i am a taekwondoist since im 7 yrs old.But im proud of our own martial arts.yawyan is good not only to young one but also to old ones because of their practical movements.if i love taekwondo i love more yawyan because its our own MA.good luck and more power.
the best martial art belongs to no style, creed, sect, clan, tribe, country, whatever. it's the skill of the individual. if you are a true martial artist, not a person who trains 'mma', you will understand the aforementioned statement. educate yourselves. please.
Branding is kinda dangerous ive noticed the heated metal has rust..hazing is not necessary y u mke this as a fraternity? This is not a religion thats y baptism is not needed...experiencing pain is better in makiwara training rather than burning the persons skin...tsk tsk
Terrence Brown we have a similar style called sikaran arnis it’s almost like tae kwon do but different thing is we kick with the balls of our feet rather then the face of the foot and we also do roundhouse rather then a turning kick
Terrence Brown we move more than Muay Thai but unfortunately some gyms dont really teach the proper movement . Dont be fooled by gyms like Hybrid Yaw yan , yaw yan buhawi and soms others with there absence in foot work ( For christ sake they also dont even know how to throw a decent boxing combo which is absolutely frustrating and embarrassing as a yaw yan guy to see) .Real and old school yaw yan is standing style is shootboxing and sanda . The real kicks are also a bit jeet kune doish. Hope this helps.
Go Yaw-Yan! I love how the creed was recited and subtitled at the beginning of the video. It's a reminder of the essence of the art as imparted by it's founder.
it never happen! ! ! If you a real filipino you will stick to your own Martial art... try first yaw yan and muay thai before you say that, you will know what is best! ! ! STILL YAW YAN
Any branding in any culture or society or group, etc... is not a joke sir, and this gives our bond, our brotherhood a very deep meaning which you will never understand sir.
people say yaw yan is the best but there's a lot saying karate is the best, tae kwon do, muay thai. come to think of it its the person using the art is what makes the art best,, but seriously branding are you joking me?
Arnis + Digmaan? - Familiar moves just removing the art of using STICKS and KNIVES am I right? MEANS YawYan is another Permutation of KALI? - Correct me if I'm wrong
libre nmn sumali jan...kaya lang pag na marunong kana d na dapat ipag yabang sa iba..dapat secreto mo na un..may naka inuman kc ako kailan lang nmn natuto nag yabang na. try nyo din arnis at wing chun.
This is the only Martial Arts with hazing... What if I want to join but I don't want to ruin my body with your seal/mark? Or I just don't want to undergo the hazing part? Is it ok? Im just looking for a sense of belongingness and secondary family..
totally agree, muay thai is different than yawyan though there are similar moves. and arguing which martial arts is pretty much pointless, who's better is the person who understand it more.
you can join yaw yan anytime dude, dont worry about the branding its voluntary by the time you want to be an official member of yaw yan thats the time youl get a brand.. you can be a practitioner..
you are wrong there is no arnis in muay thai there are no bolo punches or palo in muay thai and the punches are different I have seen fights where yaw yan beats muay thai and muay thai beats yaw yan its not in the style it is in the person.....
Jerico Cabrera Asadon pag makita mo movement mas malapit to sa Sanda to . Stop comparing it to Muay Thai , real Yaw Yan looks like Sanda at times or Savate or Shootboxing.
@@gelibean7533 well Ang yaw Yan Kasi ay breed pre... pero may halo itong Muay Thai especially sa power of kick i-search mo nalang Kasi c Napoleon Fernandez na nagsabi na may halong Muay Thai Yan at kickboxing at karate
Benedict Calicdan yeah, thats why its called a "hybrid" art. The founder/master learned other discipline before he created in Martial Arts from 1972. :)
@@morolahingtae6068 nope it's inspired by Muay Thai and karate cuz Muay Thai is all about the strikes(power and speed) kick boxing adapted the art of Muay Thai especially the kick cuz Muay Thai destroyed kick boxing that change the history of kickboxing just watch it on RU-vid how Muay Thai fighter destroyed kick boxing
As a former resident of Project 4 Quezon city I know that there is indeed a dietary discipline. It's called the Filipino ghetto diet, you only can only eat a bowl of rice and some salted beans when you've scraped up enough money from your meager job at a carinderia cause life's so damn hard.
BlackEagletheAwesome Haha so true I can imagine all the good source of protein and nutrition would be kept only for the fat oligarch families that run the country, pagpag for the rest.
Theex pendable idk if you can consider Kuntao as originally filipino. My friend told me about "suntukan" and "sikaran" but I don't know if you can consider those as unique martial arts (I've never studied them or seen them in action so I don't know). But a quick google search showed me Kinamotay, it seems like really dirty fighting but there you go.
+Theex pendable eskrima or escrima the original Filipino Martial Arts, a combination of all empty hand and also with weapon (sword, knife and arnis). But you can also learn in separate ways: Arnis-focus on stick (various kind) Kali-focus on sword and knife (various kind). But we have different Filipino Martial Arts (Eskrima, Kali, Arnis, Yaw-yan) Yaw-yan (Sayaw ng Kamatayan or Dance of Death starts in 1970 by Napoleon Fernandez or "Master Nap") Fernandez had a background in various martial arts such as Jeet Kune Do, Karate, Eskrima, Aikido, and Judo. He is said to have modified all the martial art forms that he studied and fused them to create a martial art form that is deadly to opponents and "advantageous to the build of Filipinos". Yaw Yan was introduced to the public in 1972. It includes elements of striking, takedowns, grappling, stick and knife fighting, and additional kickboxing material. It reflected the growing popularity of Kickboxing during the 1970s to 1980s, and from the 1990s to the Mixed martial arts in the Philippines as well as worldwide.
