3:03 I watched the video. The whole time it was a robot on stage. You csn tell because it’s terrible af at lipsynching and basically goes mamamamamama the whole time. But the hands tearing the face are human. If you look closely they are feeling around and the fingers move a lot more than a robot would move its fingers and the arms are hairy. Interesting
Pretty sure the arms and hands on the Lou Reed video were real. They had someone tear apart the face as if the robot was doing it to itself. The hands are way too dexterous to be animatronic.
Most practical way to go about it, really. Stop motion would’ve been tedious with all the damage continuity and the video almost looks sped up just a little so the animatronic jerks it’s head around seemingly faster

Wow, even though back when I was a kid going to 2 Chuck E. Cheese locations (in Illinois at Streamwood (old location, now the site of a bank), and Skokie (now 2.0). Both locations that used to have a 2-Stage)), the Cyberamic animatronics on the 2-Stage didn't creep me out.

I’m not so sure. I have ASD and I find it completely fascinating. I would love to stand in front of it and just move my head. I think it would be good to help people like me become more comfortable with eye contact

The Lou Reed video was a huge thing when it premiered, I remember it...this was the twilight of disturbing videos that came along under the guise of the broadening MTV video world. Lou Reed no stranger to the strange shocked me as a 12 yr old, especially since we were aging to love animatronics at places like Disneyworld, pioneers in the industry. However, just like that scene in Poltergeist ( also released that year) except without the pulp of blood and face muscles. Equally stirring though...
WOW! You talked about Marvin’s!!! We go there all the time!! I love that place there’s so much rich history! I will let everyone know it’s not just old stuff, they also have new games too and classic games, classic pinball, a prize counter etc! If you love anything old that has to do with entertainment you’d LOVE IT!!!! It is just a LITTLE bit hidden in a plaza, don’t give up if you don’t see it!
That first one meant to bring comfort and connection to people from far away? I hate it. It reminds me of the little boy in The Grudge. The Dancer at the end is awesome, but I would be super uncomfortable in the same room with it if we didn't have any direct conversation. I feel like being able to converse with it would make it slightly less creepy, but if I never see that Lou Reed video moment again, it will be too soon. Alternatively, I kind of love the idea of having that technology available in Disney Imagineering with being able to gaze and interact more realistically with guests! As someone who does make eye contact with others (as part of spending many years in customer service jobs), it's a neat thing to imagine being able to feel a sense of humanity with a robot that is NOT designed to frighten people. Imagine that technology being used for a cute little Tinkerbell sitting in a tree near Peter Pan's meet & greet area for example: how fun would that be to see her flitting her wings, kicking a foot, and waving to children while they're saying hello to her? :D

After all this time, I still don't think we actually know who Godley and Creme even got to make that Lou Reed robot. Because I'm pretty sure, being musicians and all, they wouldn't have the expertise to do it themselves. I'm really only saying this because I want to put a name to that robot's torn-off face. Who do we thank/blame (other than the 10cc frontmen) for something so disturbing yet memorable?
This just proves to me my mind is screwed up. The telenoid robot didn't unsettle me because of its face and movements ...but its body. The face looked normal to me, but those stumps...that helpless exsistance...

thank god i have no connections to the human species. So these are all just robots to me . and i have no conecctions to them , because they are not dragon enough or animal enough for me to get a atachment too.
