Pick green tomatoes before the first frost so that you don't loose your last harvest. I planted tomato vines from seed in early spring and harvested many bowls of tomatoes and still had many green fruit in the beginning of November. I saved them by bringing them indoors.

An old timer from Alaska taught me to save those green tomatoes and keep them attached to the vine as much as possible. They ripen more evenly with the stem button still intact. :)

I've had very good luck ripening cherry tomatoes even the green ones. I just keep them on that vine for a bit and as it dries up takes them off except for the little top. I've never had an issue with ripening as long as it's near other fruit that gases off.

You've shared some heavy wisdom this time. I hope people see this as more of a philosophical video, rather than a gardening one. The connection our species has with nature is astounding, and the older I get, the more I come to understand it. Watching the seasons, and learning ways to appreciate all of them, in the moment, is an incredible journey. I always rebuke those who suggest that everything is ugly and dead in fall and winter, and try to help them understand that there is purpose and beauty in the ebb and flow of the seasons in our lives. From the weather, to the budding flower, to the oldest standing tree. The older i get, the easier it makes our looming mortality, the greater my purpose when I live within nature... and not a construct of human imagination. I'll be thinking pretty deep tonight thanks to your video here, I appreciate it :) FYI: I should be getting the deed to my new house in january, which means a new garden and much much more land to work with. I'm looking forward to cultivating it, and admiring the 250 year old willow in my soon-to-be back yard.

Fall is the best time to work outside. No bugs, no overheating, no dodging frogs, toads and snakes as you walk. Just fresh, crisp air, crunching leaves, the wind through the bare trees, and the birds still singing no matter what happens. This is not the end, just a transition. It's up to us to help.

Don't read too much into your love of the fall. I also love that time of year over summer and absolute winter. God made us all different and those of us who LOVE fall are just enjoying the change from the heat of summer and/or the beautiful colors the trees exhibit at that time of year. Enjoy his blessings!

I think fewer people give your videos a chance, they might expect very interest based content, or someone comparable to a stereotype. But this is gardening, music, and meaningful thoughts for humans in general. Done in your own way. So I'd say this is a lot more than a "suburban homestead" and not very represented by that title. Well, every home is much more than it seems.

It has been hard to reach the right audience I suppose, because even amongst subscribers, I'm not sure many have subscribed because of my personality, and would watch just to hear my ramblings. It seems that they are information driven, and I personally prefer to tell a story than to create purely practical tutorials. I think the strategy with the latest 2 videos works better but, I'll only know for sure if the numbers hold outside of the spring hype and the when the novelty wears off.

Genesis 1 27¶So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. 28¶Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.” 29¶Then God said, “Look! *I have given you every seed-bearing plant throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food* . 30And I have given every green plant as food for all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, and the small animals that scurry along the ground-everything that has life.” And that is what happened. 31¶Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good! And evening passed and morning came, marking the sixth day.
