Ashley Crouch My rescue was so terrified of humans in fact he had never even been picked up by a human only kicked in beaten and starved pretty much this guy was running his home a puppy mill he’s the sweetest thing in the entire world he never leaves my side he is so appreciative of having a second life they can definitely turn that around as you can see that dog was already laying in her lap after only a couple of hours and sometimes it takes dogs years to trust humans again

Ive rescued nine dogs since I was 10 years old (when our last rescue died. He couldn’t be with other dogs and my mum had him before she had kids. So we waited to adopt another. Hence why I was 10) But we rescue ex racing greyhounds (they are put through so much when racing. Some owners are good to them but some are harsh and uncaring and just want money) but we always rescued older ones and have two at a time. And in January we rescued a podenco canario (hunting dog in Spain. They get sent out for the season and are starved and dehydrated because they think it makes them better hunters. Once the season is over the have a festival or celebration and they kill the dogs. Burn them, hang them, torture them and beat them. The kind ones let them run free. But the one we got. Reigna, she’s a beautifully matured girl. She’s so gentle and loving and gives amazing cuddles and just loves life. Nothing scares her and annoys her and she’s just so loving) but we always say after a dog passes away, that we have room to rescue another one who needs us just as much as the one who passed away. And that the previous dog had a home and love and never had to worry again that they’d be sent back, so they’d also love to have a new one come in and experience the love we have for a new rescue. So you need to remember that when your baby goes to rainbow bridge. They knew your love and kindness and a warm place to sleep and a bed and food and no pain or suffering. And you can give that to another rescue who’s looking to get out of their own hell.

I know what you're saying, but when you think about it, the love and loyalty of an animal is conditional on whether or not people have already shown them kindness. If an animal doesn't have a good reason to love people, it'll bite or run away. For a lot of people, when we see an animal we don't know, our instinct is to love them, even if they don't love or trust us at first. I wonder what would happen if we treated humans in the same way. I think if we did, we would see that a lot of people have the same capacity for love and loyalty that animals do. They just haven't been given the same chances.

Cherry I have to disagree with that because (especially dogs) have been known to be treated incredibly cruelly and yet still love the person that beats/starves them. You can show an animal only cruelty and it will love you and you can show a human only kindness and will get cruelty. I guess why people want to help animals is that animals never have a choice while humans for the most part can make some sort of choice to get out of situations. I could be jaded from all the work I did in the past with druggies/homeless who time after time made me think my efforts are better places with animals. I understand where you are coming from and it would be nice in an ideal world
