Less light equals higher chances of rot since it’s taking longer for your soil to dry out. When the seasons changed, this spot that was once getting ample light was now in shade and over time, it began to rot. Also, I found a rubber band tying the trunks together so that didn’t help. Now that’s it’s better acclimated to soil, I’ll water just enough until water comes out of the drainage hole, and water again when soil is completely dry.

Idk if anyone else is having this issue but I'm having a very hard time hearing you in some of your videos. It's like you're not close enough to the microphone or something. You're very muffled in a lot of your vids and I love watching them but you speak so fast that I can't keep up with reading it so I have absolutely no idea what the videos are about other than what I can see you are doing. 💗🥰😍🪴🌵🌱

Krystal I'm glad I found this video again....I knew you would have a rescue video on a money tree because you are the Queen of plant rescue....I have one that's about the same size and struggling and you may have just saved her life...thank you...can you please do a much needed update on the money tree..thanks again

Keep us updated! I got a money tree and have mine about 5 ft away from a grow light (the same one you have) that’s on for 6 hours a day and it’s did good. Its got new growth and I only water it when it’s dry.
I actually had an issue with my money tree. Cleaned her up and put in a vase with water. She is loving it !!! I’m almost thinking of just keeping in water

Thank you! I have a croton that had a HORRIBLE spider mite problem when I bought it home. I was able to treat it using your videos, but it's lost a ton of leaves. 2 stocks have lots of new growth with bright green fresh leaves. I'm going to try to save it

My money tree is what most would say “neglected” and gets the least amount of light. You see her, she is thriving. Occasionally I rotate her since she loves to move around. So I only turn her pots around every so often. I can’t remember the last time I gave her water too. Less is better for some! ❤
Ooof you just reminded me I really need to water my money tree. I repotted mine a while ago and haven‘t watered it since. But now it‘s been over a month and I think it really needs some water eventually 😅
It took me 3 dead money plants to figure out what they need! I had it originally in a south west facing window but my house is long so when it got its sun wasnt till like 5 after being blocked by trees. I moved it to a south facing window still with trees but bright indirect light area. And i cannot forget the neglect! 😂 i use to watch it like a hawk! Now im like you live or die you played the game of thones son! It got tons of new growth and is bush. It needs a new pot but im scared to change it cuz i dont want it to be number 4! Its 3 passed on sibilings came from clearance racks so you win some you lose some...repeatedly! 😢
I got two cuttings of this species, which is essentially what you have here, and it took EIGHT MONTHS to root it. Two sticks. I had them in water and soil alternating because they weren't rooting. They finally rooted in water. It can take a long time.
i have a leaf cutting from this that is FINALLY rooting in water. but i can put the trunk in water and it’ll root eventually? i’m willing to wait. i loved this tree so much and do not want to give up on it
My money tree was in its original pot and struggled for a whileeeeee, after I saw your video that it may be getting strangled at the roots, I checked and it had a big thick rubber band wrapped around all the trunks. I cut the band and repotted it. Most of them rotted (I think the pot was way too big 😭) but I saw this video and was able to save 2 trunks. Cut them and let them dry, repotted today in succulent mix!!! Hoping she comes back!!! I don’t have a grow light though- do you think direct sun from the window will be enough? Your videos are so incredibly helpful and teach me so much to be a good plant mama!
I wish i had known about this a few months ago, my baby got the rot. I tried to propagate her green stems. but it's a slow go. still hopeful. thanks for sharing!
i propagated a leaf in water and about 1-2 month later it’s starting to root in water!!!!! i just did a stem propagation in water and have hope it’ll do the same. i lost most of my money tree to rot due to electrical tape so i’m trying all different methods 😂 have hope they are resilient

I've had rot. But I thought of doing the opposite. Cutting off the top and cleaning the roots. But guess I should have cut the roofs completely off instead... huh?
Hey! I really appreciate your videos, you’ve been super helpful for me over the past year 😊 …also, If you have the time, I was wondering if you could help answer a burning question for me. I have a succulent that that was gifted to me. She’s a special succulent though, because it has been cut into a tree shape! It’s super cool looking, but I can’t seem to find anything online on how to care for it. I’m just wondering if I should treat it like a normal succulent, or give it some extra TLC because of its *extra* shape. Any advice at all would be much appreciated 😊 Note: I have it in a 4 inch pot right now, which seems kind of small but google told me not to upgrade too drastically with any succulent.
So this is hilarious that you posted this six months ago - I had my second kid nearly six months ago. We had to spend 5 days in the NICU, and while we were there my brother in-law (who knew we were there) sent me a ton of questions and his money tree. I don't know anything about money trees, and he has a history of not listening to my plant advice anyway. 😅 So i said i didn't know. And he proceeded to pester me for another half an hour. So i ended up sending him a screenshot of Google. I wish i had had the brainpower at the time to find this video to send him. Simply a funny coincidence that made me think of this story

I have one that recently starting yellowing and drooping. Had some Root rot. I cleaned up repotted it a couple weeks ago. I’m going to use this info if it’s still not doing so well!

When I bought my money tree, they were taped and wired together, with rocks and moss glued to the base of all 6 trees. I've never been able to get the glued items removed. I'm scared of hurting the trees. Tips? Also, I thought they liked shade! So I've just moved mine to a north facing window so they get brighter light but indirect.
i think if you cut off the bottom like this than should be fine. tape caused rot with mine and i propagated a leaf in water which is finally starting to root! i just took a stem into water as well, hopeful it’ll do the same. now i’m going to cut the bottom of the trunk like in the video since it rotted and this is the last of the tree i have. i am hopeful. i dont want to give up on her
I have one of those twisted money trees. Via target lol the one in the middle rotted the other day which low-key was fine. It had no growth on it and it made it so everything got gapped perfectly. I keep my money tree by a window, but it doesn’t get too much direct sunlight. A lot of indirect sunlight. She thriving but should she be moved to a more direct area?
Ahh! I threw my money tree into the forest to become one with nature again. I thought she was a goner after the root rot. I propagated her, though, and I'm seeing some success. All is not lost.
I thought you did a video about this. I found one of mine soft at the bottom. I'm going to try it. My family thinks I'm going to kill it... hopefully, i can prove them wrong
Hey there, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience performing a trunk cut like this but for a ficus ginseng. I cut off the less appealing part of the trunk a few weeks back (not rot just for aesthetic purposes) and did not leave a single feeder root. I then put some root hormone on the cut and planted it in well draining soil in its usual sunny position. Over the next few weeks it lost a few leaves but has now stopped, so I’m hoping some roots have started to form. Has anyone had success doing this? Thanks :)
