The Brother tutorials are useless. every one i have seen is just music and the cursor moving around. You would think that a big company like brother would offer better tutorials. They say they offer support but that is equally as useless. Thank goodness there are people out there like you that share what they have learned with us newbies
I agree I have to rely on RU-vidrs to get anywhere. Now I’m looking for the print and cut function however I was told they don’t have it in the United States and all the videos I’ve been watching or Australia where they do have it so I don’t get to print and cut. I’m so sorry I didn’t go with cricket where you could buy anything you want anywhere without having to go through a dealer our dealer is worthless here.

Thank you so much. I like when you do a tutorial. You explain it so well. The use of removing and adding the nobs helped a lot. Also, I like this style better than the Live, because there aren't an interruptions. Please do both because I know others like the Live Great Job!

I love your videos, they are so informational. I am however upset with brother that they are charging us for another premium function just to print and cut. In my opinion this is so petty of brother. The print and cut should be sent as an update. These machines are so expensive and I feel Brother nickels and dimes us to death. Thank you, Ashley for all your help.
I have nothing to do with brother at all, so i have to buy these features as well if i want them, maybe contact Brother and voice your opinion you never know they may listen!

Great video again. Would love to see how print and cut works with scanned images by the machine (pdf) (minute 7.35 in the video). That's what I really want to learn. No direct cut. That's easy. Images I have at home and convert them to print and cut. 🙏
I dont understand, you either create a print and cut file, by using the activation function as ive shown in this video, or if you have something you have created already and printed out, you then just load that onto a SNC mat and choose scan, then you can choose scan to cut data, which will apply the cut outline and you can save the file to your machine/usb or canvas workspace. or use scan to direct cut and the machine will apply the cut line and cut it out directly, its the same principle but one you save the cut file on the machine the other you cut directly
Great tutorial! This tutorial is the reason I'm not sending back my newly purchased DX85. Now I have to order Print to Cut from the UK, because Brother for some stupid-ass reason, does not have it available in the US. All these ridiculous premium upgrades - what a way to milk customers. To be honest, I don’t use the principal function much if I want to make some stickers or labels et cetera. I normally just open a design in Canva. I use the free version save the document as a PDF then print it and then just scan it through my scanncut machine and cut it. I suppose it depends what you want to print and cut
Thank you for the wonderful tutorial! I purchased and activated the Print to Cut after watching your video and was really excited about its potential. However, (and this might be a silly question) I tried to import an SVG (a colorful wreath) and then export as a PDF but the PDF is blank, except for the registration marks. Did I misunderstand, and perhaps Print to Cut is only for non-SVG files? Maybe I need to manually print from a different program, then scan it into the machine to cut? Thank you in advance. I find you to be THE authority on Scan N Cut and I see your videos as my guidebook! You’re so smart and creative!
Hi yes you have misunderstood, the print and cut is for images, ie jpg, bmp, gif. SVG is not an image file. I’m sure i said that in the video, however i am revisiting several of my videos and print and cut is one of them, ive just recorded a new one its not live on the channel yet.

Hi! Love your Video I am just having trouble trying to purchase that function to get the activation code. When I went to Brother's site there was one card and it said out of stock- not sure I clicked on the correct card as it would not make sense that this feature would be out of stock? Thank you, go into system preferences (the icon that looks like a cog) find the mouse icon and select it and make sure secondary click is seleted and from the drop down make sure you have right side selected
Scan to direct cut is usually used to cut shapes from pre printed patterned paper, or stamped images, that you want the machine to cut our for you instead of using scissors. With the print to cut option you can create a file from any of the types of image files i mentioned, which you can then get the software to add a cut line to the outside for you, then save the printable file to print through a printer and then because it has registration marks on the printout, the machine knows where to find the cutline that the software applied automatically for you.
Hello Ashley, I am in Australia and have watched your video's for many years, thank you for sharing all you do. I am having trouble with Print n Cut, I have purchased digital downloads for my junk journals, but do not seem to be able to get them to print with the registration marks, Am I downloading the digetals in the wrong format does it make a difference, I have saved them as a PDF but it says it not valid. Truly frustrated Hope you can help me, Lyn
If you have purchased the print to cut activation card from Brother, you should be able to follow this video and create your print and cut files as i showed. If you dont have the print to cut function, you would have to print your digital download and use scan to direct cut and see if the machine can add an outline for you, but that would depend on if the machine can recognise the outline of the digital to be able to apply a cut line for you. Hope that makes sense.
I was trying to follow along with this very helpful video (all your videos are great) but my Canvas desktop does not allow me to do an 8.5 x 11 or any custom other than tiled or rolled. Does this ability come with the print to cut? Thanks for any help.
So frustrating that this is not available in the United States! I hate the print and cut in Cricut because of the size restrictions. I want this for my SDX!! 😢😢
No P&Cut is only for the autoblade machines so the DX/SDX machines. You could print something using a word type document and then scan that through your SNC machine and providing the outline of the printable images are defined good you could get your machine to add cut lines for you.
So my question is why can’t you design and print to pdf and then scan on any model of machine (not just dx) and then cut it? I’m wanting to design stickers in workspace and then print them and cut them with my cm machine. Wouldn’t this work for that?

You have to export your file as a pdf file to print, right. is there a way to get the file back into cws in order to export it to the cutter.? I exported as PDF & printed NOW i can't get it over to the cutter. so frustrated in NC.

Hi no it doesnt work with the CM machines, but i will have a video coming showing how you can do print and cut on all models without the print and cut activation feature
It depends where you live, if its UK you can buy the print to cut from makers superstore online, if anywhere else i dont know, but would suggest you ask a brother retailer.

I live in the U.S. and ordered from the makers superstore online. They sent me the activation codes via email rather than shipping it. I also ordered enhanced tracing from them too and they did the same thing with that.
I have asked you and other scan n cut people, how to find the canvas off line ??? I have watched you video on this about ten times and still don't understand it. Pinwheel is the download from Brother site and I have this. Where do I find the online version??????

If you bought the activation in the US it should work. One of my subscribers here in the Uk had problems, this is how she rectified it, it may or maynot help *** My printer is a brother and A4. I’m not very computer savvy but it appears that my pdf files always go through adobe acrobat. When you print and the setting screens come up , my default is ‘letter’ size plus ‘border on’ . So for each print (using the registration marks ) I have to choose A4, then borderless then tick change to pdf size. The printing normally would be ok but with the print to cut my registration marks were off set and not detected ***
