That was not why they responded that way. It's because he said he was the wisest one he's ever known and for somebody as old as the Sphinx that was a crazy statement. Especially since we all know Scandlan has nothing but debauchery on his mind.

For Kamaljiori, who is ancient beyond ancient, who was dear friends to the White Duke himself, the former wielder of Mythcarver, to proclaim Scanlan as "the wisest sage he has known" is an immense compliment. Whether it's to Scanlan's actual wisdom or just his immense capability for jackassery is another thing.

“We’re alive? Who do we have to thank for that?” Scanlan. The answer to your question Vax, is you thank Scanlan. He’s the only one who clued in on how the Sphinx was basically telling them how to beat him. (He tried to tell Pike but got dismissed because I guess “what would he know”?)

I love it when someone addresses them as Vox Machina, because the lore is, it means "Voice Machine" in Latin, and everyone at the table was a Voice Actor. So it's like "Greetings, Voice Actors!"

That's what bugs me tho: vox and machina are two nominatives that juxtaposed don't mean anything in latin. "Voice machine" would be "machina vocis". It's an irrelevant mistake in the grand scheme of the campaign, but it's literally in the title, it's everywhere and I cannot let go

@@Pepella its not meant to be a direct translation. Besides, grammatical "mistakes" are often done in order to be fancy. Theres also the chance they had no clue they were doing it 'wrong'
