It has some elements of traditional Filipino styles, but in practice it's very much like Lethwei or Muay Thai with a greater focus on kicking variation instead of low and body roundkicks, generally they like to say Yaw Yan is a longer ranged fighting style, like taekwondo, whereas Muay Thai heavily prefers the clinch, but this is down to the practioner. In regards to how it performs in kickboxing matches, it isn't that different to any style really, there are optimal ways to fight and competitive fighters are always going to approach that optimum from different angles.
Justinian S very similar to the above mentioned discipline. Yaw Yan is a fairly new art in the community. It was created by our late SGM Nap Fernandez in the 70s.
Thank you sir. One of the best Yaw Yan fighters to ever come from the home land. Highly recommend to train at the Yaw Yan Ardigma if you're in the Sacramento Area.
California Combatives Club 209 i bet it was alot of fun?haha. Yea i'd love to swing by again in the future. Jordan is one of the best Yaw Yan fighter trained by GM Nap himself. Very knowledgeable person.
@@johnrextabliga875 oh boy how wrong you are there is different types of yaw Yan just like hybrid style ,sporting and street fighting there is grappling that take inspiration from dumog(Filipino wrestling style or jiu jitsu). Here for example hybrid yaw yan fighter knockout Muay Thai champion:ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WpEIy4JKF8o.html just like napoleon Fernando(founder of yawyan ) said yaw Yan is about aggressive precise striking and combo.
