Saving Your Disaster Campaigns - France's CRUSHING debt -495,000gold 

Turn 66. The men dream of the long ago days of turn 25 or so when they had boots and hats to eat. Now all that keeps them going is the hope of fighting some Spanish or Germans, and taking their boots to eat. But I have higher aspirations. The histories tell of the times before my father’s reign. I swear it - France shall have baguettes once again.

Just for the sake of it, wipe the debt. This was very fun to watch.

This has been the best campaign I've ever watched. I'm so used to Legend just steam rolling, but every victory he wins seams like a drop in the bucket to the inevitable collapse that's coming. I wish this was an actual campaign

I think this has to be one of Legend's greatest TW achievements.

This is extremely hypothetical and very inaccurate but I thought I'd do it anyway... Assuming the 'Florin' used in M2TW refers to the Florentine Florins used in Western Europe from 1252 onwards, each coin has 3.5g of 'pure gold' in it. The current price of gold per gram is £31.61. Therefore a single Florin would be worth £110.63GBP equivalent. Taking this into consideration, the modern equivalent debt of France in this campaign when it was sent to LOTW was £64,869,449.32 (64 million, or approximately $82.5M USD for my American fellows.) By the end of the campaign LOTW cut this debt to approximately £36.7M GBP/$46.7M USD. Again, I reiterate this is highly ahistorical and totally inaccurate but I could only work with the little and ambiguous information I was given regarding florins.

It really is amazing to see an empire come back to life like this.

Watching this years later, and watching it gave me fun much more than latest wh3 videos. I guess that is just me but maybe this game needs a new major historical medieval game. Not just historical, but medieval. Heavy knights, battle lines, generals, agents, tactics instead of winds of magic, strategy instead of trying to have more monsters... yeah yeah, i know that is just not a popular opinion and it is just me but anyway.

Even 4 years later, watching Legend in massive debt and saying stuff like "we need to get to Brabant, but we have to deal with the Spanish first" fills my heart with pride.

It occurs to me that the French situation here is a bit like the end of the Western Roman Empire - massive debts* , a shrinking population and economy, a competent army but stretched thin, and if you suffer one stack wipe, it's all over and the eastern neighbours can overun and annex at will. *Technically they could still find money to pay mercenaries and bribe Visgoths not to sack Rome, for a while, but the habits of corruption and tax avoidance by the Roman elite meant that they were usually in debt to their Germanic mercenaries, who had to be promised land instead, because the Roman generals and governors kept stiffing them - which was obviously bad for the defense situation, when they needed the mercenaries to defend the borders and not go raiding into the interior for their back pay.

The greatest achievement of this SYDC is all the executions turning French generals into evil laughing villains.

I think if you just consolidated the British Isles and then just made one or two great stacks you could call it GG. In time you'd come out of debt so I'd consider that campaign saved.

Your goal for this campaign was getting the player out of debt and doing all the military unit missions, you could. I'd have liked to see you do what you said you'd do. Don't get me wrong, you've done a magnificent job. You've paid down 200k in gold and taken a -18k a turn position into +25k a turn. This episode you've reduced the time to get out of debt from 40 turns to a mere dozen. The Moors, Poles an Hungarians appear to be a lot more of a threat than the HRE, Spain and Sicily.

Here is an interesting question: If you never play the campaign and just watch ( as in - you play as rebels and never fight whoever is assaulting you ), what AI faction would eventually come on top? If not conquering the entire map then biggest chunk of it.
