The sax solo in Jungleland never fails to send a shiver down my spine and make my eyes well up. The Big Man is immortalized through his brilliant music.
Clemons said that the Jungleland solo took a lot out of him. He states that Springsteen really beat it out of him. It was epic and if you notice it's really a series of smaller solos cropped togheter rather than one long solo.
every year since his passing ...I look at this remembrance and think back to a time when I first saw them live...over 30 years ago.. the greatest gift he and Bruce have given us is their music,,,it shall never die..
"Everything changed, when the Big Man joined the band". Proof that this wasn't written by some hack, but by someone who actually knew and felt the loss of Clarence. Great tribute.
Watched it again today! I know, that big man CC is smiling in heaven when he sees and hears his nephew play his sax while being on stage with his blood brother Bruce. I know that he's very proud and happy for Bruce and the E street band, his brothers in music, his friends. We still miss this great saxplayer, 'our' big man CC.
My Dad was a huge fan of Bruce and Clarence. The Big Man died about a month before my dad did. I like to imagine them in the afterlife, the conversations they might be having. R.I.P. to two great men.
He was the big man. So many iconic saxophone pieces. All we can do is revel in the music he created and enjoy! Rock on Big Man RIP you will NEVER be forgotten,
I just watched this again and I am weeping again. Clarence's ashes were spread over Hawaii, the place he loved the most. We love you so much and will never ever forget you, Big Man.
Coming from Jersey 44 yrs my life seeing Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band live 13 times the sounds of The Big Man's saxophone still rings my ears out of no where it just comes in and fades away R. I. P.. Clarence Clemons to take you away only means the bigger man upstairs needed you more God knows I would to hear that show but I can wait for now Love always, Jersey Boy

Clarence Clemon R.I.P the first time you belted Jungle Land live for my first out of thirteen times I seen Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band was one of my best memories !!!! It still brings a chill , goose bumps and A TEAR DOWN MY FACE The last time I seen a show live was closing night at Shea Stadium the band came out for Another song ... I was in the last row dead center nose bleed section ...Bruce asked after he chuckled & asked " what song do you guys what to hear " and I screamed with everything I had for my favorite song Johnny 99 ...Bruce pointed up to where he heard voice coming from walked to his guitar case took his herminica out , strapped it on and said I heard you up there and played Johnny 99 ps my hand still hurts from about 50 or so Springsteen fans high fiving me that could not believe Bruce heard me.... Mr. Springsteen.......... ( Bruce ) also saw you and family In a restaurant on water in your home town ( not going to metion either) it took everything in my power honestly not to bother you & family during your alone time with family EVEN WHEN YOU ARE MY FAVORITE ARTIST AND Know EVERY WORD TO ALL YOUR SONGS... May YOU keep rocking forever ... next time the Band and You make it to Miami please give me a heads up as a blue - collared worker it would be a hard choice to eat that month or buy two tickets, parking and a tee-shirt ..lol Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to You & Band ... From one of your Biggest fan's , Len Hohmann aka Jersey Boy
Hello Big man you are always in my hart. I listen always Bruce and you are always there with me when I hear you playing happy with your saxophone. God bless you Big man. 🎸🎹🎷🎷 James Belgium.
Always loved the 'Big Man'! Clarence you will always be missed! Your presence, your passion for the music, your energy, hearing you play and seeing you in person! I am gonna miss you Big Man!
Thank you Big Man I loved the sax and I loved listening to you play. Not many musicians can bring tears to my eyes but you always did with you fabulous sound. You will be missed by a great many people but possibly not as much as Bruce will miss you.You two were brothers up on that stage two became one. Rest in Peace big man and a very BIG THANK YOU.
Just thinking about being a kid in the back of my dad's old Chevy Cavalier wagon, listening to the sax solo in "Jungleland," seeing movies play out in my head. Rest easy, Big Man.
+Tony Jones You said it Tony. Clarence Clemons solo on Jungleland and Cadillac Ranch is simply unreal. I have been in bad moods several times before listening to Jungleland and Cadillac Ranch and by the time the song ended I had a big smile on my face. He will never be forgotten!!
I take my hat off to Mr. Williams for this incredibly beautiful piece on The Big Man. This world was so lucky to have known Clarence Clemons. I am 21 years old and I discovered the music of Bruce back in 2005-2006 when I was a sophomore in High School. I actually had the honor and the privilege of seeing the full E Street Band (including Danny) back in 2008 and again in 2009. I am heartbroken that I will never see Clarence on a stage again. We will NEVER forget him or the music he gave us.
I am 16 and I play tenor saxophone and Clarence was my number one idol, RIP Big Man, I may not have been around during your heyday but I can still look back and say he's the man! To a legend, Clarence!
Mr. Clemons you are the best saxophonist to walk the earth. You will forever be my hero and my inspiration to play tenor. Keep playing saxophone for all of Heaven to hear you
What a gift! He accented that band to a Tee!!! I remember watching videos late at night when I was young! I saw him for the 1st time & was blown away at his saxophone 🎷 play! “Dancing in the Dark!” A great saxophonist
Didn't know you passed, till now. God Bless YOU and Keep YOU...the best sax player to ever grace the stage, thanks for the memories and that incredible sound. RIP Big Man.
The Big Man simply can not be replaced Songs like Thunder Road and Jungleland will never be the same without him. I thank God for having hear him live in Houston 1978. He will be missed. I can only imagine what Heaven's band must sound like.
Thank you Mr. Williams and staff, what a wonderful tribute. I took up playing sax in school because of his heartfelt solos. St. Peter: "hey, it's the Big Man! Clarence Clemons on the sassyphone! Sound check is in five so get up here!" God bless and keep The Big Man.
RIP Clarence, I just found out that you are no longer with us. 06-19-2016. I am shedding tears as I listen to your greatness. I will always love you and your gift.
Born to Run is the anthem of my relationship with my girlfriend and future wife... that song has energy, but the soul of it came from Clarence’s sax riffs... as two children of the Garden State, we love and miss you ♥️
Exactly 2 years after the Big Man died, I went to see Bruce and the E St band in Glasgow. It was the first time I'd been to see them and I was completely moved by the atmosphere in the stadium as they made a tribute to Clarence, the place was overflowing with emotion! RIP Big Man
Clarence Clemons what a true & true saxophone legend, RIP big man gone but never ever will be forgotten from fans and friends here in ireland. your legendary sound & status lives on I'd say Jesus is overjoyed listening to you up above in heaven playing the saxophone again rip big man :-(
Happy birthday Big Man! When I die and lose my way to heaven all I have to do is listen for the bitchin' sax player they got up there already. Rest in peace.
While attending Maryland State College, Clarence also joined his first band, the Vibratones, which played James Brown covers and stayed together for about four years between 1961 and 1965. While still playing with this band, he moved to Somerset, New Jersey, where he worked as a Counselor for emotionally disturbed children at the Jamesburg Training School for Boys between 1962 and 1970. It takes a special kind of man to help care for emotionally disturbed children. Clarence supposedly met Bruce for the first time in September 1971.
Great tribute!! RIP Clarence. You played that sax better than anyone. Not to mention you moved to the beat of every song with smoothness and never lost a beat..
Why would someone dislike a video remembering someone, not just someone, a legend, no one should be disliking this, eveyone should just be remembering the legend. R.I.P.
Anyone's answer depends on whether you believe there is life beyond the physical or not. The interesting thing is, the truth of the situation lies in some larger circle beyond anyone's particular belief...
Saw Springsteen last week in Manchester. When they played 10th Ave Freezeout it was very special. RIP Big man...you're missed but your legacy continues with Jake
RIP big man... thinking about you today. thank you for being with me throughout the years, helping me cope on the dark days and smile and dance on the brighter ones
They shows us all that a white man and a black man could love each other. They both saw no color they were the greatest of friends and that's hard to find. RIP BIG MAN
Clarence I bought your first album with Bruce Springsteen and you were the first thing that I noticed on that album. Once I got to know the albums I was always waiting for the sax to cut in it was unbelievably good. Northern Canada
Just seeing this heartwarming news cast for the first time. Saw these amazing performers in 1976. I think my handprint still on Bruces leg! And then there was Clarence...simply unforgettable.
My stepmother lived in Long Branch and was at the grocery store and was short $. The individual behind her politely asked if he could help. Lo and behold it was Clarence and they were very good friends up until his death.
user name taken sometimes you just have to be you. I’m a car guy. While driving across the bridges in my area. I’ve had people pay my toll to thank me for keeping these old cars alive. I’ve repaid that as I can. I’ve been behind older people in stores who have to decide whether they eat this month or get their medications. I reach out and just pay their bill. It’s called caring. Nothing more. Nothing Less!!!!!
@user name taken I'm reading this on January 21, 2020. User, you obviously hide behind this name so no one knows who you are. I know by this post, the one and only time I've seen you User, that you are a man. Nice men and no women think like this, or share their ignorance on social media. I guess you might think your response to Collette Cosgrove a real person, posting a lovely memory of a wonderful musician and person, and her relative, needed a stupid, rude response. In your first sentence you denigrated ( big word, look it up), Clarence and the woman in line behind him. You destroyed Collette's memory of the occasion. And you tried to sully the reputation of Clarence Clemons. Of course he was gone when this was posted. Would you have added this shit if he was still alive? I'm thinking not, because even using your silly user name, I'm sure that some of his fans would have been so angered you might have been discovered. Are you racist? , a mysogynist? ( look it up), or just an asshole ( you know this one) with no filter, too much time on his hands who needs to see himself in print? Oh. I thought so - you are all 3! Collette says they were " very good friends up until his death". Did you read that far? Do you think everyone must 'pay' somehow for a favor they receive? You are "nasty and fucked up". Nice language on open social media, asshole.
Been listening to Clarence today. Six years ago today. Man, nobody could play more beautiful! NOBODY! FYI, he had the choice to play pro football or play music. Thanks Big Man for choosing music!
I shed a few tears when I heard this. As a kid in the early 70's my family spent summers in Asbury Park and I usta play on the Boardwalk around The Stone Pony. I didn't know who they were back then, but they usta chill and talk to us kids. This tribute brought tears again, but this time with a smile. LOVE YOU BRO and keep BLOWIN' as you REST IN PARADISE!!!!
I saw Clarence play with bruce on stage as many did,....and just as everyone did, the chills ran down my spine when Clarence cut down on that sax,....a religious experience !!!
At the concert last night in Buffalo I was so excited to see the show, and then when I started to look on stage I saw no big man, it was a sad and upsetting image. The third song he played was The Ties That Bind and clarence's nephew played the sax solo and I started to tear up remembering Clarence. Then when he played my city of ruins next, he said something about the big man and I just broke down in tears. I miss my idol. He will always be remembered.
just seen springsteen in dublin last week. it was great but not the same without the big man! me and all other springsteen fans will miss him forever and we will always love him
I remember bringing home a tenor saxophone from school when I started taking instrumental music in 1976 and the very first thing I wanted to learn how to play was Jungleland and other Clarence Clemons parts from my collection of Springsteen albums. Epic sound, great memories never to be forgotten. Sadly missed
Having spent a big part of my childhood living in Asbury Park, about once a year I go down the E Street Band rabbit hole. This is part of that. Still missing you, Big Man, all these years later.
