In this podcast, we discuss Vikram Sampath's latest book "Savarkar A Contested Legacy". This book covers Veer Savarkar's life from 1924-1966. What were Veer Savarkar's views on caste? What happened with the Hindu Mahasabha as a political outfit? Did Veer Savarkar have a role in Mahatma Gandhi's assassination?

It was lovely to hear someone sticking his neck out beyond just what is being told to us. I wish Vikram Sampath long life so that he leaves a great legacy of treasure of books that we and our next generations could devour and thrive upon. Carvaka poscast thanks for bringing this podcast on global platform.

Time stamps This podcast turned me from hindu to #iamhindutva . 0:30 - Beginning the podcast. 1:55 - Indian Political landscape during 1920s. 9:20 - What were Vikram's reaction on the movement of modern hindu samaj when he came to know about arya samaj and its connection with hindu mahasabha. (Itne saal kya hum jhak mara rahe tha jahan humko ek dayananda saraswati lag gayi hindu political thought ke modernisation begin karne me) 14:45 - Ambedkar-Savarkar relationship. 19:40 - Savarkar's 7 shackles of Hindu society. 25:45 - Savarkar's conceptual clarity in understanding hindu, hindutva and hinduism in 1920-40s. And we are still stuck in these questions. 30:00 - Kushal - Hum yaha apna narrative/propogonda chalate hai. 37:40 - Kushal don't understand what the hell was happening. The irony of the irony of the narratives. Chacha nehru zindabad. 43:00 - Savarkar on Ambedkar's Buddham Sharnam Gachhami. Vikram on ‘The clash of Civilisations’ and the response of our protagonists. Savarkar's obsession with arming and dearming hindus with the context of contemporary indian army proportions.. 57:25 - Father of nation or the constant thron in the flesh of government Assasinated by making him a sitting duck. 1:09:00 - The massacre of Brahmins by the congressi gandhian ahinsavaadi after a murder, an important history lesson which remain unlearnt, repeated itself in 1984. 1:18:15 - Q and A. 1:43:00 - Why Kushal is grateful to Vikram, the ray of hope of meritocracy in the ocean of mediocrity. How students will get the taste of the truth which was never ever studied and analysed after 70 years. How vikram feels and next project. 1:49:35 - The most important quote of the podcast (jisko Savarkar ke bare me janna ho use chipka dena) with vikram closing remarks on podcast and kushal's content.

A well balanced discussion. A lot of people don’t know how Savarkar chose to end his life in his last days. This would put a lid to the controversy about mercy petitions. He voluntarily gave up food and water, a process called ‘Prayopveshan’, or self sacrifice.

Vikram Sampath had done a seminal service by providing a fact based account of the remarkable man that Savarkar was. Shame on Congressmen for throwing mud on such a great patriot and champion of Hindus. Even Sri Aurobindo had a lot of respect for Savarkar, certainly much more than he had for Gandhi. This is evident from his evening talks recorded by AB Purani.

The work of some extreme hindutva wadis suggest that caste was a british creation which is just absolute complete nonsense ! I mean if the hindutva people will rely on such totally false claims, obviously the leftists will snatch the narrative from them! Many OBC castes were actually the ruling classes and are now claiming backwardness which has complicated this caste issue. But let's face it, dalits or the so called untouchables did not have any social mobility in at least the last 1500 years.
@smoky3302
@smoky3302 2 года назад
@@RD-pp9ds well neobuddhist are already doing that they are capatalizing on historic caste injustices. We must learn from sarvarkar and accept that jati varna is a horrible system we came up with but now it's time to move forward . @adarsh_1
@adarsh_1 2 года назад
@@smoky3302 We can and should get rid of the current understanding of caste (which is absolutely pathetic), but how would you get rid of Varna? Do you aspire the communist utopia (or dystopia as I understand it) of classless society? We can stop using the term 'varna' for it, but classes will exist. This is where I disagree with Kushal's stance that you can understand Bharatiya shastras without basic Sanskrit knowledge, the whole bogus understanding and clubbing together of Jati and Varna stems from this. The word Varna in Sanskrit LITERALLY means 'some classification you choose and accept'. The word Varna and Varan have the same root (For example, the sentence "Maine iss dhanush ka varan kiya" means I chose and accepted to use this bow). Brahman, Kshatriya, Vaishya and Shudra are VARNAS AND NOT JAATIS. The word Jaati literally means 'an identity by birth' and we can have prajatis as well (sub-jatis, for example prajati of a dog). The whole BS started when we mixed jati and varna, to which the britishers also mixed family occupations during their census and thus the BS of 'Caste' emerged.

Hum jante hein Congress ne apne sidhanton ke karan 1925 mein RSS ki taraf se apni ankhen band kar li thee. Yahan tak Gandhi ki hatya ke baad bhi Nehru nahi chete. Congress chunavan mein ulaj ke reh gai par RSS lagatar takatwar hoti rahi aur Hindu Rastra ka sapna junta mein pahunchati rahi apana cadre badati rahi. Bajpei aur Modi ke aane baad usse laga ki time aa gaya hei hindudtav ki rajneeti karne ka. Desh aur videshon mein RSS ek grahna pattar sanghthan mana jayega. Kya ye samvidhan badal sakte hein? Toh 20th century bhari padi hei jab dictators ne samvidhan badal kar shasan kiya.
