No plugin company in the industry has the amount of passion and love for the users to continue to develop and refine their plugin like these guys. Davide thank you so much and a huge thank you to the team!!
This plugin is a real diamond. Not only does it help me create more solid compositions, but it also opened my eyes to music theory concepts that I was afraid to touch. Since I started using it, I became eager to truly study music theory. Thank you!
Thanks Daniel, I'm not sure I'd call us a company (even though we are!), sounds very corporate! We are just a bunch of people the love making music and love making scaler!! Oh and love listening to other users 🙏
Yeah, thats why reason studios ended up better as a plugin inside another daw, they failed to achieve what users requested in the reason stand alone daw.
Scaler 2 has allowed me to be the keyboardist I'm not, and couldn't become without a lifetime of study. Mad props to the experts out there, but there are so many other aspects of music production I'd rather focus on! Now in this version I can be the session guitarist I'm not! I'm going to try writing my own guitar parts on my next Disco track. That's the one part in my productions that I've stuck to samples because I never could get it sounding natural trying to MIDI it on my own with plugin instruments -- always too synth-like. Seems like Scaler 2.5 might do the trick here!
I too thought like you, but to be honest, learning music theory is NOT difficult. Infact using Scaler 2 can help you learn it rather quickly. I learned that there is a limit to what Scaler 2 can deliver you. If the chords are really complex then I will use Scaler 2 on my left hand but to get those sweet pro pianist melodic chords on the right hand you will need to know some form of music theory. Don't just rely on a plugin but rather challenge yourself to get better.
@Ambientdave I hear you back. I work a regular 9 hour job for the Department of the Defense (Air Force), raise a house full of energetic weenie dogs, in a committed relationship and I ghost produce on the side as well as working on my 4th album. Once you learn music theory you will be shocked just how much faster you can work. I could already play from ear but decided to learn sheet music along with music theory at the beginning of the lock down. A year and some change later I can actually read sheet music and understand music theory lingo. It's really NOT that hard with some application. The more you practice and get better the less you will rely on plugins like Scaler 2. However, I feel Scaler 2 has definitely helped me get to my goal much much faster. I'm trying to convey to you that if I can do then anyone should be able to do it. You can do it! 😊
Chord charts. Oh. My. God. I didn't even realize this was in the new update till watching this. So awesome. This plugin is turning into the greatest songwriting program ever created. I'm pretty sure it's already there. I honestly can't believe one of the major DAWs haven't swooped in, bought you guys and integrated all this into their program natively. You guys are totally crushing it.
Scaler 2 is the finest plugin I have EVER bought, my theory knowledge has improved dramatically since purchase. This FREE update is a fantastic gesture from Scaler/Plugin Boutique. Thanks to David Carbone for all the awesome tutorials.
I am so freaking impressed. The 2.5 update just takes this plugin to whole new level. I’m watching this video almost in disbelief. I didn’t use scaler very much before but now I’ve used it more in the last few days than the whole one to two years I’ve had it.
The developers of this plugin are geniuses. I hope they keep evolving this wonderful tool. I wish the company the very best I am very amazed with all the implications they've made since the beginning.
Thank you very kind words, we've worked hard on Scaler and I use it everyday in my compositions. There are many artists and devs involved here and there is lots to come.
Hi David - absolutely brilliant! Plugin of the Decade !! THE GUI IS FRESH, DELIGHTFUL AND PERFECT !!! - I love the new Guitar Strumming Features and Guitar Mode in the menu - excellent ! Many thanks to Mastermind David and all involved. You are all our heroes !
Edouard Mainier and the rest of the team have all worked hard to make Scaler a little more special. We will keep trying to improve. Thanks for supporting and using S2. Have fun!
Sorry, but pretty much nothing changed in the GUI. How can you find it perfect? Most of my producers friend say that they can't use Scaler properly exactly because of its interface, and I kind of agree with them. Sometimes you don't really know which road to take, I find it.. Not confusing but rather dispersive, and I know how to use it
Great Update! The Suggested Chords feature is great, but I wish the chords were layed out in a grid, like Pad Mode to avoid scrolling though chords. More importantly, the ability to lock the Pattern and Suggested Mode to a miidi keyboard at the same time (split keyboard) would make it easier to audition the Suggested Chords while playing the chords in my Pattern with a midi controller. Great job, Thank you and please consider this idea.
Thank you so much for the plugin and especially these videos! I know we should always read the manual, but nothing explains it better than videos like this! If more companies did this with their plugins, I would bet a lot people would be purchasing them as well. This plugins was one of my favorite investments I've ever made, I can't thank you and your team enough!
As always, Mr Carbone knows how to use this tool, the best midi tool i've used too ... & i use nearly every other Ai midi stuff out there ... Scaler ... way above …
The new suggest features are great. There was a lot here that will be very useful. I was stuck on one of my songs finding the right chords. Try as I could I couldn’t identify one of the chords in the chorus.
YEAH BABY! woohoo! You guys are LEGENDS! I fucking LOVE this plugin. Still my favorite plugin since V1 came out. You guys really knocked it out of the park with the new changes. Every time I see a new Scaler update video show up, it's Christmas all over again! Thanks to your wonderful team. Well done!
Amazing new update! Been getting excited about it for weeks. Thanks to David and all the Scaler team for the hard work that’s gone onto this plug-in - now at the top of its league!
Please add an ambient electric and acoustic guitar mode. I'm also a huge fan of Radiohead, The Beatles, Sting, and Pink Floyd. And would love suggested chords, chord progressions, and melodies influenced by their music. You could potentially do this for any big named artists that people want to emulate sounds from. Deadmau5, Bjork, Nine Inch Nails, Etc. I know you can't work with these artists directly but maybe your program can analyze their music libraries and come back with a lot of new and unique musical arrangements and pallets based on their material. Now some well-deserved praise. You've formulated something so incredible it's hard to put into words. An amazing new world has opened up when for years you would just hear sounds in your head that were imprisoned there because you lacked the ability to play a particular instrument or didn't have the musical knowledge. But now those sounds can be materialized into reality and shared with the world because of what you created. It's a brilliant and a miraculous piece of software. Perhaps the best in all of music production I've ever seen. I'm immensely thankful that you made it for us. It's literally a dream come true for me. Please never stop adding to it and doing the incredible work you're doing.
Thank you, all, for creating such a wonderful tool. The best music making purchase I’ve made, honestly. Now, to run to my studio and download the update. Looking forward to messing around!!!
This plugin goes from strength to strength. I can’t wait to dive into the new suggest feature. I can see that alone growing and growing. Well done David and the team. Amazing work.
I never took music theory classes, I always find them “boring”, so I learn music by myself, playing by ears, at a pretty decent level, I know chords so I could always find a way. However, since I’m lacking music theory education, I also tend to always play the same thing… I know we can do thousand of songs with just 4 chords, but still, I wanted to improve my composition to try chords I wouldn’t play. So it can be useful just to get a starting point that is completely different from what I’m generally doing, so it avoid me to get stuck in the same pattern, same progression, same ol’ same ol’… that’s why I just bought Scaler. I know many DAW or controller keyboard have some “chords/scale” features, but I wanted to have something pretty evolved in my DAW. Scaler looks perfect for that use.
As musician, with a solid background in chord theory, this plugin is amazing and incredibly helpful. I really appreciate your continued development and passion to really open up the creative doors. It's been a great tool to analyze my own work and the suggest mode has come up with some amazing ideas I would have never considered. It's inspired me to burn the midnight oil on my chord theory lessons. I just wanted to say thanks! Keep up the great work!
Beatiful plugin. Is one of my best purchases. It keeps on developing and developing. I keep on following instructions, it is easier to follow along then having to start from scratch. It is some kind of Swiss music knife. That chord chart feature is very useful for me, and my guitar.
Scalar - especially version 2 - is an absolute killer app if you're working on composition. Framing out chord progressions and voicings can be challenging because we all fall into comfortable ruts. This can, if you use it correctly, force you to broaden your melodic ideas. Scalar deserves a _LOT_ more love and coverage. Huge thanks for a very thoughtful and in-depth video. Cheers, mate!
Great update. I’d like to thanks to David and all the team behind Scaler for this great plugin and their hard work to improve it mainly according our suggestions .
This update is absolutely incredible. As a guitar player I've been wanting a easier way to see the chords. This is definitely the best plugin out there! Its honestly one of the best theory tools I've ever seen.
As I said before in your previous Scaler presentation: Amazing! The best instruction films I've seen on RU-vid. What a plug-in!!! This will contribute a lot to my musical succes! I cannot wait to start with Scaler 2.
Finally got a chance to use the suggest feature - and it came in huge. Stumbled on the transition from F# Maj to D Maj which gives a pretty cinematic/epic sound, but I couldn't figure out a transition off that D Maj. Strolled on over to the edge of the recommendations and apparently E#/F Maj was the winner of the day. Also, I never new F# Double Harmonic Major was a scale, but I do now! I look forward to seeing what other improvements come along with Scaler!
Scaler 2 is simply phenomenal! It should be an essential part of any music school curriculum and a tool in every musician's toolbox. Completely mind blown. They could have charged money for this upgrade and I would have gladly paid it. Thanks, great product great company 😊
Love this program. It's a blast to use! Very impressed with the number of feature updates you guys release as well. An absolutely worthwhile investment!
All that's left is to put a custom arp like nora arp or something to create melody's within the scaler app itself or even dragging your own midi into it as a sequence but then scaler can make it to whatever scale or play to the chords. You guys are incredible
this really has changed my life since covid all has become depressing but this new ft for learning and exploring has made life more interesting again. Thank you all for introducing and teaching us how to master this great invention!! I love it!!
Really nice feedback and thank you for the kind words, we are all loving scaler and what it brings to us in terms of production and education. Thanks for the love and support.
Hi David. You need to be able to set a specific stum pattern *PER CHORD* on the bottom row. This way you can perform a song the same way everytime. Would be an absolute game changer!
You Can! See here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eGVrscdVZm0.html or for updated EDIT more here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-28hDr7NNKQ8.html
I had a period where I used Scaler a lot. I think I am going into another period like that, great plugin. And it is one of those plugins that are the whole package, it just works really well. The suggest-feature looks cool. Thanks!
Great update 👍. Thanks for your work. For Scaler 3 I would like to see support for strings 🎻, i.e. suitable phrases and sequences for legato, pizzicato, etc. With the current phrases and sequences I often find that they are not well suited for strings, for example because they are too fast or because too many notes are played at once. Therefore, it would be a great addition if the physical limitations of strings could be taken into account in the future. I love Scaler 2, thank you for creating and maintaining this product 😀
Seeing a new release of Scaler is like Christmas morning for me. It's amazing how much it has developed in version 2. I can't wait to play with Suggest mode. What does "Scaler Control" indicate?
Nice spot! We've distinguished the normal Scaler Instrument, Control (Midi FX plugin for Logic Pro X) and the Audio Plugin by marking the latter two. Helps users define which one is on a channel
