Honestly loved the clear glasses! But i'm bias as a clear glasses wearer myself lol. However, $200 for all three is such a steal! I pay $145 for just one pair. Loving the videos! Keep up the good work!

Thank you :) I know - it was a remarkable bargain for high index lenses, and tint added to sunglasses too!

Friends and I are planning a Japan trip next year and I had to ask them to add this on the itinerary. Just one pair of glasses in NZ can cost over 300NZD with all the additional features. Getting a thinner lense comes with an extra cost.
@TheTechPacker
@TheTechPacker 9 дней назад
OOOof - fellow NZer here - that's a good price in NZ. With my prescription, I'd be looking at $500 minimum, as I'd need high-index lenses for sure. For me, well worth getting in Japan :)

@@TheTechPacker yeah. It was even just a part of a deal that's why. The worse your eyesight is, the worse the price will be. 😅

Same coming from the US. I've even got them made in the airport (NRT) in 30 min while I waited for a flight! I get at least two pair every time I go to Japan! Luxottica Group S.p.A has a monopoly in the US and much of the world on the glasses market thus why they're so expensive (except for Asia). South Korea was cheap to!
@TheTechPacker
@TheTechPacker 4 месяца назад
That's great about getting them made so quickly at Narita Airport! Mine are a little complicated to make so they need 5 days, but so long as you plan, it's super easy and so affordable. Interesting about the monopoly position affecting consumers in the USA. I suspect something very similar in NZ

My family of 4 each got glasses in Japan last fall. We went to Kamakura's Paris Mikki store. Great service and was amazed they can do eye exams right there with no appointment, literally we just walked in. It was a small store, and not at the same price point as Jin's, but the quality and wrokmanship was 1000% better than the garbage glasses and lenses in Canada. We each got titanium frames and progressive lenses. Japan never ceases to amazze me.
@TheTechPacker
@TheTechPacker 2 месяца назад
Fantastic for you and your family. I thought about getting progressives, but ended up deciding against it and just getting a pair of reading glasses. How do you find your progressives - and what type where they?
@zakspeedf1
@zakspeedf1 2 месяца назад
@@TheTechPacker I highly recommedn progressives as they are basically a "all in one" and dont need a seperate pair of reading glasses. It does take a while to get used to tho. Our lenses also had the auto dimming effect in sunlight. the frames were by charmant and all titanium.

It's possible. You may have to pay a little extra, but it's possible. Even economical eyeglass stores such as JINS and Zoff carry high-performance progressive lenses made in Japan.

Thanks for making this video. Coincidently, I’ve been meaning to get stronger lenses in the UK but my wife has told me it would be so much cheaper just to get new glasses when I’m in Japan. I’ll be there for just a week. Could you just briefly clarify the steps you took, please 🙏? For example, how and when did you send Jinns your prescription details. Also…did you have to book an appointment?
@TheTechPacker
@TheTechPacker 4 месяца назад
Hi there. I just brought a current paper copy of my prescription from NZ. They measured pupilary distance in-store. No appointment necessary - I just rocked up to the store and they did everything there and then. My prescription is a little complex, with astigmatism, but they got it done fine in under a week - one pair took 7 days, the others were 6 days. So, even for more complex prescriptions, if you have a week, you can get it done so long as you start the process on Day 1.
@David-mo8rl

Before I comment, please understand it's not to be mean, merely to point out some oversights that I think you may have been a bit blind to, as to the usability of the information in this video, & the frustration that the somewhat, (albeit likely unintentional), clickbait nature of it causes. Cost of eyeglasses in your country of residence: Rather high Cost of getting them in Japan: Only 20% of local residence cost PLUS taking time off work to travel to Japan PLUS airfare to Japan PLUS Hotel in Japan PLUS incidentals like food & travel while in Japan, bringing the unaccounted for costs of getting to Japan to even get the cheaper glasses much MUCH higher than the high cost of buying them locally. I mean my guy, I get it. If you buy them in Japan, you get a nice pair with all the bells & whistles, while I paid $500 for 2 pairs that are not as fancy & don't have all the bells & whistles. & that would be great, usable info if I could just walk down the street to some kind of portal that would just zap me to Japan in order to effectively pursue those savings. However, given the fact that in reality, just getting there requires a commitment of at least a few days to fly over, get a place to say while there, & then fly back, not to mention time away from work, it renders the helpfulness of this video to zero to literally anyone that isn't already going to be traveling to Japan for some other reason, & at that point, let's be honest, if you have the money for that kind of international travel, I highly doubt that the cost difference would be relevant enough to people of such wealth that it would make the sacrifice in convenience worth it. I'm not trying to be negative, please understand that, I'm just trying to provide some feedback on how unusable this information is, outside of pure entertainment value, for most of the people that clicked on it, which are areas that you might have been blind to.
@TheTechPacker
@TheTechPacker 23 дня назад
Hi. Don’t agree but that’s life. I have had feedback from American colleagues who have very expensive prescriptions in the US that say it could trip them into choosing Japan as opposed to another destination. And although I’m not suggesting a special trip to Japan to get your glasses, they would. Personally, I did mine while I was there. It’s wasn’t a special trip. But it saved me hundreds.
@demitriuspandi9736
@demitriuspandi9736 23 дня назад
@@TheTechPacker Valid. I imagine that for those small few that were already traveling over there for other reasons, it may be worth it to them to wait until they are there to get their glasses. It still only helps the few that were already going to Japan, however, anyway. Now if there was an online purchasing & home shipping option, where those of us that don't have the luxury of being able to travel can still take advantage of those benefits, then I think it would be more worthwhile.
@TheTechPacker

@demitriuspandi9736 and for those people and the audience interested in this - and I don’t think it’s a small few - this video is highly relevant, and the title and thumbnail speak directly to the content.
