I'm going to show you how to collect marigold seeds so you never have to buy the plant again. Not only does it save money but if you have a specific breed of them that you like, then saving marigold seeds is the way to go

Hey plant fam! When selecting seeds for germinating pick the largest firmest seeds out of your seeds for better chances to germinate 🌻

Instead of cutting the plant to die..can i just deadheading the flower and let it dry? And which flower bloom size should i pick? The full bloom is better or the one almost dry? I did try collect the seed but most of the seed not fully black and it is thin..i dont knownwhen is thr best time to picknthe flower to get better fully thick black seed

@@AnwarriAbdullah you can deadhead the dried flower for sure n keep the seeds! Idk which flowers have been pollinated by the bees so it's hard to pick and choose which which flower. Pollination rates can vary depending on how many insects have pollinated

If y'all didn't already know, marigolds aren't pest-proof at all but they do have a special talent. They attract tiny parasitic wasps that eat aphids and lay their eggs in the larvae of whiteflies, moths, mealybugs, and stinkbugs. So marigolds don't repel pests, they call in targeted airstrikes on them.

my goofy behind just discovered this today! I pull off the heads as they die, then realized how many seeds I had from just one flower. So, I started saving the seeds today! I'll dry them all out and no doubt add a few seeds in the empty spaces where I've placed my roses this year. If for next year some of my marigolds die off, I'll have seeds to replant. We shall see how it goes. It gets cold and wet where I am and sometimes it'll rain more than I think it should causing root rot, so hopefully, harvesting these seeds will allow me to keep growing marigold in the Spring and perhaps into Fall. Maybe beyond that, depends on the frost. Thank you for this video. Took me a minute to find you and what I wanted to know specifically.

Okay so I just started 6 marigolds 2 are sprouting right( you know like you can see the green loop) and 2 look like just a brown stick barely poking out right now and the last two, nothing yet. So my question is: is there an "upside down" way to plant the seed?
@TheAdhdGardener
@TheAdhdGardener 3 года назад
If I understand your question correctly youre wondering if positioning your seed in the soil right is upside down or not? If so, then technically yes. For most seeds there is one end that pops out the stem n other root. Some seeds however ya can't even tell which side is which(imagine the round brassica seeds). Besides the plant will fix direction n come up regardless.😁🌻
