I bought this a few years ago and it’s not bad for the price, you can get some live data from it but like Jimmy said it’s basically a entry level scan tool. I have the Xtools D7 which under $400 it’s a pretty decent bi-directional scanner for a DIYer. I also purchased the Launch CRP919EBT and it’s about the same as the Xtool. Plan on getting a TopDon Phoenix Lite 2. I’m not a mechanic just a car guy who enjoys buying different tools.
Cool thanks for the input! The Phoenix Lite 2 is my favorite scan tool right now. I’m doing a video on the XTool version of it very soon! Between us. ;)
I wonder if some of the "extra" features that are currently working will end after the initial trial membership. A lot of those tools give a free trial or something, and then you pay monthly or yearly for a subscription.
Great scanner review Jimmy,I agree that if you can buy the next level up ,I just bought the Topdon ArtiDiag800BT and that has all the things you were talking about ,saw they had a great offer before xmas and went for it,now all I need is for the cars to go wrong ,no forget I said that🤣
On record test, check the coolant temperature sensor accuracy with the engine off engine cold and see if it's close to outside temperature. If not, the CTS can be bad. Check EGR % and IAC valve % and TPS readings to check their accuracy.
It can do some resets and those type functions, but not bidirectional controls. I would go with the next tool up for more capability. Here is a link for one that I recommend at the next level, it is an affiliate link that supports the channel also. Thank you amzn.to/3XEk1jC
Do you have to pay every year in order for this OBD reader to work ? If you dont pay does that still work ? Do you need to have internet to used it ? If you don't updates does that still work without updates ? Out from the box can you used it without wifi or internet ? Can this scan for Fuel Pressure ? And can this do compression test ? What is the difference between LAUNCH CRP 129 E Elite ? How Long does it takes to do Updates ?
It will show fuel pressure on most vehicles, functions vary by brand and model. Cranking compression it can do if enabled by the manufacturer. It is an entry level tool, so it is fairly limited compared to higher end tools though.
Wish I'd known about this before I bought this stupid INNOVA, that came with no manual ( you have access it online) and the OBD cord is too short. It has Live Data and ABS, a lot better than my old one which had none of that. Regardless, I'm done with the Code Readers. Next stop Phoenix Lite 2.....I need Bi-Directional. I ain't playing no more. 😄 Anyway, thanks for showcasing this one Jimmy.. I like the screen on it and functions it has.
@@JimmyMakingitworkFYI I used on my 2021 Audi q7 and 2018 Jeep compass and it worked! Shows live data from different modules including live wheels speed from abs. I believe they updated the device in 2024 with more cars etc
