Help! I have a Mac and I’ve done this before, but since the Sonoma update, the poster button is grayed out.. don’t know how to enlarge this pattern now
Clothing is different because it can't be scaled in the same way as other patterns. This has to be graded which is a difficult skill. If you used this percentage scaling then it would not only make a pattern bigger one way, but in all directions. So to add 50% to the waist, you would also add 50% to the length and to the shoulders and the neckline etc. So best to contact a sewing pattern designer if you need help grading up a pattern to a different clothing size.
So you ONLY want to decrease the depth of the gusset? Then in that case you'll take your pattern piece and cut the gusset piece down through the middle lengthways. Fold or overlap the cut edge until its the width you want (don't forget to account for seam allowances) and then tape it back together again. Now the length is still the same and should fit the front and back of the bag, but the gusset is narrower. Hope that helps.
Is there a way to kind of gauge how how much bigger it will make the pattern? I have a customer who’s wants a certain size range, but I have no clue. Lol
