Terran players, please do not attempt this at home. This marine micro is done by a trained professional with years of training and wrists made out of unobtanium.
As a zerg.... whos played since starcraft 1.... before brood war. We only really cheese by trying to be greeeeeeedy..... And if ever we start 12 pooling or proxy hatching... we go on a binge with it for weeks 😆 until it stops working.
Someone give that tank commander a medal! I've noticed Byun only seems to ever lose against people who do early all-ins or prioritize denying his medivacs over literally everything else.
probably because beating byun in the late game means matching his micro, and really the only person who can do that is serral. If you let byun get to 200 supply, he'll happily turn 150 of that into bio just to split it against you
Love the best of two format! You can't actually guess who wins the last game based on the duration of the video. Also proud Canadian Scarlett fan here!
33:56 ByuN starting Armor before Attack is usually a mistake of him hitting Armor first when upgrading and not having enough for Attack. He considers this a mistake and makes it quite a lot for the past 2 years actually.
after not watching SC2 for a long time i am pleased to see that Winterstarcraft has really accentuated his accent to my delight and no more husky?! just u and lowko?! im into just a shock here. PEACE AND LOVE!
The map is underwater-themed. So the Ravager is technically floating to the surface. It's intentional. Check the queen at 32:11 and the pieces of the destroyed hatchery.
Surprised Scarlett didn't immediately start a bane nest at 3:20 I've said it before and ill say it again, there is no way having a couple zoning spores even three or four at the edges of main and natural are not worth it. Everyone always loses to the medivac jumping units up and down cliff but they keep not building any spores or enough spores to actually hard stop medivacs. She started to catch on though in that second game. The amount of games I watch Byun win by medivacs hitting the main, back to third, into main, back to third etc. is becoming impractical.
Yeah. Idk why ppl don’t make grouos if like 4 or six of them. Or or two here and there does nothing. SC1 campaign tonight me to cluster my turrets. Idk, maybe it’s not effective or maybe it’s a waste to build more then one or two idk
@@LCInfantry zerg static is the most expensive, it costs a larvae, a drone, and the building cost. BUT there's no way its not worth loosing half your damn base every 5 minutes and having to run back and forth like an idiot.
@@MrCreed145 I know what it costs to make. And I think the cost to make like 5 in a group (in a defendable spot, don’t put them way out in the open all by themselves) is better then l losing stuff all the time to drops. I agree with you
@@MrGeorgeFlorcus I didn’t mean when they are sieged, but when they are on the move they studder step all over the place and never shoot at all and die, they seem very weak if not sieged and most things can counter them when not sieged.
@@jonathanreese5285 I know what you meant, and I meant what I said. Tanks are pretty good. You know you used to have to research siege mode, right? And they were still good, even then. Siege tanks are fine as they are, they don't need help
@@MrGeorgeFlorcus not here to flame, but maybe have a research for moving and fighting like the cyclone? so many units counter the tank anyway when not sieged.
Saying that there are a lot of units that counter un-sieged tanks is similar to saying that there are a lot of units that counter un-stimmed Marines. And unlike siege mode, you actually have to research stim packs. You are saying that a unit which is being used in un-optimal circumstances, for which it is not designed, doesn't generally perform well, and you are correct. That is a design choice, and it is a well balanced one at that. You are suggesting a strict buff to an already very strong unit to make it better in situations it doesn't need to be good in. You can't just unilaterally make a key unit in only 1 race strictly better and not significantly revise the other 2 races in response to compensate for the balance change. Terran Marine-tank pushes in the early and mid-game are already extremely powerful, they're capable of deciding games if done correctly. Giving tanks the ability to shoot while on retreat would dramatically increase the momentum and staying power of these already oppressive and powerful pushes. It might not matter THAT much in TvZ, since Zerg units are very fast, and light, and mostly the things that threaten retreating tanks are Zerglings, who probably don't care that much if the tank can auto-attack or not, but a retreating auto-attack with bonus damage to armored units would be down-right OPPRESSIVE to chasing blink-Stalkers, and Protoss ground in general. And that's only with consideration to Terran bio builds that have tanks in them. Consider the strength of Terran Mech builds with your suggestion, with as many as 8, 10, or even 12 tanks in an army. Way too strong. Protoss would functionally cease to exist as a race without significant compensation.
I am no pro, I am not even a good player! However... I don't understand why ALL zerg will consistently run their entire army towards a marine medivac army lose 10 army supply than turn and run away losing another 10 army supply all the while knowing they have to engage and than 7 seconds later re engage with no new additions and down 20 supply they coulda just continued the initial contact with...
because you'd rather be down 20 supply and zone out until your good units/upgrades come online than lose 100 supply right before 2/2 is done. Strategy is a balancing act between the decision to act and the decision to wait. Scarlett was incredibly close to losing late into game 2 when she begun her transition into ultras, her goal wasn't to beat the army with hers (because she would never win that fight), her goal was to wait til the ultras came out. Despite her being down 40 supply at 37:00 , she had bought herself enough time by zoning out byun as he chewed on her armies (instead of her bases), and once the ultras were out they evened the playing field dramatically. He is actually still up 30 supply while himself running away because a bio ball just doesn't win. The ultras ate the micro, they ate the widow mines, and they ate the marines. But NONE of that would have been possible if scarlett tried to go toe-to-toe against byun's marines. She sacrificed 50+ supply over that minute to transition into ultras, and those ultras proceeded to win the game.
to add to this, if you pay attention at 37:30, byun scans for a fifth base TWICE. He was CONVINCED that scarlett would be broke, and she pretty much was, but because she spent so long zoning out on her one mining base instead of taking a proper fight, she had enough for the transition. the foresight from scarlett to trust her ultras while also not risking an expansion getting shut down (which byun 100% would have done if he saw one) meant that she only had to fight on one front, which, to be honest, is incredible. Props to scarlett, and ggs to both players.
It's important to remember that THAT fight isn't the only thing that's happening. the macro-machine is still grinding away in the background. Upgrades are finishing, tech is coming online, new and better units are being built, and the more time you buy for yourself, the more time those things have to finish. You COULD commit your entire army, like you say, and maybe you might even kill his army. But if you don't, even if he lives with like 8 marines and 2 medivacs, you lose the game, because you have nothing left. Instead, you could take out half of his army, lose half of your army, make him unable to commit to a full on attack, wait for reinforcements, and then quickly replace the units you lost while you have time. People retreat in SC2 for the exact same reason real life armies retreat from battles; because they're not 100% CERTAIN they're going to win. And if you aren't, why waste the resources committing your full strength?
I love Scarlett games. She isn't the greatest at trading in micro, but that macro... oof. She does get caught off guard sometimes with the drops (maybe some spores would have helped to stop the medivacs? I'm not a good enough player to say). But she maximises the creep to full effect. The more purple on the map the better she gets.
spoilers . . I love how evenly matched these two are. Scarlett would've smashed almost any other terran on the planet with her play in these games. Insane comeback by Byun in game 1
@@UnsoberIdiot infestors and vipers don't do well in super scrappy games like that, and the point of that style is to be fighting in a lot of different places with ling bane.
i dont understand xD playing for a long time, but recent years i went back to wc3 a little bit. one of my most fav strats to do proxy hatch, 3-4 ravager, roaches, speedlings. but i always know vs terran i have to go in around 5:30, if i go later there is just too many siege tanks out. really trying to see why the go was delayed by that much. normally she should know its already over at that point.
I don't know. You clearly know more than I do but the thing that surprised me was the lack of AA for Scarlett. Even a couple of mutalisks seemed like they'd be magic against some of those medivacs hanging around, but maybe they're too expensive to make?
Wow, scarlett killed 40+ workers then lost to a terran whose economy was a fraction of the size of her own... It's almost like some spots are too good for tanks to fit against so neatly. Perhaps we could make them more square to increase the minimum surface area
It really SHOULDN'T be surprising that Scarlett can still do so well against the likes of Byun; I mean, she's been at this professionally for over 10 years, she's the best Canadian player of all time, one of the best NA players of all time, and still regularly places decently in major and premier tournaments every year. She's not got the consistency she might have had 5-6 years ago, but she's still got the spark. She can still pull a fast one every once in a while.
She* but nice show of obvious transphobia. Now, in your reply, be sure to tell me how you don't support mental illness and how you hate trans people and how you think they should all be in camps.
Nah winter sc is cool. Ty for this, upload..... id stsrt with what people came here to see... i get why he didnt.... its a series of games... maybe in the title let us know... "second game proxy hatch" 😊 Im a dick, i know 😆 sorry...
I kinda wish she would have put that hatch on the expansion spot and maybe mine just with a few drones. I mean obviously the survival prospect for those drones isn't great but any mineral they mine is mineral Byun won't have access to later when he takes that expo for himself. Also, drones can be turned into spine crawlers.
@41:00 Byun had to end it because even though his army count is about even, he has less econ, he is behind on upgrades, he has almost no medivacs, and no ghosts against fully upgraded ultra, ling, bane, it's not going to end well.
@@parduskotiya There is nothing respectful in participating in someone's delusion. The same way we should not be respectful to the believes of people who think the Earth is flat.
See it just makes me sad that that 130 giga chad tank is literally no better then a tank that just popped out of a factory. Make some sort of reward for trading well please!!
@Nathaniel DePue on the contrary usually you win by throwing away units with an economy lead to deny their economic growth or damage it. Do if you kept your units alive and you traded well enough to get their units over and over but then you die anyways because he has +1/1 or 2/2 and the whole time you can barely afford to match his army and trade properly. I've had game on Terran I lose when I lost 14k resources and they lost 40k+ because I can't expand fast enough (not enough apm too slow) but I check my units at the end and they are all fucking Chad's just popping the fuck off until 1 miss click into banes or too many units and mine just can't match them anymore
@@VeryBadPlayerTV sounds like you're just microing your units way too heavily, try the A button :P for real though, i see no reason why that should be the case. Sure, maybe make them gold or something, but don't offer a gameplay advantage for units that got lots of kills just because they're turtled up on the high ground. That tank didn't "trade well" - it afked on the top of the main and shot at it's own SCV's until everything in the area was dead
