I just found your channel about a month ago and I'm so inspired. My garden this year is in memory of my youngest daughter who died in December last year. I have a few flowers planted, but I was pretty overwhelmed by it all this year, and I wish I'd planted more. I'm going to plant her a million zinnia seeds this fall, she would have loved your garden!
🙏🧸💕Hugging you so tight! I have 3 grown children who are my world and have almost lost each one due to car accidents!Worst times of my life! Holding you in my heart ❤️
The problem with your videos is that I find myself mesmerized and wanting to learn everything you do that I don’t accomplish much in my home😂 You are such a great teacher! I love the zinnias and hope to grow them soon.
I will get some of my zinnas trmw.I too thought they had to die on stem. You are such a wonderful teacher.Tho once i start watching your video's i cant hardly stop, then i dont get much done. You are so soothing to watch, makes this old 73 yr old heart happy.God bless you and your wonderful family.😊
Your lovely daughter shows every sign of. Being as industrious and wise as you are. How nice that your mother-in-law passed these beautiful flowers to you. You in turn can pass these flowers on to your children and they can share these wonderful memories with their children. I'm sure your husband must be proud and touched that you carry on this tradition.
Absolutely stunning. I hope my daughters continue growing my zinnias and hand this art down to my grandchildren for future generations. One day they will say Nanny Matthews grew these in 2022 and now 40 years later my grandchildren will be sharing these with their children xxx
Ruth Ann I am enjoying your channel immensely. I recently found you and am binge watching your videos. Yesterday my grandchildren were here. At the end of the day we were all tired so I gathered them on my knee to show them the video of Poppy having her 13 Piglets. Well… my 6 year old grandson couldn’t get enough of your farm animals. He also has a little green ride on like the 3 little boys have. He said to me, “Mimi I am going to ride mine in the snow too!!!” 😂❤🇨🇦
I learned so much and love your story about your mother-in-law passing down the seeds. I'm going to save mine and give some to my mother and grandmother. Thank you!
I just love Morgan County Seed Company! Back in the 90’s I lived among the Mennonite community there, and had many friends that I’ve missed! I raised sheep then, & also raised produce for the auction house, & bought most of my supplies at Morgan Co. They were just getting started then. I sure do miss that community! I’m in SE Missouri now, just on the cusp of the Ozarks & 5 miles from the mighty Current River!
I have been storing seeds for years. Both wild flowers and domestic. I have always had houseplants too. I learn how to propagate seeds, slips, twigs and whatever I can get to grow. I have always shared what I have from food, crafts, ideas for creating or improving things, gift ideas or whatever will make others happy. I never ask for renumeration because God says he gives free and so should we. My dad always was available to help someone. From butchering to tilling a garden. Greed and self importance has made this world so not even the children we've raised are willing to have an unselfish spirit. I get great joy in giving a person a gift. Even if it's a handmade potholder, than having someone begrudgingly give me somthing back... Please share with others. Family, friends, neighbors, workmates, schoolmates or whoever you see. A small gift brings so much joy. Remember when little kids would be so proud to pick someone some wildflowers or a handmade card. Such happiness. Even if you think they're just weeds...that's where the fancy flowers originated. Thank you...
I am loving your channel! Last year was my first year growing a flower garden. It was beautiful! I thought I had to let the flowers die and naturally drop seeds for next year. Now I know how to keep the beauty longer and keep my seeds! Thank you so very much!
What?!! It’s this easy??? So exciting!!!! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing how to do this!! I’m absolutely going out and picking flowers today and saving seeds!!! Blessings to you!🤗
I had no idea I could have saved seeds from our bouquets! I threw them away. Oh no! Won't anymore! I thought they had to dry/ mature to brown on the plant first!
Such beautiful zinnias!!! Thank you for sharing how you seed save. I waited for my zinnias to die back before collecting the seeds this year. I’ll try your way next year.
I enjoy very much watching your videos and would it be possible to get a list of them all so I can watch every video you have put out? It would be much appreciated. Thank you so much. I'm definitely hooked. I also like to can and garden. I'm learning lots from you. Wish I had a milk cow!! Lol Your parenting is "spot on". I'm from the SE corner of Iowa and would love to hear you speak somewhere if you could give that info too. Please and Thank yous :)
I would love to get some of your seeds! This is the second year I have added flowers to my garden. I don't have very many but next year I would love to have more. I looked for a email address to email you but didn't see one. I have almost watched all your videos and some more than once. I even got your pattern!
Your zinnias are incredible….so huge and gorgeous colours! My favourite flower actually but never have been able to grow them like yours. When do you sow the seeds? And is it direct to the garden? Or do you start them indoors first? I live in Edinburgh Scotland so our climate is a bit different than yours….we don’t get too harsh winters..mostly wet and rainy and can get some snow. Now looking for huge zinnia seeds!!! Thank you for your marvellous channel….my new favourite! Xx
Does it matter if the seeds are dark or still light colored? I took seeds of a spent flowers and as I worked my way toward the center they got lighter.
This is a wonderful video...but I am a little confused. I thought the seeds continue to mature in the living flower until the flower dies and dries up. If you take seeds from a flower that is still blooming they might not make viable plants or might not even germinate. Is this not true???? Anyone?
Yea, that’s what I hear and read on the web, but honestly everything available on the web is from people who just garden and have no education. So I wonder if they just parrot what they’ve heard, which is the flower must develop on the stalk. I mean, I don’t think she is lying, and is apparently been doing it herself. I would like to hear from her a bigger explanation though.
From your "About" page it says you are in Iowa. We have Morgan County Seed Company in Morgan County, MO. Love them. Are you talking about the same business or just the online catalog?
Are the seeds actually viable picking them at that point? Or is there a certain point I need to wait for with the inner blooms? Thank you so much! I’m hoping I can be successful with this!😊
Zinnias are my favorite flower! We grew giant ones from seed this year for the first time and I saved some seeds. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 I hope it works! Question: do you plant them in starter pots or directly in the ground?
