Jimmy Kay from Canada's The Metal Voice tracked down and did an in-depth interview with Saviour Machine's mastermind, singer Eric Clayton. A man who went into hiding and has not done a major interview in 20 years. The two spoke about his new solo Album 'A Thousand Scars', an upcoming Saviour Machine album, his reasons for leaving and coming back into the music business, the Book of Revelation and it's influence in pop culture, as well as his infamous good bye video message in 2009 plus a lot more...

I love Savior Machine! It brought two worlds together for me. The beauty of Goth and my Christianity. Eric, I felt your lyrics were flawless!!

First discovering this band as a teenager through the Christian Goth website around 2002, to being an adult now at 32 and having come to Catholicism from over a decade of being lost and irreligious. I can say I’ve enjoyed Saviour Machine over all these years and they still influence me. Listened to American Babylon just now which led me to this video. Deo gratias.

I found Saviour Machine as a teen in the late 90's at a store I would later work in, starting with the Legend albums. Seeing them play at Cornerstone Festival in 2001 was one of the greatest musical expierences I've ever had. To this day I my Dad and I still listen to their tracks. A lot of folks around me couldn't make sense of the ska/punk kid who had an "apocolyptic goth rock opera" streak. I 'm nearly 40 now and folks still dismiss it.

I absolutely love everything about this interview! Eric Clayton is an amazing artist, musician & still has a great voice (I've watched, loudly, the videos of him & the 9). Can not wait for all his new music.. Saviour Machine has been one of those bands I've been wanting to to come back..

Saw them live at TOMFest Northwest in '97 and became an instant fan. Eric is the best live performer ever, hands down.

Maybe after 38 years like Brian Wilson Eric completes his masterpiece. Maybe not. I just love this man for all the joy his music has brought me. Eternally, In Christ, Thank you, Eric

Being a Christian who loves metal, I just found Savior Machine in 2022. I love his stage presence I love the lyrics I love the gothic music part of it and I love the fact that they're the only band that I've ever heard of the did this. He was 20 years before his time. Huge kudos to him and God bless anything he puts his hands on. Continue to do your music and never doubt yourself. Jesus saves!

I honestly had no idea that Eric was still alive. I'm so glad to see him still out in the world ticking, kicking and creating. DOn't doubt your past art, brother. Savior Machine is a truly unique, inspired, beautiful and it moved my soul deeply from 1994- 2005 or so.

For years Legion was the only song I knew by Savior Machine. I had it on a sampler. I"m finally getting to listen to the albums. Great stuff

More grounded into Mortification,Living Sacrifice, Deliverance,Bride, but the theatrical goth style and lyrical content of Savior Machine's songs were/are captivating. Eric's vocal style is unique and definitely stood out then and sounds like he still maintains his range even at the current age.

18 years ago in Tucson, AZ I was on a peer to peer sharing site called audiogalaxy. I had eradicated myself but simply was not going for that "all chords in G" overt bluegrass gospel. I've found your music to be an anchor of the past 18 years.

I still bump Saviour Machine on a regular basis. Well before I was anything resembling a Christian, (actually discovered it by an atheist video bashing Christians) and especially now that I can appreciate it from an insider perspective. Don't stop doing what you're doing, Eric. I love your music, your flamboyancy, all of it. God bless you for the difference you've made in my life alone, much less many others. Edit: I heard by the time of your last album that you had some sort of throat cancer. Maybe it's just a rumor, but I hope you're ok and wish and pray you well. Edit: Literally just watched this after listening to the Legion song.

I find it absolutely mind boggling that SM's albums have so few plays in Spotify. Seriously, the first two albums are some of the best pieces of music that have ever been released in the history of music, they are better than 99.999% of all metal/gothic that is out there. Then Legend I to III are masterpieces of epic proportions, each an album to be experienced rather than just listen to. I am not sure why SM are not more popular but they're definitely in MY top 10 after listening to all types of metal/rock in the past several decades. Those who have no idea how unbelievably awesome Eric is and perhaps don't particularly like SM, just watch The Theater Equation.

Where did this bloke get the idea that the Eastern Orthodox Church rejects the Book of Revelation as Scripture? This is utter nonsense! The cannon of Scripture was well established long before the East/West split, and much longer before "the reformation." What both Orthodoxy and Catholicism reject is the dispensational view of that book. Something that was also unheard of among Protestants until John Nelson Darby came on the scene.

I have a lot to say about Eric.... About SM.... About the word of God, his life, righteousness, his family, truth, etc etc... I am VIOLENTLY disgusted. So sick to my stomach. I would even consider using my saving to meet for coffee with Eric and touch base.... I wont let it go.
