Thank you so much for this review! Spent a bit more than I was hoping on a document scanner, but that QBO integration seems worth it to me because their camera scanning app is no bueno.

Thank you for your very well done video on the ScanSnap ix1600 receipt edition. You helped me narrow down the best option to covert my paper files, receipts and photos to digital. I purchased the receipt edition on Amazon through your affiliate link because of the ability to more easily scan receipts and the fact that the receipt model seems to be a little newer. I look forward to eliminating as many paper files as possible so I can access my information remotely, find information more efficiently using the search feature on my computer and having less paper clutter.

Good stuff. I got the regular one. May return it for the Receipt Edition. While the QBO integration is not necessary for me, the long scan mode is a cool option. I've already had the regular model get 14" into a long Home Depot receipt and think it's a paper jam.

Just to be clear, only if you press the QBO Icon will it goto the QB cloud account. All the other Icons like folder, Photo goes to your local drive on your computer. Correct?

Hi Marc. Please excuse the delay in my response. That is mostly correct. Yes, the QBO Icon button sends data to the QBO account. With respect to other icons, it all depends on how you configure them. For example, if you use ScanSnap Cloud or other cloud services, the scans will go there; however, yes, out-of-the-box, the standard buttons send the data to your local hard drive using the ScanSnap Home software. 👍

I want to love this scanner, but I can't even turn it on. Am I missing something? The power cord that came with it has two prongs, but the machine on has one prong. I purchased an adaptor, and it isn't the right size. I swear I am a normal intelligent human. What am I missing?

I am a bookkeeper for multiple businesses. Does this allow me to login in to the different accounts? Or can you only set it up with one qb online account?

Hi there. Please excuse the delay in my response. I wanted to get you the best answer I could, so I checked with the scanner manufacturer and with Intuit, the people behind QuickBooks Online. As I understand it, you would need to unlink from one account and link to a different account to transition, so it would be most efficient for a process workflow to do everything on one account and then switch to the other. In a sense, this problem is not related to ScanSnap, but is instead a purposeful limitation put in place by Intuit for QBO by limiting the ability of devices to connect to accounts in the interests of security. There is hope that Intuit will make this work better in the future but for now, that is my understanding. If you want any more information about how exactly this would work, I would suggest that you contact the scanner manufacturer and/or the maker of QuickBooks Online, Intuit.

Hi Jacques. I checked with the manufacturer and I was told "that this model was developed, sold and is supported in the US market only at this time." Sorry about that but thank you for checking.

This item is out of stock in Amazon. Is the QBO integration an update to older ScanSnap ix1600?

Hi there. It may depend on where you are located. I have friends in the US who see that there are currently 18 in stock, but I'm in Canada and for me, it shows as being unavailable on Amazon.com. Hopefully for your region it will be back in stock soon. 😊👍

Oh and I checked with the manufacturer on your second question. The answer is no. The only way to get the QBO integration is to go with the Receipt Edition version.

ha just got an ix1600 and didn't know the receipt edition existed. stupid that we have to get a whole different scanner. poorly publicized. now i can't return my new ix1600. looking for workarounds

Would it work with QB Enterprise and not only QB Online? Oh.. finished watching video, it said QBO only and not Enterprise. Still a great contender to make work easy. I'll use your link to give it a try.

My understanding is that it is QB Online only at the moment. Ideally the developers will keep improving the firmware and ScanSnap Home software to make it work with more platforms. I agree with you 100% about it making work easy. It definitely helps with skipping many of the usual/traditional steps of finding a document, uploading it, naming it, coding other information like vendor, date, amount, etc. If you give it a try and like it, keep me in the loop and let me know. It's still a relatively new machine so we're all some of the first people who are using it. Very cool. 😊👍

After watching your video, i ended up getting the 1600 model. I can confirm now that it works with QBO and QB Enterprise Desktop. Bought this for my wife as she works with QBO and Enterprise Desktop for various clients. She said that this scanner is alot of help.

@@SeanDillman Thanks so much for the detailed reply. Yes, I was able to get it working but did have to switch QBO accounts when switching profiles on Scansnap. It works for now, just not as convenient as I had hoped.

Not really a proper "unboxing". What else is in the box? chargers/cables/instructions? Is it enabled to scan folded A3 documents like previous models? More particularly is there an A4 carrier sheet for scanning folded A3 documents or do you have to buy it separately?

Hi John. Please see my other videos on the iX1600 which show the unboxing. Also, no, no iX1600 comes with carrier sheets as far as I know.
