The bottom row of titans in a maniple are optional so you can field a “legal” maniple with just the box.

This is best way to start playing. Much more playable than the grand master edition. If I started again I would run just the smaller titans. They are just more active in the game/more fun. The lighter maniples get better rules so these absolutely can take down the Warlord titans with luck and skill. Your gonna want a warlord for sure but this is a better way to start.

When I started playing in '92 you could buy 6 warlord titans for $20.00 . A box of 6 of them You could buy a metal titan for like $20. We had eldar titans, Ork titans, terrain from Space Marine and we were like 12 years old. Parents didn't mind paying those prices. GW went off the rails many years back and it's a shame.

I concur with you.Games Workshop has to be the greediest game company ever.I remember when the terminator box set came out.It cost $40 for a full squad of metal terminators including a heavy flamer and an assault cannon as well as a Chaplain and a Captain. When Adeptus Titanicus first came out you could buy the box set for $100 and you were good to go.

@@elsinorebrewing3841 Yeah, I bought 40k 2nd edition, warhammer fantasy, tyranid attack, Necromunda, etc... each of those boxes games were $60... with manuals, terrain, models, dice, templates, etc.... everything you needed for the game. Even at $160... that blows my head back. What's it cost for one of thse plastic molds, a nickel a piece? Unreal. If they were priced as they should they could easily quadruple thier sales to make up for it. Hell, 40k might be a household name by now.

@@mikey_vengenz I have seen GW re-work all of their games at least 5 times.When they get a game dead right such as Man O War with a perfect set of rules and reach market saturation they simply shit canned the game as they could not re=release it with new rules.GW has to be the greediest games company there is.

@@matthewwagner4042 Greedier than say...Apple? A company that will charge you $600-1600+ for a replacement motherboard when an independent electronics engineer would be able to fix it for $150 - $300 by the replacement of a single chip. I'm UK based, so I'm in a slightly better position when it comes to third party prices (£70 for me, which worked out to be something like $80-$90). Yes, GW charge a premium price for their miniatures, but when you are at the head of the pack you can afford to, and to give them their credit, the titan models are absolutely beautiful thanks to being scaled down versions of their giant Forge World cousins: The Warlord is leagues ahead of it's 1988 counterpart in terms of complexity, although I'd still probably see it more comfortably at the £55 price (£65 in the UK, though thanks to third party it's around the £52 - £60 range).

I might get this at some point to add to my collection. I already have 7 titans and 6 knights (grand master edition set, 1 extra warlord, single pair of Warhounds, and 1 of each Reaver box type) but am thinking of eventually getting this to add some more Reavers and Warhounds as well as getting some lancer knights.

What are you using for the "magnetized backer boards" for the tracking sheets? Only thing I see in the links is the self adhesive magnet sheets but those look too flexible???

Could use 6mm minis for troops. Besides GW's epic game their are several alternative 6mm scale miniature companies producing excellent epic scale faux 40k factions. Vanguard miniatures, onslaught minis, microworld games and khurasan miniatures.

Of course they exist... I started playing space marine in 1992 and the whole game is 40k in this scale with all the units.
