Savory Oatmeal is a delicious spin on traditional oats that are made with sweet flavors. Enjoy this one for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! PRINT THE RECIPE HERE: cleananddelicious.com/savory-breakfast-oatmeal-with-boiled-egg-and-turkey-bacon/
This was heavenly! I added some Monterey Jack to mine and skipped the egg whites. But kept everyone else the same. I was delightfully pleased at how wonderful this is! I make a lot of your dishes and I really enjoy them. Thank you!
Just came across your UT channel and your savory oats. I LOVE savory oats. I add one scrambled egg + egg whites, add cooked chicken sausage, frozen spinach, Mexican melting cheese, salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder to hot cooked steel cut oats. So, so good *NOTE…a trick I learned from someone on IG…I buy a big tub of baby spinach. When I get home from the store, I add 1/2 of the tub to a freezer bag and freeze. It freezes beautifully and is easy to chop and add to soups, stews and especially savory oats!! 😋
love this idea!! I have made a savory oatmeal too, I stewed some zucchini in a tomato sauce with a little red pepper flake onion, garlic salt and pepper then I make the oats with water a pinch of salt pepper and parmesan chees I put the oats in a bowl and top it with the zucchini and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese!!!! It is so delicious and satisfying! Give it a try :)
I love savoury oats! I like to top mine with a poached egg and some feta. I usually add the egg whites with the water and stock - no scrambled egg whites! 🙂
Very nice Dani! I never thought of adding egg whites like that to fortify it with extra protein. It is easy to make. I am learning these creative ways from you.
this was an amazing breakfast idea! i made mine with 3 seed quick oats from thrive. mixed in tamari. topped with sauteed mushroom celery carrot and shallots. and a perfect hard boiled egg. thank you! will be trying other combos soon.❤😊
Hi Dani! I have been a fan of your channel and have made many of your delicious meals over the years. I just purchased your book and am excited to have it as an everyday reference. I am a big foodie and love tasty but healthy meals. I just tried your savoury oatmeal and I loved it. It kept me full into the early afternoon. Thank you!
Amazing!. I just made it to my husband and he loved it!!! (Except that I made it with evaporated milk, butter, salt and a pinch of baking soda) Thank you for this great ideas!
Thanks for the recipe! :) I added some dried tomatoes while cooking the oats and topped it with some cherry tomatoes and crispy tofu instead of turkey to make it vegetarian! For the tofu I tossed it in some flour, Italian seasoning, garlic powder and salt/pepper and fried in a little high-temp olive oil. I can see myself eating this for most lunches since you can customize it with anything from your fridge.
My husband makes THE BEST vegetarian BURGERS, Italian sausage, meatloaf, Shepherd’s pie and more using savory oats! I’m so thankful you gave vegetarian and soy-free options for we who eat differently than most! ❤️
So good!! I finally made savory oatmeal for breakfast, w/Chicken broth, added Turkey Canadian Bacon, egg, green onion , very small amount of Parmesan cheese shaved, and pepper. It was so good. Need to get old fashioned oats, I only had quick oats on hand, would like to try adding the eggs whites next time.
I use one serving of 100% whole oats with less than 2 cups of water. 1 or 2 raw eggs stired in. Put a saucer on top of a soup or cereal bowl. Microwave under 3 minutes. A meal in one dish. Fast food! You can add other thing in your bowl before you cook it covered. ❤
Looks great! I’ve added savory toppings but never thought to make oatmeal with broth and soy sauce! I will definitely try this ( looks like a yummy lunch or dinner as well)
I'm going to college to be a dietitian, when it comes to protein intake for your age you only need 0.8-1 gram per kg of body weight (your weight in lbs divided by 2.2) unless you are weight training then it is 1.2-1.5grams per kg of body weight.😊 That information is based on scientific research studies 😊
@@CleanandDeliciousDani that's amazing! 😁 that kind of exercise can really help stave off osteoporosis by 15 years, I learned that in Anatomy and Physiologically. More power to you then 💪 that takes a lot of motivation and stamina. 😊
That's literally a minimum to keep the nitrogen balance positive , so you don't die. It's way too low of a recommendation for most people, especially older or on a vegan diet. There was a study released just couple weeks ago where they had young vegans on those recommendations, the meals were provided and balanced. It turned out that every single one of the participants was actually in a negative nitrogen balance, a severe one that would result in a massive lean tissue loss over longer period of time
@@peejayfromhell okay, the information I got was from a textbook approved by a Dietitian with a PhD level of education, my dietitian professor. But if you are sharing new updated information. I found the study you were referring to, it said that vegan protein intake of 0.8 g per kg of body weight wasn't enough for the nitrogen equilibrium. But it didn't actually state how much protein was sufficient as far as I saw . I think that because a lot of plant based proteins are not complete proteins ie don't have all essential amino acids in them. I believe there would affect the results of the study unless the vegan ate some grains or pseudo grains with those plant based proteins. There's a lot of factors. Notice how I said for her age. I know that elderly individuals in recent studies show that they need more protein intake, because their bodies are more prone to damage.
As a middle aged woman in my mid-40s (we work against the lean muscle loss that comes with aging), I'm also trying to build muscle and aim for 1.6 gms/kilo of body weight. Dr. Peter Attia, Layne Norton Ph.D. and Don Layman Ph.D have been fantastic, knowledgeable resources who know ALL the studies. I wish you well in your future career as a dietitian. Wonderful field!
I have never seen oatmeal made this way before! I am very curious to give this a try. For people who don't eat meat, there is a great vegan food blog called Shane & Simple, and he has this delicious recipe for vegan bacon bits made out of TVP. I'm not a vegetarian, but I eat a lot of meatless meals, and I love experimenting. Those would be great on top of this.
Looks really yummy!😋 I will definitely try that for a Sunday brunch/ lunch. Thanks Dani! 💜 Have signed up again. Have been signed up for years but don't seem to have been receiving any emails since autumn.
Hahahahaha! Us Asians have been eating savoury porridge (oats or rice porridge) for millennia. And you'll have only just found it out!! 😂 We migrate to westernised countries, convert to western habits of sweet stuff in the morning to "fit in" and get diabetes 🙈 Then we convert back to our traditional food, but sometimes it's too late. And sometimes it isn't.
🤢 my god I bet every Scottish person who’s watching this is pulling their hair out now how dare you turn something simple but yummy made with milk and cream with some honey drizzled over into lunch.
