I live less than 5 minutes from the Pavilion Park, been fishing those shoals for going on 40 years now. The 9lb bass in my avatar came from right there...

I was stationed at Ft. Gordon from 2002-2005 and used to fish the loc & dam a lot. Went with a buddy a few times to catch catfish. I sure with I would've had my kayaks back then to fish the river more around shoals. Now living in North Georgia and love fishing the Etowah river. I need to come back that way and do some kayak fishing. I LOVE saltwater fishing but usually do it in Florida, haven't been to Savannah area much. I just found your channel...NEW SUBSCRIBER..

Nice video, got the Bartrams off my bucket list a few years back in upstate SC and the Coosa I got of my list this spring. Been meaning to fish this stretch with a good old friend of mine but he passed before we could get it done. RIP Blackwater Bill.

Well, I couldn’t think of a better way to honor a friend than by taking that fishing trip. I lost a close friend last year and think about home often while fishing.

That was a great trip with some great guys. That little Bartrams bass can be a hard one to get if you’re going for the bass slam. Only one place I can catch them up here.

Honestly, I had never heard of the bartrams bass until planning for this trip but a fun little bass to catch. I’m gearing up for deer season now but next year I plan on pursuing the Bass Slam.

You must have put-in in two different locations? You start off at the water treatment plant, but show kayaks close to lock and dam upriver….must have put-in there also….would have been nearly impossible to head upstream. It is much work to just get to the water but we’ll worth it. Some very large smallmouth in those waters….fight more than largemouth.

Sorry….not lock and dam….I mean Savanah River Rapids….same place the Augusta canal starts

Todd, I may have included some footage that misled a little. We started at Savannah Rapids Pavilion and Took our at the water treatment plant. It was about a 3 hour kayak trip and well worth it. It’s a lot of work and takes coordination with a few buddies to make this trip possible but a lot of fun.

Every time we roll down I-20 from Atlanta heading to see the G-kids in Charlotte and cross the Savannah at the border, I've always wondered what kinds of fish you could catch there. We usually stop at the S.C. welcome center and it looks like it wouldn't be that far a hike through the woods to get down along the side of the river. I've also always wondered if there is any good fishing in the Augusta Canal.

I’ve never fished the canal but that looks like a good place to try as well, may have to plan a trip just to fish it. As you can see in the video, I was catching fish almost literally under I-20, lots of fun.
