thank you for uploading, brings back memories of when i was a kid and went along with a vriend back then, especially the distinctive raw sound of the engine.
Brings back childhood memories with daddy during 80's. Many days I was with him driving tank truck Scania 142. I drove too in factory area even 15-17 year old. Once I reversed 30meter in ½hour this full trailer combination, when he was discharging one other truck. Later with the my driving license I drove MAN on public way couple of times. P.S. This was in Finland (tupakointi kielletty)
Thanks Williams for posting this video. I have my dad sick in hospital. In my country he was the first person to handle this Scania model and he always spoke to me very well about his truck ... which was excellent and there was no one who could compete in power over there at the beginning of the decade of the 80s A long time ago I wanted to listen to that machine again, which brings back so many memories to you. I know i love the sound my dad used to own one in 1980s. When i was little kid and i enjoyed it so much. Good old memories. Oh god those days never come back again. I only go to big boys toys show only to sit inside a Scania
Drove a 141 in 1986.did europeon work twin 400ltr fuel tanks .was forever cleaning the diesel glass bowls ....was a great truck ...brings back memories
@@Kate-li8vl Judging by the gearstick your right, my dad drove a 111 split box it had a big switch on the front of the gear stick to switch to the high range,
Anyone who says the 10 speed Scania gear box is great , must be drunk or out of his mind. It was slow to shift , lacked a lot of gears, and was not known to last long when used In countrys where heavy loads were allowed. I drove a 1985 model 142 , produced In. Sweden. At that time , all 142 ‘s delievered to Sweden, Finland and Norway, had an extra pump to cool the oil on the gearbox. Above the ashtray , there was a knob to start the pump , and an instrument that showed the oil temp In the gearbox. But they made , and make , great engines !

Tive o prazer de dirigir um Scania 140 ano 80 , de Guarulhos para Américo Brasiliense e de Araraquara, passando por Guarulhos até o Bairro do Caju no Rio de Janeiro, só um pequeno detalhe : O Scania 140 estava engatado numa carreta extensiva e eu não tinha experiência e fui sem escolta ou batedor numa carreta de vinte e seis metros de comprimento , mas graças a Deus cheguei no destino. Estava muito empolgado por dirigir o "Elekazão" 140 .
Old Scania driver extra right left from stick when change range. I had 111 and was doing with 113 12 gear about one month before learned that it dont need it anymore.
Some 22 years ago I drove the 142M for a while, 380 Horse Power, it was a little bit run down. It was a meat truck so heavy loads. Must have been some 8 years old at that time and had done close to 800.000 km. The shifter was much shorter compared to this earlier model in the movie.
Your downshifting is an example of single-clutch revmatching, I rarely saw it, usually in decceleration men either use double-clutch or single clutch without blipping the gas.
Ah fantastic! Nice! Brings back childhood memories with my uncle driving across Europe with heavy loads of melasses/syrup. Nowadays trucks don't sound this nice anymore....
@@scaniamania59 1-5 with range button in low position. 6-10 with range button in high position. Up if I remember correctly. Unloaded its easy tho start on gear 3, (low range). Then skip to 6 ( high range) then 7 or 8 depending. No need to walk through all the gears. With full load 60 ton. All gears are used. Most of the time.
How is this actual layout on the transmission? Like if you can imagine a 6-speed from a car layout. Does it go like 1 2 3 4 5, range, 1 2 3 4 5? Or is it 2 3 4 5 6, range, 2 3 4 5 6? And where is the reverse on that layout? I wanna try and recreate it in ETS2 with my Scania 141 mod on.
6 gears and 2 ranges: Left front = reserse, left back = 1, middle front = 2, middle back = 3, right front = 4, right back = 5. I am shifting 3, 5, 7,8,9 and 10
+bbf46 Joo, nivelet on OK ja muutenkin loota tuntuu olevan kunnossa. Kytkimen ilmausta on harjoiteltu pariinkin otteeseen ja vieläkin irroittaa vasta ihan lopussa.
Ei taida auttaa ilmaus. Mulla vanha 111 ja siinä oli sama ongelma, kytkimen irrotusakselin reijät täytettiin ja porattiin, joka paikassa hiukan väljää sinne se hukkuu.
