Saving Saabs Episode 1 - Trying to Get a New Project 9-3 Running!

I remember spending a day with a mate working on his 05 9-3. Bugger wouldn't start no matter what we did. Turned out it was a £10 fuel pressure regulator. Now she runs like a dream.

The electrodes looks perfectly fine. Those plugs are platinum ones and should look like that.

A lil' late here, but I like this series, esp. seeing OG 9-3s like mine.

Hey I’ve heard there’s a little fuel injection ecu that’ll cause a no start on 93’s. It’s in line with the fuel rail best to my knowledge.

Yeah that sounds about right. Hours of troubleshooting a non-starter, and it was the gauge cluster.....very Saabish! Had a few weird moments like that myself, but still love em. XD Great idea for a series. Should be some good variety.

I know that everyone throws away the manifold heatshield but it helps keep intake air temp down.

When you said gauge cluster.. My first guess was immobilizer..

same shit happen to my saab because one of the starter wire skrews popped off and its started "arching" and it cause the imobilizer to kick in...all i did was take out all the fuses turn the key to start it..then put all the fuses back turn key and it started

Random Question: Why is it called a Dane 9-5? Ive looked all over google but cant find anything. Does it have to do with Denmark or something? Denmark is a fellow Scandinavian country, thats where I got that thought from.

Hi! I have the same problem on my OG 9-5 but instead i swapped a SID from another car. Could it be the problem? Unfortunately I don't have a Tech II to scan it. Engine has compression, air, fuel and spark, cps shows 200rpm while cranking but still no luck at starting it! Put new spark plugs (correct resistor ones) in, nothing. Things I swapped/worked on are: SID, power window switch, mirrors switch and took out the driver seat to change the leather and took it in. I'm just about to fire it up :,)
