Ok I like this, kinda makes sense really - Three words that send tingles through out the awesome zones of my brain "Orko the White!" If that isn't cause for me to stand up and cheer I don't know what is - Death's a thing?! Finally! But sparingly, thank the gods. All in all I feel this, from what you've said here, He-Man Revelations stands above a good number of other entries in the series. Good on them.

I don't like how Evil Lin and Teela blame the men for their issues, and I don't like how Skeletor loses his power in the dumbest way possible. Other than that, in the 2002 reboot Teela says Adam is nothing without his sword, which is contrary to what happened here where he doesn't need his sword for power. I understand that Adam was chosen but he cannot transform into He Man without the sword; in fact, when he "killed someone" in the 80s cartoon he gave away the sword and needed the sword back to transform. If he didn't he would've just ran into action to quickly stop Skeletor's portal. The creation of Savage He Man was to show Adam was the conduit and does not need the sword for the power since he is chosen. However it is extremely out of character for He Man to just be reckless and smash everything; Savage He Man isn't He Man, and it was said in the 80s cartoon that when Adam became He Man he swore to protect, savage he man definitely isn't worthy of that power. Teela should also not have this much screentime, maybe as much as Man at Arms, but in the 2002 reboot, she was a supporting character. In this series, she still feels like the main character who deals with the main conflict

I'm a liberal guy and I'm all for more representation but man Teela and her story and all the feminism felt so tacky and forced. I honestly LOVED Evil Lyn, Adam, and all the characters. I just felt the whole thing felt a little too hijacked by a political theme. You can make things fair without being so on the nose. Kevin is not dumb. Him being shocked that his "Teela and Friends" show with little-to-no He-Man was going to upset people is ridiculous.

Everyone thinks Heman was based on Conan, and though they say now its more Jack Kirbys new gods comic, I'd say its more Lin Carters Gondwane book series, it did after all feature a giant blond warrior with a sword on his back wandering a post apocalypse world with the remnants of technology and medieval elements

Look how long it's taken for Revolution to come out do you really think they had time to reanimate stuff in the time between part 1 and 2? This was the way the story was always going to be. Tela and the Masters of the Universe: Revolations He-Man is downplayed to a minor character, should have been the name of the shows. Season 1 did not make it to Netflix's top ten, Season 2 actually made it to #7 for a week. It made no sense to call it He-Man and the masters of the Universe because the main character appeared for less than 10 minutes of entire season one, that is just really stupid. They gave him more time in Season 2 and it did draw the old fans, self included to actually like parts of the show. It is not so much I hated this series because the hero does not appear rather due to false advertizing.

It NEVER called itself "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe." It was, is, and always will be called "Masters of the Universe: Revelations." Season 1 was great, Season 2 was better, but all the arguments and complaints are just people whining because it's not a cookie cutter of the original series, which was INSANELY cheap in all aspects. To everyone complaining about Revelations "ruining" or "emasculating" He-Man, they should shut up and actually rewatch the original now that they are adults.

Comapred to part 1 this is a breath of fresh air but I dislike Dark-Lyn's motivation, that might just be me since I dislike Nihalistic villains, and she also kinda blew up Heaven (It was probably fixed, but we never saw that), I do like that the way to beat her was essentialy talking her down and hope they can get even better next season Also: hopefully they never mention the comic since it contradicts a lot of stuff in the show

I liked and enjoyed the 2nd 1/2 more than the 1st. Can't wait to see the 2nd season, and I hope they don repeat the same mistakes and relase them all at once, rather 2 parts. Because it created a huge schism among us the fans.

Good thing I didn't bother to watch this, I new exactly what this would be when I first heard it was going to be on obamaflix. I loved the original as a young kid, 2000 series was ok, but to be fair most anything made nowadays is the same BS. Was looking forward to hopefully getting a good new Batman movie my wife and I could go watch for my birthday but after seeing more trailers it looks like Catwoman will be the main character. Probably won't bother, Redbox it maybe. No problem with a female main character but dang it stop forcing them into everything and having them take over. Give them there own movies, shows or whatever,

without the sword, Adam gets the power direct and cant control it. With the sword, he transforms in a controlled way. Think of it like the Power Stone in Gardians 1. If you hold the power directly, its raw and dangerous and controls you. If you use a gauntlet or hammer with the stone in, you control it.

That would be fun, I'm not sure if a reception arc is in the works. I do love a good one being told but I'm also slightly worried theyll just killer her off. Cuz that's been a trend in media lately like the MCU. Sad really wasted potential.

Skeletor i think would appreciate murdering He-Man much more so he would keep Man At Arms alive, plus he can use him as bait. As far as not taking away the extra power he gave to Skeletor, I feel it serves He-Man's mission to put love into the heart of Skeletor more in the future when Skeletor reflects on this. I really didn't like any new He-Man show, but this is very interesting writing.

god damn, kevin really pissed a huge fan base off. you'd think something like he-man would mean as much to him as it does to any man growing up in the 80's. personally i haven't watched the second season because of it. and it really sucked because girls back then had she-ra seriously, write a new she-ra story line and leave he-man the hell alone. sorry, this new he-man thing really pissed me off. after this video i may actually watch the second season.

Hodak is actually a Motu character not a Pop character. Cat-Ra was the Main Big Bad for Pop but the Filmation show made Hodak to main Baddie to give him a Bump.

It would be like onestudio buys the rights to Donald Duck and thus he can no logner be used in disney related productions. :)

My question is how was Skeletor able to transform into "Skele- God" and evil in into "God-lyn" with the sword if they don't have Royal Blood of Grayskull?? The 1980s and 2000X Skeletor was King Randor's half brother and He-man's uncle. That's why he wanted the sword in the power of Grayskull. But Skeletor in Revelations is no longer related to King Randor. It's so obvious Kevin Smith knows nothing about Masters of the Universe.

You guys act like he didn't have people in the room he could ask about Motu. The Sword in Rev works differently. The Power is Neutral hence why the Sword splits into positive and negative versions like the original mini-comics. Both Evil-Lyn and Skeletor were channeling the dark half of the power whilst He-Man the Light half. The power is just that,, THE POWER. The Sword is just a conduit. A Tool.

If Adam always had the power then wtf power did Skeleton and Evil Lyn get with the sword then? Like the concept is cool but make no sense to me. And given the case shouldn't He-Man be WAY more powerful? His innate power + power of gray skull that juiced up the villains.

Bit wrong on few things . It's all season 1 and story wasn't charged due to fans it was the plan entire time as it wouldn't have released as quickly if he had to redo it . And ultra Skeletor is "Champion" Skeletor , the power makes you into the sorceress's champion 😜 otherwise great info vid as always. Fun fact , Primal He-man is from mini comics that came with original toys and was based on Hulk and Conan .

Great review I may not agree with everything said but I appreciate you going at this part of the show fairly Given your Previous thoughts on the first half and I’m glad 😃 you and more found more enjoyment this time around overall great video and fingers crossed 🤞 for season 2 and hopefully 🙏 you consider making more masters of the universe content in the future
