Exactly. These better not be the same ppl complaining about the state of hip hop right now..they going so hard defending mediocrity like this. Hell mediocrity is putting it nicely. She can’t rap AT ALL
He was hating before she even spit. Let her have a go of it then make up your mind. But he was tryna dismiss her before she even did it. She was better than he expected
He as an opinion and agenda before most aerists even perform. He hates on almost every rapper. By the sweetie is blowing up now but he did alot of damage to her reputation after this interview! Don't come with your naive comments.
Idk if she was referring to this....... she possibly meant the aftermath on various social media sites due to this. Alotta people spew hate for no reason at all.
Same. I never saw this interview before, so I had to come see what she was talking about 👀. They really tried it, but look at her now, she raps better and is putting out better music.
@@guyprieto1593 Hmmmmm......I think, maybe, that you're kinda missing the/her point. From what I read her PTSD is not from what was said to her on the show. But the negative energies directed at her, via cyber-bullying, because of what was said to her on the show.
Yall obviously dont listen to hot97... artist come there to rap on a mic in front of them. Artists ask to go there to do this. She asked to go there to do this...
@@RyanJMills-lf3et Erbo aint said nothin wrong. She sounded made up when she was explaining about studying rap. Thats not PTSD, lol, that's constructive criticism hitting home and I bet she sounds way better now. Thats how things work lol people crying about that.
She's new and still improving. There are so many dudes in the industry that are fucking terrible and rap like they've got their own dick in their hand, and nobody says a thing about them, but as soon as a new girl comes along everybodies got something to say. 🙄
Jabari Grant Dude get tf outta here with that crybaby bs. "Ebro was too mean to her, why was he so mean", yall sound ridiculous. Shorty is wack and that's ok.
@@samuelsanchez4020 it’s implied unintentionally that men are suppose to nice to women which is what he was doing and stating respectful. If she need a clinic she got just real lessons. Her slur that she has and her style kinda make it sound super west. Nothing he said was wrong and she can learn game and be better
@@kristopherleslie8343 again, I agree that her rapping can improve, but that doesn't mean that what he said was sexist. The fact that in this instance the sexism means "being kind to women" doesn't mean it isn't sexist. You should be kind to anyone, regardless of their gender identity.
@@kristopherleslie8343 no, it is expected that men be kinder to women. It’s not a choice. They are plenty of news shows that use women yelling to men and men yelling to women and no one came to a man’s aid but plenty came to a woman’s side.
Diction & clarity? I can't even understand what most these mush-mouth mumble rappers are saying. At least I understood her LoL. She seems determined, so good on her. Hope she achieves her dreams.
She's obviously got to step it up in alot of areas. It may be "trash" but if others are getting paid for the trash they're putting out & getting record deals & getting paid, then why not her?
If she wants to be a “rapper rapper”like with actual bars yea diction n clarity but if she want to mumble rap then ok keep doing what your doing but she seems pretty serious so she should just sharpen her skills that’s all a little work.
@@gabrielaekwujuru53 Obviously you do so how much broker than me are you? Her raps are straight ass bro cry all day if you want to money cant buy talent 😂😂😂😂😂
@@gabrielaekwujuru53 You dropped 7 comments on this channel alone defending this talentless creature like she’s gonna be your friend or something ITS NOT GONNA HAPPEN. #Goofy🤡 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The only professional person in this room was Saweetie..she maintained her cool and did her thing. Keep it real girl 🙌 #girlpower they did her best to pull her down
No amount of connections can save you if you are talentless. She is Cousins with: Gabrielle Union, MC Hammer, Zaytoven. Grand daughter of Willie Harper= super bowel winner. Dated: Quavo, Diddy's son Justin, Keith Powers & hinted at Michael B Jordan. She is managed by Lou Burrell. Nearly every song is a sample & collaboration with established artists. ( It's not easy to clear samples or get collabs that easily) It's not hating it's just knowing that Plenty of ordinary ppl on RU-vid can do better then this trash yet are deprived of the chance because they don't have the connections. It's a con.
I been trynna tell people this but it’s always ‘sToP hAtInG’ 😂she’s a plant and her team sucks they know they only got an image that sells and nothing else. No substance, no creativity. Ohhh and also her mom was one of Peter Nygard’s girls👀
But thats what the instrustries all about, having connections/networking and creating a name and signature style for yourself. It may suck for a lot of up and coming artists but its just reality and its something you have to get on board with if you want your work to start getting popularized.
@@Amanda-hq5yj He has been critiquing rappers for over 20 yrs. he took it easy on her. A bunch of people calling her trash during the aftermath has nothing to do with him. Basic does not equal trash but if she were a man it was trash.
She is tripping about getting PTSD....They carried her ass the whole interview and gave her props for that average (at best) verse she spit... She should just admit she was nervous and scared during the interview and not throw the interviewers under the bus...
While it was bad, most people go to radio stations with writtens so if she was truly freestyling it was better than a lot of verses I’ve heard on tv including a Wayne freestyle.
Exactly, and I could actually understand what she was saying. He acts as if she should sound like a professor on the mic while he's sitting up there with horrible gramnar.
it was funny af watching this back and ppl in the comments defending her but would give iggy hell if she came with a wack ass freestyle that was 100% better than this
Saweetie has to learn not everyone is going to be as polite as J Cole. She was trash then. Trash now. More ppl should be put on the spot like this. You said you're a rapper rapper so RAP!
And don’t forget she’s a USC Graduate! Who was on her to Ivy League Masters Program... Honey she does not need rap and she’s doing it is because she wants to.
You know, she definitely needs to work on her skill but I commend her for actually trying to be a true rapper/lyricist. Half these female rappers be selling sex instead of records.
Mariah Thomas I'm aware. What's your point?. Never said male rappers aren't selling bs too. I'm talking about female rappers and I commend her on actually trying to better her craft
She kept it classy with them she’s definitely high on spirit!! They judging but do they expect her not to rap till she’s perfect? Girl chasing dreams no one starts perfect her she did amazing
Ok hold up Aide girl no rapper starts perfect? Haha look ya might wanna do some studying and researching cuz back in the days almost every rapper male or female started rapping and freestyling perfectly out no beat just acapella damn ya might check out all these old school rap legends (from the 80's 90's (golden age hip-hop era) and early 2000's) their first time rapping but by freestyling with nothing but straight up dope flaming bars and genius intelligent and brilliant lyricism and is not just the old school ones the new school ones some that already legends/some soon to be legends too like J. Cole Big K.R.I.T. Kendrick (who started as K. Dot), Joyner Lucas (who started first by the name Future Joyner) Nipsey, Joey Bada$$, Logic, Meek Mill, Wale and the list goes on I'm telling you check em out because i saw their freestyle videos before their mainstream popularity and fame So if i were u i'd say 97% of 80s and 90s rappers started rapping perfectly and 93% of 2000s rappers started rapping perfectly and 89.5% of 2010s rappers started rapping perfectly
I find it hilarious reading all these old comments of people saying she unbothered and handled it well only to find out years later she got PTSD from it 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@Ali F she's not as talented as she wants you to beleive ... I hate how females can be mediocre at things n be praised when in reality she's as good as a middle school boy , it happens a lot too especially in skating girls can get decent n go pro .. but guys have to be death defying and super technical to be noticed
@@1000dotsdeath Yeah you most definitely have that completely backwards lmfaoo, and wtf does skating have to do with anything. In the MUSIC industry, particularly rap, dudes can be complete garbage, carbon copies of one another but women are held to completely different standards.
@@pinkforeverlove1 cause she had a poppin song... so what better way to find out if she's a "one and done" artist than inviting her on the show and evaluating her talent up close?
@@nakiosan3364 bro she can’t rap also this is an eye opener........ This was no freestyle. she just recited something that she had posted a year befor on Instagram. But after her appearance on Hot97, she deleted that video.
They literally wouldn't let her live past that "pretty girl with a lot of followers" image, a damn shame. I think that literally dictated the way the male interviewers addressed her. Her freestyle delivery can be improved, definitely, but for someone new in the game trying to find her place, I thought it was dope. The criticism could've been way more constructive than judgmental.
She didn’t spit fire she didn’t deliever. Lackluster l. No flow. I mean what did y’all expect. Pretty girls always feel like men gonna fawn all over them cause they look good and she got a rude awakening. She seems like a cool chick but so what? This is about rap. She’s not memorable
man i have watched this multiple times and laughed SO HARD... thank you saweetie for that struggle performance.. the end really capped the whole thing off perfectly lol
Ebro could barely make eye contact with her for a minute. His feedback is fair because I think her lyrics were average too but I also think he doesn't know how to act around a young girl that carries herself like a boss so new in the game. She wasn't sweating under pressure at all and he was shook
Jasmine Ekusai I agree with your comment. She stood her ground and made sure Ebro understood she’s about this. My thing is why does it seem like they’re tryna break confidence 🤔
The irony is that her flow is super old school - she sounds like an early 90s boom-bap rapper. I thought that was what Ebro was about...? I like her, she seemed cool.
You can tell this is really her dream and she’s dedicated to it. You can tell she’s not one of those girls that woke up one day and decided to “rap” cause she knew that she was pretty and could get away with it. This freestyle wasn’t her best but she can rap.
norma creation I disagree. She said she’s been rapping since she was 14 and been doing poetry all her life. Just because she’s dated famous guys doesn’t mean she don’t have her own passions and dreams.
9:11 “you asked me to do it so I did it” IKDR SAWEETIE!! No one starts out perfect, but the drive will get you where you need to go. I loved her demeanor.
I feel like she can rap. Just because her freestyle wasn't the best doesn't mean she can't make good music.. I would also like to mention the fact that A LOT rappers can't freestyle, it's either you can or you can't. Everyone needs improvement, no matter what the case is.
Nope . Rappers need to know how to rap ..the bullshit excuses from 90s babies are hilarious" you can or cannot rap.." nope if you cannot rap. .GTFO out of the stage.
Yelly Samara it’s just most men say things and we don’t care how others take it so if you going to participate in the things that men do you have to be able to take our criticism he was really trying to protect shortys feelings he said it was basic but he knew it was wack
Sophia Garcia they were rude Not professional and you don’t gotta like everyone you interview however there is a way of not liking them without being rude
It was all the slick comments abt how they werent sure about her rapping for me. The whole interview was just questioning if she really raps when they booked her on the show as a rapper 🤦🏽♀️😂. They knew what they were doing
They tried to play her with their sarcasm and digs and that was messy, unprofessional, and basic. And I’m annoyed that Laura styles or whatever her name is didn’t stand up for her as a woman
The delivery is weak. Some eh lines. But she rapped nervous so that affected the delivery perhaps. Confidence would a took the verse up a another level
she's clearly not very confident, yet to master than...her foot bouncing was a give away and I think her rap delivery would of been much stronger is she was very confident
Idk y she had PTSD after this she handled it SO WELL. I love how she said “so be hard on me”, “I don’t feel like your hating” and “you told me to do it so I did it”. 💯🙌🏻
Right! I think exactly went over slot of people’s heads, she could be feeling one way but still act confident and keep her composure.. this actually common with a lot of women ..
There are sooooooo many terrible male rappers out there, that she’s actually better than. The fact that Ebro and the others were so critical even though these mumble rappers get a pass is actually sexist and shows the double standard in the industry.
She not getting judged to harshly, he gave her constructive criticism. What she supposed to get a vagina pass, or she’s cute pass. Truth is she was just on beat but the flow was mediocre. Period.
I won't lie. I actually liked the freestyle. I feel like she has a lot of passion. She just needs to work on her lyrics and delivery. I'm glad she didn't take the criticism personally. I think she's going to grow and improve. Having a thick skin is already great start. Most people don't have it.
