Saw Review 

I'll never forget seeing this in the theater opening weekend. Theater was packed, and everyone thought they knew what was going on. When John got up off the floor, the entire place popped like crazy with a collective "Holy shit!" Still one my favorite movie going experiences.

I think the best part is how almost literally everyone in this movie was working for Jigsaw all along!

how many people were waiting for Carey Elwes to say... " OOHHHHH WATCH YOURSELF ITS THE SAW, OOOHHHH THE SAWS COMING AT YOU, YOUR SCARED OF THE SAW, YOUR SCARED OF THE SAW,...OOOHHHHH"

Still has one of the best endings ever. Everybody in the theater was shook at the end. We didn't see it coming.

This series made my summer in all honesty and it doesn't feel like it's been almost a year since these videos came out.

The first was something special, definitely wore out edges on seats everywhere. Selling it out or not, but the concept alone just demanded sequels. And even the worst of those had scenes and twists that kept me entertained. Brrring on the summer of Sawww!

Even though the rest of the franchise ended up being more about the gore and less about the story, the first Saw still holds up as one of the greatest modern horror movies IMO.

I never saw these films until the midnight premiere of Saw 3. My friend took me to a Saw 1 - 3 marathon. All three films in one night. It was the best worst day of my life.

the twist in this movie actually got me. it remains one of the few that actually really surprised me.

Oh HELL YEAH!! Proud to say I was one of the many who requested this. I love this series. A couple years back I scouted around and bought/watched them all over the course of a week or so. At night, on my laptop. Kind of a guilty pleasure. The first 2 movies are really the only ones I would consider to be "essential". SAW III fucked things up by introducing the bane of the series: the main characters going from room to room to witness the traps performed on throwaway victims, DRASTICALLY reducing the investment of it all. Don't get me wrong, I love me some gore porn. Some of the traps/games are so over-the-top gratuitous that I found myself laughing in disbelief at what I was seeing happen to a person. But part of the fun of the first 2 movies is seeing how strangers react to being thrown together into a survival situation. Also does John Kramer/Jigsaw remind anyone else of Walter White/Heisenberg? Genius gets cancer, finds renewed purpose when faced with mortality, devotes life to greater purpose and becomes notorious wanted criminal mastermind?

It's so awesome that movies back then didnt really need money just imagination and determination

This is the only horror franchise where I've genuinely enjoyed every installment. Not all are particularly good but all are entertaining and somewhat connect well

Still remember the first time my mother showed me and my friend this movie. We hadn't seen it yet and we hadn't seen any reviews or spoilers. Honestly, neither of us were that interested in it. Once the movie started, she asked us to figure out who the killer was. We both said together "The Dead Guy". We're long-time D&D players.

Every once in a while, I rewatch all of the 'Summer Of Saw' videos. Just having it on in the background at this point while I read or play games. It's a great way to wind down after a long day.

One of my favorite behind the scenes trivia about this movie (and I think it applies to most of the sequels up to 3d..) not only did the story take place in mostly one room but the entire movie was shot in one building.. The garage, tapps apparmtent, Lawrences apartment, the bathroom, the police department was all shot in the same building..

i remember renting this as a kid. really vividly. we rented movies and picked up pizzas at the blockbuster, but the parents didn't watch their movies because my lil sister had just been born. so i decided to commandeer the living room, and i was blown away by the ending. still remember that vividly and have a soft spot for this one.

watching the first saw for the first time was pretty cool. as much as i didnt care for all the others its still cool we were still trying to make long running horror franchises. id love to see a new killer go to hell, space and other wacky places in some crazy off the wall sequels

6:53 Some of Jigsaw's reasons for testing people are really petty. "You called in sick when there was nothing wrong with you so you have to carry a candle to find the combination to the safe where the antidote to your poison is or else the candle will burn you to death."

The premise is good. Killer only abducts people he thinks have done wrong to see if they will continue in their folly or if they will choose to change and be a better person. The fact that he kills all his participants regardless is shite.

Ah, so a summer of Saw. Fine, let's get this over with.

Recently came back to this movie after not seeing it since '05 and I was gripped the whole time. Truly a classic. I especially love the initial shot of Kramers "corpse" as it reminds me of certain scenes from Max Payne.

Cary Elwis was only paid $3.5k upfront for his role and claims he was only paid 70k on his point on the backend. In contrast Danny Glover took 2% backend points and received 2% of the $159 million box office. Cary Elwis had to sue to get what he was owed. Both writer/directors only took backend points both were broke after filming wrapped and both became over night millionaires after saws opening weekend

Sweet. You're back to horror this summer! I was never a fan of these until the last year or so. I bought the whole series recently for really cheap and they're all pretty good until the last two. The believability is stretched thinner and thinner with each movie though until it just snaps. Jigsaw has to be God at some point to have such a solid plan completely dependent on predicting everyone's decisions working years after his own death.

Something that makes the ending even worse is that Adam is stuck there anyway. Jigsaw says the key is in the tub, but when Adam woke up, the key was flushed down the drain.

1 thing I didn't like about this film is how the photographer got screwed. They tie the plug around his foot so he lost the key (That screwed both of em) They give them both saws, But then they give Gordon ANOTHER chance to escape by killing the other guy. Where was his 3rd option lol

Met Shawnee Smith at Texas Frightmare Weekend a few years ago. She was cool. Got her autograph and chatted a bit. She said her favorite thing to work on was Becker. Personally, I love her as Amanda.

Saw is a good movie. Great plot and awesome twists and turns.

@3:05 we can see the juxtaposition through the cinematography through out the movie,.. Adam is shot on a hand held rig, Lawrence is shot on a steady cam. once you're told this you can't help but see it :D

Dude hellraiser has some crazy movies that have nothing to do with the hellraiser franchise, but at least pinhead is somewhat of a constant. But the saw franchise is just drama with a taste of human dissection... kudos to you my friend for doing this to yourself. Texas chainsaw might have been an easier scapegoat for "the roots" of torture porn but I'm glad for two things. One, you didn't get banned instantly, and two that we finally get the summer special you've been planninv. I sincerely hope you're doing better after your surgery and that just because you're channel blew up from the summer of fvj and Halloween that you don't feel trapped doing only horrow because trust me.... I'd love to hear your input on so much more. However as I'm one of the rare ones that follow you, and all your playlists many people were apparently looking into horror in '17 '18 as thats how I found your channel. So don't feel obligated to just do horror because you're hilarious and I generally find you're commentary about a subject great and very informative. Anyways you're the best man and I hope this summer really grows your channel 🖤

Decker, I do respect you, you are honestly one of my favorite RU-vidrs, however because of school, work, and various projects, I haven't been able to keep up with your videos lately, so I am admittedly just now seeing this. I do think I should address this though. While I haven't dealt with addiction personally, as a person who has four blood family members, that I know of, who struggle with substance abuse, including my older brother, I do know a good bit about how addicts work and what will not or is not likely to work on the road to recovery. My brother has been in God knows how many recovery programs. What I do know about addicts, is that unless they want to change, they will not change. I don't know if anything could honestly force an addict to change. I'm not even entirely sure I believe this would force a person with a drug problem to change. A lot of them are strong willed, and will refuse to get help, and a lot of the time, even if they do seem to be getting better, they are still using oftentimes, and do often relapse. So, honestly, I don't think she would have sought out a 12 step program herself, and even if she did, it's debatable whether or not it would have worked. I would say it probably wouldn't, not without commitment and actually wanting to get sober at least. I'm sorry, I know I may be taking this a bit too personally, and maybe I do sound like a whiny SJW (believe me, I'm not, I do my research and keep informed), however, I guess when you have experience with something, and then you hear a comment or a joke about it, you generally don't find it all that funny or entertaining. Overall though, outside of that, great video, and I really do enjoy your work quite a lot.

You know this movie really does show that from the beginning John was a god complex having hypocrite. What did Gordon’s daughter do? She’s innocent yet he was ready for her to be sacrificed.

I think Decker‘s next series he should review is either the Wrong Turn franchise or the Joyride franchise. I think his commentary and comedic timing would be pretty interesting for either series.

Perfect the power just went out at work and here is Decker to bring me glorious entertainment.
