Thank you for caring for and saving the Suffolk!! They look like an "all-occasion" horse, which means they are perfection.

I follow a channel that covers everything Friesian Horses...and they too had extinction levels in the region of Friesland in the Netherlands ...I follow ''Stal G'' and I am happy to say that the numbers nationwide are increasing nationally...I wasn't aware the Suffolk Punch were found in similar straits...I am so glad that the efforts put into saving them are having success...Cheers from Scotland...😁

I first saw a horse of this breed in Montana who was used by our family for all horse logging! It's a very environmental way to log & the horses love the work!

AMAZING!! The ability to centrifuge out the X and Y sperm chromosomes is AMAZING! I was aware of using other mares as surrogate mothers of implanted embryos, as is happening with Queen Uniek (Friesian) on Yvonne's youtube channel which I follow. Thank you for your wonderful channel! God Bless!

I'm not sure what I think about surrogates and implanted embryos, what effect it has on their bonding, socializing etc., but it is apparently a great help in breeding. They've been doing it with polo ponies where I live for quite a few years now. Everyone seems happy. I really like the Suffolk, and I don't believe that horses have lost their relevance completely. We'll always need them.

I'm quite fond of them as well, having the good fortune to be around them at a historic site I worked at. They actually make lovely riding horses, in addition to being wonderful working animals.

Hi from Canada. I watch a chap in USA who has These magnificent horses and is working to perpetuate this breed. Check out his channel "Working horses with Jim.
@jandunn3075
@jandunn3075 11 месяцев назад
He's not working to perpetuate the breed Jim bred his Suffolk stud to a Belgium mare. The Amish that he bought the stud from are breeding suffolks I just wonder if they're registered.
@jandunn3075
@jandunn3075 11 месяцев назад
He has two Suffolk geldings and one Suffolk stud. Can't perpetuate the breed without Suffolk mares.
@annesoper911
@annesoper911 11 месяцев назад
My mistake, I thought he was considering not gelding his Suffolk stud because he is a good sperm donor but of course the sperm goes to whom whines to purchase it.
@jandunn3075
@jandunn3075 11 месяцев назад
@@annesoper911 Jim doesn't have the facilities to even collect sperm for straws. Is keeping that horse a stud because A. the horse's temperament allows it and B. he can breed it to his mare the Belgian Lady. He is doing nothing to perpetuate the breed.

Wonderful to see. Can I ask why the British cannot let a horse stand without holding under the chin. The head bobbing is the horse saying can you let me stand here without pressure on my head. It also relaxes the horse as it would us.

I've seen the price for a foal... no wonder they're almost extinct. Only the aristocracy can afford to purchase these beautiful animals. By denying access to the rest of society we are creating another dodo.
@dps6198
@dps6198 Год назад
There are many breeds of domesticated cattle, horses, dogs, cats, etc. that face extinction as well as those that are wild. Many will never be saved because there's no profit. Draft horses inevitable decline came at the start of the industrial revolution and unless there's a wealthy benefactor not much can be done. Take the Clydesdale. They iconic breed that pulls the Budweiser beer wagon in parades and other events. That breeds future would have been in doubt unless Budweisers billions weren't around to save it. I applaud efforts but saving breeds are expensive and the way environmentalist wants to measure every cubic inch of methane each herbavore expells no breed is safe.

Sure wish these horses could retire. Someday.
@DeCasoU1
@DeCasoU1 Год назад
This breed probably existed before Crisp's horse, there are references to this horse type going back to the early C16 - they might go back even further. They are working horse, but they can do almost anything. They also really like interactions with humans and given the 20% rule and the rise in ever heavier people wanting to ride horses coupled with their remarkable temperament they are an ideal solution to the problem of people riding undersize horses. And they like to do things, including outsmarting folk, just because they can. They won't retire
