Gorudo Smith That's taken totally out of context. He was confused as to why the save was lost and then when the family got assassinated he found out why it was and proceeded to save it. No different than prodding the situation to find a weakness like he always does.

I think I can understand how this campaign went so wrong: Carthage is spread WAY out and defending it can seem daunting since you're likely to be at war with 5-6 factions almost immediately. This guy (IMO), probably turtled in the beginning, which gave Rome too much time to mobilize troops. I first played Carthage this way and got creamed EVERY time. You gotta be aggressive and a bit clever to win as Carthage - I usually wait 1-2 turns for the Scipii to siege Syracuse, then rock my army up to Messana and take it from the 1-2 units they have left inside. Then I can usually beat a weakened Scipii force down in Syracuse and BAM! Sicily is mine within the first 5 turns WITHOUT waging war on Greece and I'm ready to go knocking on the Brutii's door.
@porcelainfox1839
@porcelainfox1839 5 лет назад
Nice one. I usually make an alliance with Spain/Iberia, and at first turn attack Scipii, and taking a control over a sea, and send an army to Numidians. Spain/Iberia is allways betraying me when Sicily is mine, and Numidia is destroyed or about to be. Greeks are quite passive, probably occupied by young boys.
@doubledouble4g379
@doubledouble4g379 5 лет назад
I try to extort money for trade rights and map info from the Scipii first - seems historically proper to stab Romans in the back ;) Numidia can be an oddly trustworthy ally in my experience - in two separate instances, I've reached the end game, battling Egypt and Pontus, and still had my 2nd turn alliance with Numidia holding strong. I don't like to fight them if I don't have to as they're spread-out and I'd like to save the manpower for battling the forces of Rome. Spain has gotta go QUICK or they'll bog you down, draining your money and resources for more important campaigns against the Romans, Macedon and Greece. If you leave them too long, they'll just take a couple of easy settlements from Gaul and you'll have more work to do. I usually ally with Gaul if I can, then send an army of mercenaries along the south coast of Spain and take those two settlements first, then the two northern ones. Once you've got them down you're good to join the inevitable dogpile on Gaul.
@porcelainfox1839
@porcelainfox1839 5 лет назад
I like first one. Stab them, stab them deep. :D I played 4 times with Carthage, 1st was on medium/medium and they betrayed me before turn 5, 2nd and 3rd time I played on very hard/very hard and they did a same, at turn 8 and 12. So, I don't trust them. Yeah, Gauls, I forget about them, and Macedonians. I usually stay in alliance with them, although Gauls are close so it wont last a long. Spain is not a concern. They lack of cavalry and barbarian spearmens.

I once had a Very Hard Brittania campaign where i purposely let Rome get as big as possible. I blindly marched one of my 3 stacks down into Roman territory and found my army surrounded by about 40 Roman stacks. There's nothing i could do to save that army. I could take out nine armies but they eventually wore me down. My two other armies played defense at some bridge. They just kept throwing armies into the meat grinder again and again. I don't think i was making any progress because the computer cheats.

Why do people bitch about "cheese"? Don't they realize armies in real life have been actively trying to achieve "cheese" over their opponents since the dawn of human conflict? Why do you think the Carthagenians used elephants? Should Romans just have dropped down their shields and demanded a ban? Or should the Byzantines not have used Greek fire against ships, the English stop using bows and the Mongols abandon their cavalry in favor of a "fair" and "honorable" fight? Historical strategy games that allow someone to use clever, abusive strats against their foes are just one step closer to reality in my book.

Nicholas Hatzis Ehm, what part you don't get of ''game'', ''skill'', ''proving something and having fun'', ''not reality'', ''not life and death battle'' and so on? Do you think you will see persons in historical battles videos commenting like they would to a battle played by a gameplayer on YT (let alone seeing historical reports of damn soldiers or commanders of the time literally complaining on how a tool that they faced in battle wasn't fair)? Especially, to be specific, on how things like HORSES AND BOWS aren't fair lol, do you really think that people claims cavalry and bows aren't fair? And what is the context and what are the subjects? What are the numbers (I assume they are at least more than one under this video or spreaded out in Legend's recent videos) of ''people''? You don't seem to explain what ''cheese'' isn't worth at all of critics and who did, are you shouting at clouds perhaps?
@nicholashatzis
@nicholashatzis 5 лет назад
@@dusk6159 I simply argued that war isn't fair, and a game that offers experienced players mechanics (not glitches) that confuse or overwhelm the enemy does so rightfully. I'm new to Legend's videos but I've heard him mention several times that people in the forum and sometimes comments complain about his playstyle. I believe that they are innacurate in accusing him of cheese, based on what I said before. I doubt any sane person would consider horses and bows unfair nowadays, but let's not forget how 13th century Asia & Europe was almost completely incapable of dealing with Mongol horse archers, for example.
@dusk6159
@dusk6159 5 лет назад
Now that's a bit more clear, but again what are we talking about? Don't get me wrong, maybe it's Legend at the base that didn't care to specify the things and the actual points of people that he answered against so you would be to blame just for supporting this common and regrouped shouting at clouds and air circle, but on what are we opening our mouths and believing for? Did these legendary internet guys were stupidly talking about pulling off and recharging with melee cavalry or using AI's idiocy in battle and campaign (better start challenging ourselves with a ban on pulling out after sending a cavalry unit to attack or recreate the AI to be at least similar to a player or something, lol)? Or sensed arguments like the cheesy mechanic of exploiting AI insanity in, per say, sieges, delaying settlements attack etc etc? I'm just here to clarify and understad things, not to ruin your circlejerking and windmills bashing. That is a ''war unfairness'' (if you would call unfairness fighting an enemy that isn't at this top condition in military or country, hasn't the time to adapt or analyze your style and bring a way to battle you etc etc or again pulling out and recharging with melee cavalry or escaping like those horse archers too though) that is far from an effective example like a virtual Greek Fire ship but with magical invulnerable materials instead of the usual ones or undefatable superhuman soliders/commanders instead of your peer enemy, atomic bombs when the enemy has no more fighters to intercept the bomber or gas against tribes/nations without knowledge or gas masks, and surely it wouldn't be comparable to the things you can do in the games Rome 1 and Medieval 2 like factually command and move away/immobilize for turns enemy armies as you please but with the appearance of not using those green letters in that black tab unviolated and the money to build a fort used.

The only person griping about cheese are Legend and you. But really he just assumed the guy didn't want to use his general's body guard. Did the guy say he didn't want to use them because it felt cheesy? I don't think I've heard anyone argue these units are cheesy. Mostly, I'm just peeved that somebody gave him their save file, and he took a nice big shit on him. It doesn't matter what the circumstances are, don't shit on people who are asking for your help. Politely decline, or help.

Trying to understand how someone can even begin to mess up a R:TW campaign without at least being Dacia or Numidia, and not know the basics of how to blitz money and trade agreements, and use not-basic unit compositions very effectively. In the case of Carthage, Rome, Egypt, etc? I just don't see it. Even in the situation at hand, I was with legend, I didn't see a disaster. R1 is simply the easiest of TWs I have played; yet still the second most fun.

Eh...back in my early tw days I fucked up a carthage campaign. Territory wise I had somehow gotten myself exiled near massalia because at the time I had fancied myself hannibal reincarnated and had sent my main military traipsing through that region thinking I’d get to rome from the north. Then my starting towns got attacked and wrecked. Unfortunately at the time I had simultaneously messed up my economy. The combined effects of an overinflated army, as well as some pop issues forced me to keep all the taxes low sending me into the red. As such I couldn’t muster more troops to defend the homeland while the real but way too expensive army was farting into the wind in southern france. In the end I blamed my brother who had suggested I change my management style which set off this snowball effect. The campaign was probably salvageable for a while but at the time I was salty (as soon as the death spiral had started) and simply let things deteriorate to a point where I think I even gave up carthage and lost interest in that save file entirely.

Legend, I love this series! This id my favorite thing to watch on YT right now and it is a great concept! One thing I have to address though since you keep bringing it up: Javelins aren't that bad and can be brutally effective if you position them right. if you can get them on the walls and then throw their javelins at point point blank they can clear them off wonderfully and take few causalities themselves. In tight quarters they can be devastating and turn a battle. They are really good at fighting in cities where they can take elevated or flaking positions and take out huge swathes of enemies. Plus their javelins are ap so they can even take out armoured units. They suck at open field battles though where cav can easily catch them and they tend to get tangled up if pursued by infantry. But they do have their use and can really shine if micro'ed properly. Give them a chance bro!

Hello people, i need some help. I am a veteran trying some mods after years of not playing. I play SS6.4 Historical, i took entire Italy after a long fight but some of my cities have unrest that never go down (30+ turns past), i am speaking for the unrest icon not distance from capital or religious arest. For example Palermo had alwyas 40% unrest and now its 55% after 30turns, there is no spy, some towns have governor some others not, its doesn't reduce the unrest.. No other soldiers or characters are near my towns.. What can i do?

@Thessaloz
@Thessaloz 5 лет назад
If i kill the entire city. it makes them weak but unrest will grow again, this isn't the problem, only a temporary solution. For example after the rebelion in Palermo the city had 13units and out of the city a general with really good units appears and Sicily resurected.. After i crushed them the city was ok, but as the time pass the pop grow is really big and they start having unrest AGAIN. Its not a problem now but when the pop grow more i will have to send 10 units... My core regions are fine. Its propably something that have to do with the culture and they will always have unrest.. They told me this is the best mod and i already found many bugs.. :( I want to try to destroy even the buildings that have diffrent culture than me, but it will take 100 turns to build them all in this mod and i am not sure if this is the problem or its just a really bad feature in this mod..

@Kabcr
@Kabcr 5 лет назад
@@041mikey Not at all. While I understand criticisms of the game's score, mostly that it's not as upbeat as previous entries, you can't really compare them. Rome 2 is certainly a lot more subdued, but that's the point: it has a cinematic feel to it, instead of being "gamefied". Instead of being catered towards how a player feels when commanding an army, it instead opts to be very ambient and not at all active in how you play. While you may feel this is a misstep because it doesn't get you pumped/is boring, I enjoy it immensely precisely because it fits in with the rest of the look and feel of the game. It's just a preference, in the end. I still hate the streamlined campaign gameplay, even if the battles are fun.

I do like atmosphere and stuff, but honestly Rome 2's soundtrack is like the worst in the series. Maybe on par with Empire. I mean, when music makes the player insane you really gotta question who the fuck thought that this music style was a good idea. There are probably like 3-4 people that actually somehow managed to enjoy this cacophony, you included. I'm not trying to offend you, but you definitely are a weirdo if you like Rome 2 soundtrack that much. But I gotta say that Richard Beddow really improved since. He managed to write some nice tracks for Attila, and Warhammer and Thrones of Britannia both have really good OST.

If you get the disc version you can have two copies of the game without Steam mucking everything up. One copy for the normal game. One copy for this Darth Mod. That's why I don't use digital copy anything anymore. Plus Steam won't even work for me now so F them and their Windows business meeting handshakes behind closed doors to F us the customers. What is wrong with Windows 7? Why do I need another Windows when 7 works just fine? They won't stop either. Eventually you'll be paying sub fees for Windows and Steam. Disconnect from Steam at the very least. Crack any games that require their DRM. They are stealing your time by forcing you to hassle around with updates and everything for a 2004 single player game offline. Then the Steam updates might mess up mods. Or they take classic Rome away and shut it down. You want to play Rome again? Buy the remaster again and again as they remonetize it many times over. And update to Windows 12.
