Hello Bruce. Unfortunately, due to the high mileage, the o-ring on the output of the feeder is worn out. And that's where the engine oil usually leaks. I know from experience. I have two of these at home. One 460 hp 1.9 million kilometers and one 530 hp 2.5 million kilometers . The feeder must be dismantled and the o-ring and seals replaced. I'm glad you take care of these machines with love. They're not as big as American trucks. But they're a lot stronger and tougher than their counterparts out there. Best regards. Balázs from Hungary

Those undertrays are multifunctional. Catching oil is probably the least Important. Aerodynamics, foreign object protection, thermal stability and catching 10mm spanners.

You need 315/80R22.5 156K on the rear and 386/65R22.5 160K on the front.

If those sweet looking alloy wheels came off the red truck remove the wheel studs off of it and use them on the black one. Then use the shorter studs off the black one for the red one as it presumably will use steel wheels. Quick Tip: Start the studs in their splined holes and then pull them in with the nuts.

Iv grown up in ireland with scanias. .i even worked in delaney commercials a main scania dealer....but im ADDICTED to your scania content. I never gave them the appreciation when i was actually there. I remember when the R series launched and the WHOLE place was in the yard swooning over it❤🇮🇪🇺🇸

Nice one mate. I though did appreciate them, back in the 70's serving my apprenticeship, the only opposition was working on AEC, Albion, Guy, Scammell, Foden, ERF, Seddon, Atkinson, Leyland, Bedford etc. I worked for British Road Services (Worcester) unfortunately our depot had no Volvo's for me to compare with.

Kungens kruva = king's curve between Södertälje and Stockholm in Sweden. The background to the name is that the Cadillac Series 75 Fleetwood Sedan of the 1939 model in which King Gustaf V traveled here drove into the ditch on Saturday afternoon, September 28, 1946. You are welcome to Sweden. :)

Kungens Kurva = Kings Curve. One of the first IKEA shops is right there. The highway has a bend and the Swedish King at the time drove into the ditch thus drivning to fast in the bend.

Bruce, your coolant leak is looking at you and laughing. If you look at your coolant pump it is like the rest of your engine. It’s got a fair bit of oil all over it except for fro the rear of the pulley. The coolant is coming from under your pulley and being spun onto the pump housing. If you can take the pulley off you will see it coming from the tell-tale hole or the marks from where it is slowly dripping out. The hole is used to give you early warning of a worn seal or bearing. If you pressure test it the pressure can blow the seal harder onto the spindle and actually tell you lies. One of those jobs where patience is a virtue. Order a pump now so you’ve got one ready before you strip the old one out.

No it's not. The drive and liftaxel should be the same size. When the wheels on the drive axel starts to get worn out you move them to the lift and get new on the drive.

No problem having smaller tires on the tag. It is very practical when you ride with a lifted axle. You get much better ground clearance and clearance between the tag wheels and the trailer. It helps a lot riding over sharp bumps, etc.

UV dye is irreplaceable for diagnosing leaks. all parts houses carry it, use more than the bottle suggests. I always use x2 as much as the bottle says to use, it just gives brighter results. look into it if you haven't before.

Hey Bruce, Koni Headquarter is in the Netherlands. I had the shorter yellow adjustables in my very first car. They are mostly used in racing to lower the car but streetworthy, too. Best shocks ever are the ones from Bilstein.

I served my apprenticeship back in the 70's on Scania 110's & 11's where I first came across centrifugal-type oil filters. I was always amazed at the carbon build-up & took great pleasure in pealing it out of the filter housing (weird ay, lol). Great video again mate, love your Scania appreciation.

Those holes in the alloy rims could be a different size to promote airflow between the inside to outside. Just like the cooling fan blades on an alternator pulley are different sizes.

Kungens kurva means the Kings Curve. The king´s driver slid off the road into a ditch many years ago, hence the name. Kungens kurva is most known in Sweden for having the first IKEA department store (and the largest i the world). Prior to that IKEA was just post ordered with a small factory store

Hi Bruce. 1. The Compressor is mounted with Two upper screws from the back and one lower from the front. The lower screw goes through the transmission cover and is then attached to the alternator bracket. Transmission / Opticruise: On the right side of the gearbox there is an actuator. Its job is to change gears and it is operated by air. Inside there is oil. And I recommend that it will be changed at every major service. It uses ATF oil (same as the red oil for the power steering).

if the centrifugal oil cleaner is clean and the engine oil has not been changed, it may be an indication that the centrifugal oil cleaner is not working properly. but yours in particular looked like someone had just cleaned it. I actually work at Scania in King's Curve! 😂

Hey Bruce, the plastic hanging under the engine is for better airflow, better mileage and also less enginesound. It might not look like much but it make a big difference. The Oil syclone service kit includes a paperinsert for easy cleaning.

Last time I saw a clean oil seperator filter on a scania was due to worn out bushings on the seperator that leaks oil pressure.The nozzles need some oil pressure to spin the seperator. Nice Scania btw👍

to answer your question what that is @9:50 the cover pan under the engine can be a "legally required" collecting pan that prevents oil contamination from getting into the field. That's exactly the problem you're having with oil and coolant loss, right now?! You should know that we sometimes have the “most stupid laws” in Europe How do I get that?! The "truck" was used on the farm in the fields when it´s harvesting season. The tub only holds the loose, oily dirt that falls down, and if the machine has problems it doesn't help anymore For example we have a badge on municipal trucks with an "L" on it, which stands for "QUIET" and is found especially on trucks that drive in cities. They have a "noise protection package" installed so that they drive more quietly... but... then a 25 ton hydraulic crusher press to compress garbage??? WTF?!" you are no longer woken up by the noise of the engine at 5 in the morning but by the hydraulics!!!

the plastic pans/trays under the engine are called drip pans/trays, as in that is what they are used for is to catch spillages before they end up on the road surface and causing potential problems for other road users, should also make the bottom of the engine more aerodynamic as well directing wind so that the wind doesn't find a spot to slow the truck or vehicle down leading to better fuel ecconomy. but it is also another way for you to find if you got an engine leak somewhere as the tray will be wet rather than dry, so helps you to find if you got a fast leak or a slow leak if checked regularly with the vehicles weekly walk around checks/maintenance schedule. but does also mean that when you got a fast leak could be a little while before you notice the ground being wet under the vehicle due to the diapered effect as you put it!!

Cleaning and lubricating the window seals, and guide tracks on any vehicle can significantly help the function especially when the vehicle is older. Did it on my wife’s car and it’s like brand new

These wheels look sweet. The plastic cover is for better air flow and maybe also to keep mud and salt off the engine as the metal parts corrode quite heavily when exposed to the brine that forms when roads are de-iced with salt.

Hey Bruce;you should look for a hubpilot conversion kit for Scanias if the hubs on Scanias are studpilots,and get in touch with the folks at Alcoa and see if they can manufacture a set of aluminum Alcoas and put a set of polished aluminum Alcoas on the Scania. The difference on the tire size shouldn’t have anything to do with your abs/esp light coming on. You can drive with axel off the ground with out any warning lights coming on…. Beside, it’s normal to run with smaller tires on the lazy axel, due to higher ground clearance when lifted off the up…

Good to see appreciation of the Scania procuct in the Land of Noise, Smoke & Chrome! R530 - the last incarnation of the mostly "augmented" mechanical, 14lt V8!! P.S. get a set of crank bearings while in Sweden!! notorious for spinning main bearings, way back when, here in the Land of Oz.. usually on B double duty, 65t +. Chattering of injection pump &/or air comp if allowed to come loose, damages tcase plate.. leaks oil Get some opticruise kits too!! Hei Bruce. Put the big hole wheels on the drives and the small ones at the tag's. And in Norway we do run smaler tires on the tag so the tires dont rub the underside og the trailer when the tag is lifted.

For the cab jack, why don't you get a small hydraulic pump that usually takes an electric motor or belt to run it, and put a nut on the end of the shaft, and use a cordless electric impact or drill to operate it? That would be awesome!

Traction will turn on more often than you'd expect even with the proper tires. suspension can be on the soft side and that is what does it. My 2016 Series 6 does that but not my 2022. Rear tires are without a doubt 315s, all of them. and 385 at the front.

I am not sure what is possible to buy in Canada, but one project that would be interesting is if Bruce got hold of a euro-truck from a truck and trailer set (not the semi tractor). Remove what is on it and add a fifth wheel, and he would have a euro-truck about the same length as a conventional tractor. The fifth wheel could be bolted on the chassis to fit the american trailers. Then he would have the best from both worlds, the stability of a longer tractor and the comfort of the euro-truck.

If a wheel alignment doesn’t solve the problem check if it’s got the proper caster block. You may need to change it. My series 4 I had came to Australia with LHD caster blocks it pulled left bad. The V8s are renowned for leaking manifold gaskets .

in the genuine service kit you get a thin card type insert which goes inside and stops the carbon sticking to the spinner also makes it easier to clean .
