I don't understand. Society can't help that you feel afraid when you're alone with a man. Do you want that all women have bodyguards? Do you want a complete separation of genders? I can see that you might be afraid sometimes I just don't understand what this has to do with how society "treats women". Would you feel safe being alone with an unknown man, if the risk of being raped fell below a certain threshold? Personally I might feel nervous when I'm driving a car because I'm afraid of bad drivers. Should I blame society for that? Why not just the blame the bad drivers?
Hey I suggest talking about this with a woman in your life rather than undermining the experience of a woman on the internet. Both men and women have their own struggles, we should do our best to emphathize with each other, even if we don't understand fully.
As far as society is concerned, the issue is that we normalize "boys will be boys" and under report violent crime against women, especially rape. And when it IS reported, it's a gamble if the man faces any charges--and if he DOES receive any charges, it's usually all too light of a sentence. It may sound like hyperbole, but women live in constant fear. To such a degree that it becomes persisting low hum in the background of our lives we don't always consciously acknowledge. It happens to become a freaking siren when we're alone and recognize that we're in a vulnerable position, such as being alone in a parking lot at night or like in the scenarios in the video. Society CAN help if we start raising men to be better. If we had better systems in place to punish those who do harm to help deter them. The onus of self preservation in a developed country should NOT be solely placed on women. Don't believe me on any of this stuff? Go on ANY true crime channel right now and look at the first 10-15 videos and tell me how many of those victims are women. And yes?? You can blame society for the bad drivers??? We should be collectively holding people piloting a 2 ton metal death machine to a higher standard of following the rules of the road. We can ALSO be mad at the present bad drivers. Both things can be and are true.

It's not just about being alone with a man it's about a man approaching, doing everything to show you're not wanting an interaction and having to worry that that man is going to keep pushing things on you. Also a lot of countries have to have gender segregated spaces because the risk for women is so high. Japan, Brazil, Indonesia, Egypt, Philippines and Mexico has to have woman only train cars/busses because so many women were being molested on trains that instead of catching the perpetrators they just shoved the women in their own carriages. South Korea has women parking spots that are close to the exit of parking lots so they don't have to walk alone in a dark parking lot. You should ask a female friend what her routine is when she has to walk home at night because I guarantee she has lots of tricks like "I keep my keys in my hands so I can defend myself, I have 99- dialed on my phone just incase, I can't listen to music cause I have to be aware of my surroundings all the time. There are multiple products which are used to test for date r@pe drugs or to just try to keep your drink protected, this is because women want to go out and feel safe and want to be able to do things but we know that no matter what we do it's our fault. There was a questionnaire that asked women what they would do if men disappeared for 24 hours the top response was to just go on a walk at night alone.
Yes, you should blame society for bad drivers. The test is way too easy, as is the test for being a male member of society in regards how they treat women. And we as a whole (all genders) do this kind of invalidating shit and it can be even more traumatizing than the actual harassment.
