HEIC photos are rather annoying when you are trying to upload via your computer. That's why I changed my settings to save my iPhone photos as JPG instead of HEIC.

Glad you found some use in the video. I would bet you get as frustrated as I do when you get and HIEC file rather than JPG and then have to convert it

Thank you from uk 😊 So does that mean, setting to most compatible and JPeg, when uploading to Facebook or other platforms, they look better? I tried HEIF and other way and on social media if you zoom in to look at detail, it looks rubbish on 15 Pro Max.

after install IOS 17.03 is not possible take jpg format from iphone to windos computer, , I turn on and turn off Compatible format, turn of and tur on phone, but in windows computer after coonect phone I still have only HEIC format

I have already took a loot of HEIC photos, can you tell me how to export it to JPG? I am trying to copy it to FILES folder, but it is loading and nothing happens "preparing"... pleeeease help

do you know why iphones will create 2 pics? i take 1 photo but when i go the gallery there are now 2 pics.. 1 is how i originally took it and 1 is zoomed out (did not take it this way.. only took 1 zoomed in pic). it's driving me crazy!

Thank you for this but just let everyone know that changing it to compatible will not download in 4k/1080P. It may work for most everyday users but I need the files in high quality.

Will our older photos that were taken in HEIC format be changed to JPEG after the change?

To my knowledge this will only apply to photos taken after the change

This changes to JPEG but not JPG. It matters because some websites don’t let you upload JPEG but do allow JPG.

Nobody is talking about the fact that if you upload a heic photo to instagram from your cell phone, it doesn't look like the real image. And I think that from the mobile you can not change the format to an image already taken, you have to send it to the computer, convert it and then upload it, it is a very big complication, because I do not want to be transforming photos all the time to upload an image. I could change the format to jpg by default but I think I would lose quality in photos and 4k videos.

Really cool how someone making a video on HEIC can't be bothered to remember the acronym while filming. Great way to build credibility with your audience.

but heic does open, on windows you just need the plugin for the photo app (i think in the latests versions it comes preinstalled) and also opens on affinity photo and photoshop, heic can even be posted on discord and whatsapp

Making a mountain out of a molehill… Actually, if you send a HEIC over Gmail, it comes out as a JPEG. No problem. No deformation. If you save your HEIC photos in your files app, they automatically become JPEG’s. You can then upload them on an SD card or other medium as JPEG’s. No problem. No deterioration. HEIC is superior in quality to JPEG’s. More colours. 16 Bits on HEIC VS 8 Bits on JPEG’S. If you do a post edit, you can go back later and, as a RAW file go back to the original. You can post edit many times without loosing quality. This is a NO No with JPE BG’S.

All that is great for those of us who want the higher quality and better files, but for some, simple JPGs are all they want. This video was originally made for some of my family members who were having issues with this file type and they wanted to know how to make things as simple as possible for them.
