I loved it until Hoffman. He was over done and I hated him the whole time. Took way to long for him to die. I loved Amanda and would have liked to see more from her but both her and Hoffman were terrible interns 😂 jigsaw himself was great but he hired some people far from his mindset and that seemed too dumb for his character

I enjoyed the series, but John Kramer's traps were simple, rustic and terrifying, the story-line up to 3 was solid .. after 3 the traps became more theatrical, shiny and complicated, it also felt like they were writing the story as they went along... it completely lost that grungy horror feel

It actually made sense how the series "derailed". It's what happens with everything. For example Rigg. Being a good cop and wanting to save as many as possible is honorable, but it's in fact humanly not possible. At some point you'll end up seeing yourself literally waking above corpses to save someone. That's why imo is why Rigg's story seems comparable to John's. John's intentions weren't that bad either. Showing actual criminals what they're missing out and what they've done. But as with the superhero, at some point John started to go overboard and blackmailed simple men who literally weren't able to do anything (the insurance guy who just ahere able to work at the range his company allowed to, and in the end got killed by the son of another patient he couldn't help). Not only every single chapter for itself teaches a lesson, but also the entire franchise (1-7) itself and I am honestly shocked people don't get it.

@Gold Rose I really like the saw franchise, but I really hope there's no actual people that consider Jigsaw to be some anti hero. Just because he doesn't have the same motives to kill as most serial killer's does not mean he is actually a good person.

I think they canilk it out because its still original in its scene, at least the Saw villain has some kind of humanity, and there's some story to it. Pretty much every horror I know is just milking the concept of a group of friends/peers/ a family horribly dieing over the course of 90 minutes of film. And yes I agree that the Saw story does not make sense alot of the time, people making the dumbest choices, garbage quality law enforcement, jigsaw and his diciples being able to kidnap tons of related people in a couple of hours. Etc.

@Gold Rose I enjoyed the series, but I will agree it started to go downhill after 3 - the point of Jigsaw was he made simple, rustic and terrifying traps backed by plot twists and a fairly stable story-line.. after 3 the traps became more complicated, shiny and elaborate and it felt like they were just making the story up as they went along Saw isn't a bad series though, if you want to see what a real garbage film looks like check out cabin fever, the perfection or martyrs (2008)... oh and can't forget swiss army man with daniel radcliffe, so glad I only watch a review for that P.O.S movie.. it looks horrible

They took out the scene where they reveal their face so it’s not canon like the games.

I think that was the main reason for the original test with the reverse bear trap, but since she passed the test and seemingly improved herself, he initially forgave her, which acts as a foil for jeff.

@@xigua2725 but Hoffman mentioned that he’d reveal that secret to John if Amanda didn’t kill Lynn. Why would she have done it if John already knew? I think her original test stemmed from the fact that she was a self-harming drug addict who didn’t value her life.

Few of these deaths were “necessary”, but I agree with you. A cop trying to save everyone isn’t a bad thing (especially when going up against a SERIAL KILLER). It just means he truly cares about his job, and protecting people. And yeah, he was a bit dumb for not getting what Jigsaw was trying to tell him & playing along, but Jigsaw is a murderous killer (yes, he’s a killer, don’t at me) so how was Riggs supposed to trust anything he says?

Like how Kramer says "If you're good at anticipating the human mind, you leave nothing to chance." Hoffman knew that if he got Rigg to see Matthews still alive, Rigg would definitely have tried and save him. This was Hoffman's way of getting rid of him cuz of his anticipation of Rigg's nature. I also believe that if he ended up passing his test, he would have been joining the saw team. Maybe not, who knows? This is just the way producers wanted the story to go. In the end he didn't get the hint to let go, so yeah you know the rest lol.

It is absurd. But I just watched 3-8. The last month. I was just like aww cmon! It’ was so absurd But I enjoy a lot of cheesy or shitty horror movies. And saw was absolutely hilarious that people paid money at the theatres to keep this series going.

Which is why he tested each of his apprentices and they all seemingly died because they failed it.
