If all else fails, read the instructions 😁 Much easier if you remove the knobs and front panel ( 2 screws ), then remove the rail cover plate ( 2 screws ), the ignition electrodes just a slide fit. You don’t need to remove the burners and mess with air mixtures.

Check the battery first, but if it's a good battery, before you buy a whole new igniter kit, read this: When a new battery didn't fix the igniter, I took a minute to double check the battery compartment. Looked like the contact for the negative side of the battery (the contact inside the igniter box) was kind of dull. The way I cleaned it was to cut a thin strip of course sandpaper and wrap it lengthwise around the eraser end of a pencil, stuck it in the battery tube and rubbed away until the contact was all bright and shiny. Reinstalled the battery and voile: Working igniter! Hope this helps some of you avoid messing with new igniters and wires. I like to keep it simple!

Exactly, check the battery first, then replace the ignition module, before replacing any of the ignitor. Chances are all 4 ignitors don't go bad at the same time. A little deductive thinking goes a long way, save you time and money.

This is exactly what happened to mine. Cleaned up the spring and also pulled on each of them to help them make better contact when the lid was put in the battery compartment. So happy I didnt have to replace anything. But mine was not working right out of the box. Glad I didnt have to take it back to the store or wait on hold for someone in India.

I rebuilt mine approximately a week ago clean the burner tubes all nine yards. Replace the igniter and the porcelain probes.. After doing all this and cleaning it thoroughly I was still having a problem lighting two of the burners. What I came across is the probe sensors to the porcelain housings we're at a 12° angle to the vent tubes of the burners, giving a spark but not very strong. I then proceeded to readjust these with the screwdriver between the the burner and the underside of the porcelain probe adjusting the probes to 90°. I then retested it and long behold instant spark and flame! 😀 The girl has never worked as good from day one as it does now. I don't know the purpose of the igniting rods being at an angle but nevertheless if anybody has this problem readjust the rods below the porcelain igniters carefully not damaging them and you will note that the results are well worth it.

Don't you think it would've been better to clean the inside of the grill while all the burners were removed?

Are the igniters suppose to be secured to the burners? I bought one used and they’re just laying on top of the burner.

Check the battery first. My Genesis grill had a factory issued battery in the ignitor button. I unscrewed it and saw that my battery was a little corroded. I replaced it with a new battery and then the grill ignitor worked. Simple check & fix before you start tearing the grill apart. I got lucky because my grill was fairly new so wires and other parts were in good shape.

No need to remove the tubes. This can be done easier by removing the control panel. 2 screws and lift up.

Mine did the same thing after 5 years. I just sanded the corrosion off the electrode in the cap where the battery goes. This fixed the problem. Also check for corrosion on the positive electrode. Hope this saves you even more money.

You don't need to remove any of the burners to remove the front cover! There is a Phillip screw located near the top hinge of each door (two total). Remove these and simply lift off the cover after pulling off the knobs. Super easy and much less work. Other than that, nice video.

Can you still ignite the barbecue with an in-op igniter, the old-fashioned way?
@ecobuilder2996
@ecobuilder2996 2 года назад
You most certainly can. Using a long matchstick or BBQ lighter through the provided hole will do the trick. Make sure to keep the lid open!

You only need to replace the spark generator box.

.. Just got finished with mine. My order of troubleshooting: 1. Check or replace the AA battery, 2. Check the switch with an Ohm meter, 3. Replace the "spark box," 4. Replace non-functional sparkers. But yeah 9/10 it's the "spark box" when nothing is working after an easy battery swap. Mine crapped out after 2-1/2 years with 2-3 per week uses on my Genesis 410 series. Chinese parts. I too only replaced the "spark box" and have lots of spare parts.

Not always true. I replaced the igniter unit and no joy. Ended up replacing the wires as well to resolve the issue.

How do I know it's the igniter and not the gas regulator.
