You are the first person who has clearly explained the difference between dandruff and dry flakes to me!!!everything else on the internet didn’t make any sense. Thank you! Can’t wait for part 2.
Omg JVN you’re giving updated Jackie O with the soft blended eye, the voluptuous curl in front, and the mid-century color pattern in the top (top? dress?) but making it 2022 with the 1 shoulder & subtle sparkle on the eyes. This is your LEWK, babyyy!!! 😍😍😍
You’re stunning. You’re giving “stunning, sexy, siren” in this one shoulder moment w/ your beautiful hair. Also, as a healthcare worker, I appreciate your use of evidence based data. One of the *many* reasons I follow you, you’re a knowledgeable professional & you provide info for ALL hair, thank you for providing info for those of us w/ kinky & coily hair, too😘
You look beautiful in every video 😩 I literally can not get over your hair, make up and glowing skin! You should totally do a makeup GRWM so we can learn your ways!
In one of these scalp care videos, could you possibly address eczema and psoriasis on the scalp? It’s something my sister and I have been seriously struggling with. And I have super sentimos skin and I’m allergic to a lot of the common remedies for it so I’m desperate. Thank you! 😘
i’m so glad you mentioned this. i haven’t had a flare up like i’m experiencing in years. but i started having dry patches around my hairline, near my ears and near my neck. it looks like eczema. i need help!
To be honest you are better off seeing a doctor or dermatologist about scalp psoriasis or eczema. The former is largely an inflammatory trigger. The latter could be the result of irritation from oil and sebum actually building up (in which case the solution is actually to wash more often) or an allergic reaction to a certain product (dry shampoo is a common trigger) and it can also be brought on by internal factors such as stress. hairdressers are not typically qualified to prescribe advice on genuine skin concerns so please see a doctor. You will need medicated shampoo if it persists. I lost hair in the past from untreated chronic scalp psoriasis so please don’t leave it too late. Good luck
JVN, I just needed to say my hair journey, aka major outer appearance factor, has just exploded by not only using your products but like when (very healing) crying in the shower I not only care for my hair I see your name on the bottle and I am encouraged by who you are and your non judgmental, unconditional love for others and your sass!! Thank you for doing all the hard work and having such a strong voice.
I got your scalp oil last week and I got so much less hair loss and breakage after washing my hair! I wasn’t sure if it would work (never used a scalp oil before) but it blew my mind. You rock!! ❤
Same!! I am seriously in loove with Jvn's scalp oil. I've always had itchy, irritated and dry scalp but have now seen a noticable difference just after 1.5 months of consistant use! I've been telling everyone I know. I hope others try it too
Hey Jonathan, Thank you for speaking out on binge eating disorder. You accepting your issue so boldly allowed me to face my problem head on and take steps to heal myself. Best of luck to you and the relationship you have with your body.
Jonathan you absolutely crack me up to pieces 😅 !! Your humor is something that keeps me laughing through the day . I would watch you just for that ; even though your hair / skin tips are impeccable . Thank you for delivering your info in such a humorous way , much needed .
@@jvn have you heard of youtubers like nostalgia critic, angry video game nerd, cinema snob, film brain, obscurus lupa, linkara, spooney, phelous, nostalgia chick, todd in the shadows, and rap critic
Hoping you read the comment. I need help with dandruff. It has been an issue and can you share a home remedy instead of a product because i am from India and it will be difficult to get the same. PS love your look❤❤❤❤❤
Get that JVN pre wash scalp oil, peeps! It's amazing AND soooo many baby hairs of mine have made a serious comeback. #JaredNeedsToComeToNewEnglandForASelfie
Jonathan, thank you so much for all the hair education you provide. It would mean so much if you could do a quick video on your experience with Covid hair? It is very real and there’s not much out there to share anyone’s experiences or stories. If you would be able to find fans who share similar struggles and how to cope and treat Covid hair, that would mean the world to me. Hair is such a deep and personal journey that gets overlooked. Thank you thank you for everything 💕
Oh.. now I want Jvn to cover covid hair because before reading your comment I had never heard of this! I'll do a google search now on it, but this sounds like a topic that needs more coverage!
Thank you for this! I love your prewash oil, especially in the winter. I had no idea about the importance of conditioning the scalp. I definitely thought that made the hair oily. I have the embody conditioner, so I will start! Thoughts on dry shampoo? . . . I'm sensing a cringe, maybe.
Wow! You look stunning! I used to have really bad scalp problems, prior to using your product. It literally has made my scalp feel soo refreshed! Even my husband is having better hair after using your products. We’d be lost without you. Love you! 💜💜
How do you always post exactly the video I need? I've been having dry scalp issues, and I use your Nurture conditioner, but I was avoiding the roots because I was worried it would weigh it down since I have very fine hair, JUST LIKE YOU SAID. I will start using it on my scalp too from now on! I've also been using dry shampoo a lot lately, because I started my own business earlier this year and I've just been so busy, but I'm worried it's messing with my scalp. Do you have any recommendations for fast solutions for my hair on mornings when I don't have time to hop in the shower?
A little conditioning mist until you have time! Some dry shampoos can work in moderation, just can be confusing for some scalps if used too consistently!
I never would've thought that using an oil would help get rid of gunk and debris on my scalp! Thank you for dropping knowledge bombs (and not to mention Tuesday hotness with that Rita Heyworth side part and waves)!!
loved this video but not the paraben misinformation :/ there are no studies linking parabens to being endocrine disrupting and any doctor/dermatologist (who specializes in skin, hair, and nails) would tell you that. parabens are so safe and have been used for years!!
I looove you so much ! And your hair oil is amazing!!! Ad thank you for these videos!!! They really help me a lot ! So why do they say conditioner only goes on the ends of the hair ?
I've literally been struggling with understanding my scalp more recently! I've been looking into seeing a trichologist/ dermatologist. Thank you for being you. You are my idol 🍀
I can’t wait for part 2. My scalp AND hair are making me want to cry right now. 😭 With PCOS, my body is all whack and apparently the hormone imbalance affects one’s hair, as well. Does the temperature of the water when you’re washing matter? I’ve taken a few steps that seem to have helped a bit. I’m interested in that scalp oil…. *flutters away to read and research* Thank you ❤️❤️
Hi love! I am not a cosmetologist, but I worked at Ulta for several years and the stylists I worked with recommended cold water washing to help maintain color. I've also heard you want to use cool to lukewarm water on your hair to keep from drying out your scalp, and it supposedly makes your hair shinier too. Professionals, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong!
How can scalp oil provide moisture to the scalp? If we apply the same logic here as when we think about face and body skin care then oil only prevents the moisture for evaporating, but does not add to the moisture of any skin. Lovely video and would like to hear your thoughts.
I'm that student who is a visual learner and is chuckling with her friends in the back of the class at 7:52 😏 You totally would have been our favorite teacher ❤
Start the video, see JVN looking poised and STUNNING and thinking how glam she is…then hear “Shut up and take notes” and squeezes her breast 🤣😂 and thinking there’s our Queen! 👑❤ Love this channel love this incredible human being!!
I absolutely LOVE your products! I highly recommend the scalp oil because it has made my hair sooooo much betta! I adore you JVN! Can’t wait to buy more of your incredible products ❤
I have straight fine thin hair that I use to have thick hair but i have been losing cause of hormones and covid and surgeries. I'm trying to get my scalp and hair healthier while trying to heal my body. what shampoo and conditioner and pre oil treatment do you think would be best? I was looking over your products but don't know what ones to chose
I wash my hair every 2-3 weeks (sounds gross, but I wfh and it doesn't get greasy), and my scalp is still a bit flaky. :( I haven't been able to find any scalp treatments that work for my hair unfortunately since they all seem to have rosemary in some fashion (even the leaf extract) and I'm allergic so I can't use them.
THIS WAS SO GOOD. Bless you, why is this the only informational video I’ve seen on RU-vid about my dry scalp issues. I’ve been dealing with this for years and I feel like I can start making progress now.
Wow! So much info!! I've had scalp issues for years (I also have dermatillomania and thats where I pick most often). I was originally going to watch this later, but there was so much info in here that makes so much sense!! My skin has always been a bit more sensitive so it would make sense that my scalp is more of an issue. I've already been kind of careful with products because of my skin issues and allergies. I don't think my shampoo and conditioner have any sulfates or parabens. It's a good reminder though, and having it explained helped me to learn why sulfates and parabens are not good.
Thank you for teaching us the facts! Your videos are always so fun and interesting and it’s obvious how passionate you are about your trade. All this and looking absolutely gorgeous doing it! You’re the best ❤️
I’ve had oily hair forever and no matter what I do, nothing helps. I wash every 3-4 days but it gets greasy on day 2. I can’t afford a ton of products - what would be the one thing you would suggest? I also use paraben, sulfate etc free shampoo & conditioner
This was really helpful and just all kinds of awesome!!!! Thank you for the great scalp and hair information! Love JVN so much!!!! Also, #MakeJaredAnInternetCelebrity😀🥰💞
Jonathan - This scalp care lesson is very interesting! Are your products safe to use on children (2 year old)? Looking forward to Part 2 next week! Thank you!! #makejaredaninternetcelebrity
Jonathan! I have been googling scalp shampoos for about a week and then you come out with this video!!! I have seriously fine, flat hair and I literally just discovered a styling product that I adore. But between that and my texturising spray, I think they're making my scalp itchy. I don't want to give them up when I have FINALLY landed on something that works for me. Would the pre shampoo scalp oil counteract that? Or am I going to have to give up on the only product that's given me big hair - ever? PS I adore this look on you BTW. Very Rita Hayworth.
I am new to JVN products and I love them. Finally, at 55 my hair looks healthy and shiny and I no longer have to use heat every time I wash. My only problem is day 2 hair. I have fine, wavy, probably thinning hair that looks dreadful on day two even if I just went it a bit, it just looks greasy and unfortunately is too short to wear up. If you have any advice that would be fab. X
Johnathan, my daughter and I love your videos! However as a multiracial family, we also feel that you need to acknowledge the truth, which is, that several cultures in the world have and have always had ways to nourish the scalp and have always emphasized scalp care. I am Indian and oiling and massaging our scalp once a week before washing our hair was a normal part of our routine. The beauty industry is sufficiently white-washed already. Please stop contributing to white capitalist heteropatriarchy by not researching and acknowledging global, pre-colonial and non-white cultures of hair care and beauty. I am sure this is not intentional on your part and believe me, we LOVE you. But we would like to see other stories, other perspectives and shifting of white privilege. Thank you.
I probably have 100,000 hair follicles but only half of them are working idk what it is I'll always have so much of my scalp on show I wish I had your hair
I don’t think I could love JVN anymore than I do now! These videos are amazing for my hair journey as a curly girl. Love you and thanks for always keeping us informed and entertained ❤
How do they become more beautiful in every video 😍 Also, can we please appreciate how JVN Hair is such a genuinely excellent product and always kept at an affordable price?
Oh my, what a great look for you! Brunette Jessica Rabbit. 😍 It sounds like you have the right products for my hair/scalp. BUT - I live in Europe (Denmark). Any chance of you getting your products into our shops too? Pleeeease? 😊🙏
Question: My scalp still gets dry and flaky even after I take a shower? What does that mean? Is it product build up? Or is my scalp still lacking moisture? I’m so confused and my scalp is driving me nuts because I can’t stop itching it and causing more flakes to show up. 😩😩😭😭😭
Love everything about this video; your hair, makeup, outfit, and all the info but I have to say your arms are distracting me! Whatever you’re doing is totally working. You move your hands the whole video but your arms are tight AF! I can’t stop staring at them. 🤗
Been waiting for this video...I wish i knew about scalp care years ago! Getting to know my scalp more and how to take care of it and wondered, do you see any issue with leaving your pre-wash scalp oil on for longer than the suggested time? I'm not 100% sure yet if my scalp is dry or too oily, so I'm sure it depends on that as a factor too! Thanks, love you!!!! 😘
Holy Sudsy Soap Jonathan, I just tried out your hair products. I did not know shampoo was supposed to lather like that. All these years, those shampoo bottles have lied to me!! I can't wait to shampoo/condition again! 🥰
Ok what do i need? I wash my hair every other day, sometimes i go 3 days. I use clean products, I live offgrid the water is pretty harsh. I feel like my hair is heavy. GrNted my hair is down to my ass..ugg. cutting it off i swear! Help
I workout daily - and SWEAT - like… wet hair out of the shower full of sweat. So, I wash daily. I know I shouldn’t, but my hair is wet with sweat, so it’s nasty. What else can I do but wash it?
I have alopecia areata I'm post my first treatment ( everything growing back now ) *for now* but I need to find a safe clarifying shampoo that actually works my scalp has been producing more sweat and oil than ever before and I need help 🥲🥺❤️ love a fellow Canadian babe
JVN, I am kind of sceptical about some of the things in this video. Firstly, there are studies that show that the wash frequency doesn't cause your scalp to produce more oil than it otherwise would, and so I am wondering if your insights and advise on this are purely from your experience or if your products are based on studies that back these statements up. I find it really problematic that you are saying that the pre-wash oil will work for both people with excess oil as well as people without enough oil, specifically that it will balance the oil. How can more oil balance the existing oil on your scalp? I love that you are talking about the scalp as separate from the hair and it's need for moisturization but I feel really uncomfortable with all the claims you made without any backup in this video. I feel uncomfortable because it seems as though the information you are sharing is less about being informative and more about explaining why your products will work without saying those exact words. Given that your video is titled Scalp Care 101, the focus should be solely on distributing accurate information about scalp care and just because you call out your bias for the products in the video description does not mean that you have called out your bias in the information you are sharing about scalp care and how that could lead watchers to think your products are the answer. This seems a little too self serving to be an informational video and instead seems like an ad even though there is nothing indicating this is an ad in the description. I haven't looked into your products and so this has nothing to do with if they are good or not, this is about this video.
I have super fine and straight hair. It always got super oily so I skiped conditioner. Now that I have started conditioning and usong masks, its muuuch less oily
What would you recommend for hair loss? I recently bought your shampoo and conditioner for fine hair as well as the conditioner for damaged hair. I also recently started using minoxidil. Oh and also I purchased your hair oil is that okay to use when I am using minoxidil??
I love JVN and the starting of a line but as a Black person with very textured hair I often find these videos reminding me why the products and tips just aren’t for me
I love the idea of pre-poo treatment but my scalp is seborrheic dermatitis and I can't do scented products. Any recommendations of unscented scalp treatments? Maybe just aloe?
What's the ph level of your shampoo and conditioners? I didn't see it listed anywhere on the website. Dealing with a dry ass scalp for years, i know that the scalp sits at a 5.5, so the shampoos should be that level or close enough to.
Say if you neglected your scalp and it did clog your hair shaft so that your hair is finer and thinner, would you have raised bumps to where the clog shaft is? Kinda like your legs? Or not the same with the scalp? Another question, is there a way to reopen those shafts after time has passed?
Lol I used to wash my hair everyday and then I became a mom 😂 I go 4 days in between washes. By day 4 I got some serious greasy hair. My hair is used to basking in its grease lol.
