@@maxwellsgrasscuttingservices fair enough pal, it is really great though considering it’s the “bottom end” of the pro range ! Take care and have a great season mate!🌱
Hi Sam some job you did rake in the seed or add any top soil wasn’t needed I take it like to learn more about this as I never did it myself thanks regards Paul
Bad example this one paul, no top soil was added per the customers directions, but it took ages to come through. Scarify seed and then top dress would be the best practice, the video below is a better example also check the video description for the results. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IqxpBd-vSj4.html
Great job. Did this about 3 weeks ago. Applied a top dressing. Nearly killed me but the seed has germinated and is growing now. Can’t wait. I’ve been luck with the weather. It’s rained daily apart from to days where I’ve had to water. Lawn already took great and has completely lost that mossy sponginess. Can’t wait to see the follow up video! Did you apply any iron? If not would love to know your thoughts on that.
Hi there ! Sounds awesome 🙌🏽 you really have hit great weather ! And now all the temps have crept up we are in for a winner 🙌🏽. How long did it take you in the end 😄? On this one I never no, I normally do but on this one because there was so much I don’t think the IS would of affected any of the bottom layer of moss, although I have mentioned in around 8 weeks applying a feed with iron to take care of any that may be lingering 😄🌱
@@JayRockGroundsMaintenance I have green shoots coming up where there was once thick moss. Keeping an eye on the weather but it’s raining again here today and 16.5C. I’ve fertilised as well and hope to treat any residual moss in September. It took me all day to scarify x 2 and clean up after (2/3rd acre but left 1/3 as is as it looks ok). Spread 50 bags of compost thinly over the seeds. Ordered a Landzie compost spreader but they are on back order so two of us had to spread the 50 bags by hand. Then rolled the lawn after to ensure seed to soil contact. I’ve learned an awful lot watching your videos and reading up what I can online. I really want to hollow tine aerate around September as it’s never been done an apply some more seed if necessary then. Can’t wait to see your follow up video. 👍
@@myopenmind527 oh wow that’s one heck of a job ! Must be a fantastic garden !🙌🏽. That’s brilliant weather for seed though, especially now you have fertiliser down there too. Bravo mate that’s a hell of a job, you’ll be awfully proud when it fully comes through 👏🏼👏🏼🌱
Hi mate, thank you 😄 Exactly ! Either way I was always going for the skip option, it’s somewhere between £75-£100 for a skip, it’s about a 40 minute round trip to the dump from this location ! Definitely wouldn’t have been worth it for how much I would of had to charge 😂🌱
@@JayRockGroundsMaintenance Blimey mate those skips seem pretty cheap, would probably be double that at least down here. You got a backpack blower? speeds up that clearing up loads pal.
@@RJLgardens oh really !? If you Drop it on private property it’s the price I said, but if it’s on the side of the road it’s an extra £60 I believe for a permit from The council 😳. I’ve started just getting customers to sort them as it’s easier and cheaper really. No I don’t pal 😩. I was really unsure of whether too, but after last autumn I think I will get one soon. Which one do you use dude ?🌱
@@JayRockGroundsMaintenance Yeh its nice when the customers crack on and sort that stuff out. Its alot less hassle our end. I use a Stihl BR600 and i wouldnt be without it mate, that would be the minimum power performance blower i would recommend getting, any smaller than that and its not worth the money especially for a pro. You def wont regret getting one.
@@RJLgardens yeah definitely ! Okay mate I’ll look into them 🙌🏽 there was some husqy ones that took my fancy but I just never took the plunge 🌱 cheers again mate 💪🏽
really is crazy! Apparently it was only scarified two years ago too... shows what happens when you take the foot off the lawn care pedal 😂. They are a regular of mine now so I definitely will dude 😄🌱
In all honesty in this regard I’m unsure, could be something with the soil, or build up of thatch content resulting in moss. It was last scarified 2 years ago, but it does get the sun most of the time. I honestly would have believed that it had never been touched with a scarifier before, 2” thick in places. Although because of this I have suggested scarification yearly as well as a quarterly iron sulphate & seaweed treatment, but we shall see 😄
The main culprit is poor drainage. I suspect the soil underneath is compacted, so water sits on the surface for longer. Some species of moss will happily grow in a lawn in full sun, but only if it's wet enough.
Hi mate ! Thank you very much for watching 🙌🏽🌱 the E5 & E6 from Barenbrug would Be perfect ! Normally bent grass or bent and fescue mix 😄 www.barenbrug.co.uk/landscaping/grass-seed
Hi Joseph! Thank you very much 😄🌱. It is the Husqvarna 525BX, it has been fantastic so far, met every need ! Although I think I should still have a backpack blower ! 😂
@@JayRockGroundsMaintenance thanks jay I have the same size of lawn as on the video was just wondering would a backpack blower be better was looking at the sthil 430
@@josephcoagrove580 I think a backpack one is always kind of easier, more power and more comfortable ! But honestly the hand blower is enough I reckon if it’s just your own lawn 🌱😄 hopefully you can get your hands on a demo!?
Hi Robert, thanks for commenting ! Considering this is the starter model 140S it is absolutely fantastic ! Good collection, beautiful cut and very light weight ! Honestly I really like it. I can only think the bigger models with the stronger engines will be even better. Which one do you have your eye on??🌱
Just looking for a third mower and used alot of lawnmowers in my time but seen husqvarna collection ones but seen alot of reviews on them. Probably would go for a mid range
Nice I see, yeah honestly I think it’s decent for being the starter mower, one with a stronger engine would be faultless I believe ! My Weibang 48 pro BBC is my main mower now but the husqy still comes everywhere incase I hit an awkward garden 👍🏼🌱
@@stenchosmells hi mate, no I didn’t, I did advise it but sadly the customer didn’t want to pay the extra, the germination rate probably suffered by 20% at least I believe.. Probably would have needed around 2-3 tonnes on this property to give a light dressing - that’s roughly £180 up here
