Welcome back to the channel!
In today's episode I introduce a new project to the channel, and boy does it need some work!
I'm excited to introduce my 1985 Honda Elite 150 Deluxe! Also known as a Honda Spacy in Japan, this JDM Honda scooter 150 was the top of the line back in 1985. It is the deluxe model which mean this Honda scooter comes with a flip up headlight! How many scooters have you seen with one of those?
This scooter restoration project is not going to be an easy one and is most definitely thebsrecord spec. Almost every panel on this Honda Elite 150 is either damaged, missing, or doesn't line up. Almost every aspect of this Honda scooter 150 will need to be looked at and addressed in one way shape or form. In any case I will be documenting this scooter build every step of the way and I hope you all enjoy!
For those interested in scooter rebuilds, check out my Honda Helix ( CN250 / Honda Fusion / Honda Spazio ) scooter project from my previous videos.
It's not an ae86 trueno coupe but it is another JDM icon worth saving. Also, the 150cc engine should be quick and the flip up headlight will be awesome!
Don't worry the Toyota Corolla ae86 project is still under way and we will be getting back into the swing of things after this video. We will continue to shave the ae86 engine bay and prep the ae86 build for final assembly and paint.
As always, stay tuned for more updates to come on the project ae86 and now the 1985 Honda Elite 150 Deluxe diy scooter restoration project

First comment was before watching. After watching 2 thumbs up to you I was elated when my no carburetor engine fired up with starter fluid. I bought one new in 86 these to date are the best mid class scooter ever made. Tbe higher end scooters improved over the years but these are the holy grail of 125/150cc class. Water cooled helped alot. If you ever want to sell this I would be happy to get it and finish the restore.

I’m excited to watch. I got a 85 ch150d as well I paid 500 for. It needed a fuel system overhaul. The petcock. All the lines and the carburetor. I bought the one off eBay I believe you got. I got the original one I’ll eventually rebuild. But for now it’s gave me 1400 miles of reliable fun. Burns oil and such but can’t complain. Keep it alive ! They love to run

I've been on the hunt for a nice red Elite with a pop-up headlight for a couple of years now. I didn't even realize there was a Deluxe version.

I had an '84 Elite Deluxe (the first year) with only a 125cc engine in about 2001. This little scooter is what got me into motor scooters. It was a complete basket case, but all the parts were there. I quickly came to appreciate the high Honda quality of these 1980s scooters. Other than replacing a bent wheel, new mirrors and a battery I didn't have to buy any parts for it. I repainted the plastic panels and sweet-talked my wife into sewing a new seat cover for it. I was really surprised how easy it was to get it running again. I rebuilt the carb, cleaned out the bad gas and replaced some vacuum hoses and it started right up. You've gotta love the oh, so 1980s pop-up headlight and foux digital gauge labeling. I rode it for a couple of years until I bought a basket case '87 Honda Helix.

I just got mine after looking for years. Same color. Mines in better shape and I know I got lucky. Runs and rides. Small cosmetic problems but no where near the missing panels you got.

25K miles on this bike is finally breaking it in compared to todays crap which will be lucky to see 2500 miles before serious work. For personal enjoyment and use it is worth the restore but resale you might just break even at best. I have 2 now. Picked up a running 84 125 the other day and just scored a FREE 84 150 non Deluxe in rough but complete shape that also runs but has no carb it was removed by previous owner. Spraying fuel in the throat and it fired up easy. I am so jazzed I got 2 within a week of each other.

I have an 86 150D and the headlight automatically pops up and was wondering where if there is a button that makes that go down? Thanks
@TheBSRecord
@TheBSRecord Год назад
There is not an accessible button on the dash that closes the headlight by itself. However, there is a green wire disconnect under the hood. It's located right by the motor that drives the headlight linkage. If you disconnect that wire with the bike turned off, the headlight will not raise. Hope this helps!

I'm all about saving old Honda's but that's too far gone. Parts will far exceed value. I would part it out.

Thanks for commenting, I've watched a couple of your elite vids in the past! I would probably agree woth you, but it's something for me to work on, learn, and restore. I enjoy the process, even if it's a bit more costly than buying a running and driving one. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed, stay tuned for the final product!

I would beg to differ, as long as you consider the labor to be an activity of zen/recreation/fun. You got lucky and found one in new condition. That's a whole different experience than bringing one back to life like this. I've restored 4 of these plus a 250. The 250 and one of the 150s were arguably in as bad or worse condition as this. But please feel free to keep parting these out and keeping the parts prices reasonable while complete bikes continue to go up in value. This scooter restored will be around longer than any of us. Also, nassau blue baby, yeehaaaww! best color!
