Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! This is exactly the video I’ve been searching for! I have that exact cartridge, bought the repair kit and the same Danco silicon grease but just wanted to make sure how to apply it all! Thank you sooooo much!!!! Cost of repair kit & grease only $10 and about 10 minutes time Cost of a new cartridge - $20 aftermarket Delta brand cartridge -$62!
thank you very much. The cartridge now cost $62 and replacement springs and washer+springs $5 . really appreciate explaining in detail including use of silicon grease and calibration
Thank you so much, this saved me a lot of money on a new cartridge! My “professional” plumber said my new delta faucet had a bad cartridge! Brand new faucet! I took the tub faucet down myself, used silicone plumbers grease and used it on all the O rings and bonnet and Wahla! No more leak! Not one drop!! They wanted to charge me more money to come out and fix. Thanks again!
Really ? A plumber tried to charge you for a new one? That's unbelievable. They usually charge an amount that's exactly proportionate to the services rendered. They work so hard for the minimal amount they charge. I usually tip extra because they are making minimum wage on a good day. We all need to support our hard working, honest plumbers.
Not sure if it applies same for plumbers but we are taught that if something is defective or broken, we have to replace the item and not “redneck it”, yes it costs more but thats how we do our job
Really appreciate the video, I attempted the repair with the new seats/springs but the same leak keeps on at around 15 second intervals. At the same time I have a better idea of how it all works, which is always a good thing.
Greetings from Pennsylvania! Thank you for this video. As others have commented, watching this saved me from buying new cartridge. Buying new seats and springs fixed perfect.
Thank you for this great video. I changed out my entire cartridge assembly with a new one, and it kept leaking. Bought it another box of sitting seals, thinking those were bad, and it was not that either.... the entire time I didn't realize that I needed to put on plumbers grease.... so for anyone reading... if you replace everything and it keeps leaking, make sure you use plumbers grease...
@@JustForYouDiy Thanks, yes. I am very happy because I tried everything, it is incredible how just that little bit of plumbers grease makes a huge difference. Two days later and still, not a single drip.
Thank you for the info. I just bought a new cartridge last week, and installed it. I still have a leak. I will purchase plumbers grease. Thanks again!!!
Thanks for posting. Exactly the problem. All the other o-rings looked ok while these two smeared black goo when touched. Greased all rubber parts and threads.
thank you! my shower faucet just started endlessly dripping all day, a couple weeks ago, and using your video i fixed it myself and gave everything i could reach a little scrub with limescale dissolver. turns out one of my little rubber seats had a nick/tear in its surface for some reason. i wonder how that managed to form when it wasnt leaking before?
Thank you for your feedback. I am glad you found the video helpful and resolved your issue. The seals do wear over time and develop nicks and tears. Again, glad to hear you got it fixed.
Should this be replaced if it's not leaking? Mine is 17 years old and it's ok but was thinking should I replace it before it breaks (preventive maintenance)? Thank you for the video.
Greetings from Edmonton AB... Thank you very much for this piece of advice. Applied the silicone to the seals while plying them. No leak at all now. This explicit video saved my day...Cheers.
Nice video. I was trying to get the cartridge out and it wont come out. I just twisted the upper part and replaced the springs and put that part back again. Saved me some years. Sooner or later i will have to call plumber to get that whole thing out when it start giving trouble again.
Great vid, unfortunately, due to inflation, the full Delta replacement cartridge now costs $62.48 and just the seats and springs are $5.78 quite a big increase in the 2 1/2 years since you made the video. I am curious if it would make sense to purchase the full cartridge repair kit that replaces all the gaskets, seats, springs, and the tail piece?
Thank you JC. Yes, sometimes it makes sense to buy the whole repair kit. Those are the times when, it’s to difficult to remove the cartridge for the second time due to, mechanical issues, having the water off creates too big of an inconvenience, your limited amount of time to work on the project, your budget, etc. I am glad you found the video helpful. Sincerely, Farshid
Your video is awesome! Thank you ! I do have a question. I change the entire shower valve and my shower head still has annoying drip any ideas what else I should do?
The only place the water could come from is the valve. If the cartridge has been replaced and there is still a leak, at times, this is due to the age of the valve body, hard water deposit inside the valve. Hope this helps.
Hi. I just wanted to add a comment that Delta and Kohler both have Lifetime Warranty on all parts. I know time may be a problem (having to wait for the part to be shipped) but it may save you $85-90.00 on complete valve. Just a thought. Thanks for video.
Thank you, I got the seat and spring kit at Home Depot for $6 …I bought 2 and changed out both of my showers in less than an hour …they wanted $69 for the cartridge some cartridges were $80+ I had a feeling that there would be likely no need to replace the cartridge… I was sure someone would be able to specify the actual part that are Predominantly getting worn out… last time I replaced the cartridge because I had no awareness of the seat and spring kit… you saved me about $120 …I did have to search through a lot of videos to find this excellent video… but it was worth it… I would like to add that there is another part that I ran into that was very troublesome and I was never able to find an answer on RU-vid… and that is getting off a stubborn cartridge nut or ring… all the answers RU-vid provided were horrible… channel locks wouldn’t do it …no chemicals would loosen it …what I came up with that got it off instantly and with pretty much no effort was a belt wrench… the more you turn the tighter it gets so you don’t get the slipping and shredding that happens with channel lock… barely turned it and it came off without any damage to the ring… it was magic 🪄
If the hot water throughout the rest of the house is hotter and you have waited long enough for the water to get hot at the shower and the adjustment at the cartridge is set to the hottest, it could be a defective cartridge.
Hi, good video. I just changed a new cartirage after dripping problem got worse. It seems no more many drops dripping down. But I still find out very few water drops in cantainer I put under Delta sprout after using sprout 24 hours later. I want to ask your experience if it is normal to wait more than a day to dry out water in cartridge and inside sprout. Thanks.
@@JustForYouDiy Still have at least 2 drops out after many hours. Is it possible the velve washed out and still have slow leaking after no use facet for 4 days? Should I consider change valve? Or try to clear mineral buildup inside of valve?
You could have further disassembled the cartridge and cleaned/lubed the temp balance rod inside. The white part separates. I'm sure stuff gets stuck in there.
My cartridge was seized in the valve so I had to chip out the old one and buy a whole new one. What can I do to stop the cartridge from seizing in the valve?
I was able to locate number 19063 on the Delta cartridge, however, I cannot locate another with this number. What is the best way to find a compatible cartridge or replacement on the market?
Hello: Great video. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. What is the best way to clean the dirt off the valve? May I use apple vinegar? Thank you again.
I’m hoping you could help me I followed your instructions to a T. I actually got the pieces from Delta did it and it’s still leaking. pulled it apart make sure to clean everything again reseal silicone sealed and put it together and it is still leaking are there internal parts in the cartridge that could go bad that need to be replaced or should I just replace the cartridge?thank you for your time.
Sorry to hear that replacing seats and springs did not fix the leak. You may want to try one more thing before replacing the cartridge. There may be some hard water deposit inside the valve body keeping the seats from sealing, where the springs and seats go. If so, you can soak a piece of cloth with CLR (wear gloves and follow the CLR’s handling instructions) and shove it into the valve body and let it sit in there to dissolve the hard water deposits. I’ve seen that work before. Hopefully it will work for you too.
Lucho, if the seats and springs are good, couple of other things could cause the drip. If the valve has a tension adjustment, a ring that’s part of the retaining nut, then, the tension could be too loose. The other possible cause could be hard water buildup inside the valve where seats and springs go. To get rid of that, I’ve used CLR. I’ve put CLR in a spray bottle and spray the inside of the valve. Then after 2-3 minutes, I spray water to remove all CLR. If you decide to use CLR, please follow the mfg’s use instructions. Hope this helps.

It's funny that all these corporations are pushing "environmentally friendly", but they are still telling you to throw away an entire part assembly when all it needs is a single cheap part. This is everything from shower parts to auto parts.
