Shooting silly string, shaving cream, canned ravioli, and more plus accuracy testing, and initial unbias impression, for an honest review of this savage Precision Rifle with MDT hardware in .17 HMR that is fairly new to the market. We shoot targets at 25 and 50 yards to test accuracy, ring steel from 93 and have some fun shooting some creative targets to see what this round, and the rifle can do! Come along and join us to check it out. Like and subscribe to see more vids like vids one.

Ain't no fun till you take it out to 120 yards and shoot a clay, then you shoot the clay pieces. I have the 93 stainless bull barrel.

The only thing I don't like about 17 and it's high velocities, is the destruction of meat it produces on smaller game like squirrels and rabbits if you choose the wrong bullet, it makes it almost impossible to fix, cook, and eat. Even with 22lr I often choose 42gr subsonic rounds of the hollow point variety. That being said, I don't have any hate for the round or the rifle, it's a great pair! it's just not big enough for hunting big size game, and too destructive for small size game. I guess it fits right on the pest control niche.

Agree with that. I think a good work around would be the CCI FMJs but I have yet to test them out.

It is definitely a way fast little round and super destructive for sure. Thanks for the comment.

Do headshots

@@jayrom12 you like headshots? Has every time you've pulled the trigger been a headshot? I didn't think so.

@@linkbond08 headshots are the way to go with rabbits and squirrels if u want them for the meat for coyotes as well drops them where they stand. Get a high power scope and practice hitting very tiny targets it’s great because .17 is so cheap u can practice all day.

Do you know where he picked up the muzzle brake?

If memory serves, it's one I just had kicking around that I sent over his way. I honestly don't remember where I got it it was a standard half by 28 thread that I didn't have a whole lot of use for. There are a lot of really great pretty cool options for muzzle devices with that thread pitch.

This particular firearm was a friend of mine's that he brought over for review. I don't recall off the top of my head what his optic was that you had on there and the break was just when I had kicking around here at the house threaded for 1/2 by 28 tpi. This really was a nice firearm though and a pleasure to shoot.

Why would you put a break on a 17?

Pure looks, no other reason 😂It does change the sound signature and sounds cool

I guess for a laugh. As soon as I saw the muzzle break on this 17HMR rifle, I laughed saying to myself, "wth" :)

We were playing around with some different ammo to figure out what it likes best. We were just resting it on some blocks on a blanket. I have since picked up a lead sled and it makes a difference. I think a bipod would have even improved the results.
