A NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle takes center stage as v twins, S&S Gen 1 and 2, powered drag bikes take on a handful of fast Suzuki Pro Stock Bikes at South Georgia Motorsports Park. We even see a new record as Matt Smith takes his V-twin to a new Pro Stock Motorcycle speed record of 201 mph! The rules vary greatly between these two distinct makes, as the V twins are allowed 160 c.i., about 2600 c.c.s and the Suzukis are limited to about 1800 c.c.s. The Suzukis rev to about 13,000 RPMs, while the Buells rev to about 10,000 RPMs. In this video we will see Matt Smith, Angie Smith, “Flyin” Ryan Oehler, David Barron, Steve Johnson, Joey Gladstone and others mix it up! Enjoy!

The NHRA has completely destroyed the Pro Stock Bike class. Gone are the little guy racers, gone are the little guy engine shops, gone are the Suzuki’s and the Kawasaki’s. Harley & VHR has run of the rule book making it impossible for anything other than a Harley to be competitive . 2600cc’s what a joke! Here is the end result. It needs to be resurrected at the grass roots level. Renew the Suzuki-Kawasaki rivalry. Get the remaining tracks to have a street bike race series . Keep the bureaucracy out.

So you basically have to give the vtwinn an extra cc bump and weigh down the 4 cylinder bike to make it a fair race? What ever happened to run what you brung?

Yes, but the sanctioning body strives to make a salable product, not to be a testimonial to the most powerful engine configuration. Old F1 Bike regs allowed four-stroke engines to run higher displacement than two strokes, F1 allowed V-10’s to run against V-8’s as they transitioned to V-8 only, BUT the V-10 was required to fit an inlet restrictor, and CART allowed 2-valve pushrod engines a displacement advantage over 4-valve OHC engines. Nothing new. The NHRA engine formula seems to work fairly well, given the performance parity. From a spectator standpoint, ProScooter is a very entertaining class...

@@johncarl5505 well it is a problem when you put a cap of 500 CI in prostock for every manufacturer and give harley a 58 cubic inch advantage in prostock motorcycle........ your theory is right out the window. it's more like we want harley to win no matter what.......

@robert fisher Ever heard of "balance of performance", it exists in almost every racing series. So you are in the minority who think it's bad. F1 is one of the few motorsports where the cars aren't equal. Go watch F1, if you're one of those "run what you brung" folks and you will quickly see why NASCAR moved to spec cars.

@@cycledrag Suzuki’s all the way, love those high rpm sounds ....the V twins reminds me of some of those Alcohol dragsters that are fast as hell but sound slow because of the low rpm’s.

The only harley thing about them is the motor design and even then, it’s been altered. I think the cylinders get offset like 30 degrees from factory or something wild like that. Still badass though 😂

I had a street bike many years ago. It was fast for its time - 125mph in 1/4 mile. That bike was scary fast to me. But to go 200mph on a bike in 1/4 mile - no way I would get on one ! (and they are slow compared to top fuel bikes!)

IN 1977,we were at beeline dragway in arizona,we turned 174-5 every time,WITH A 77 cubic inch sportster on fuel..THEN the fateful day came,KOWIE showed up,factory bike,touring the race tracks,showing off,first run,he spun out a 205 first try,I looked at Rodger,I told him,we can't beat these guys,they have too much money,I quit racing that day,we did go to bonniville,set THREE LAND SPEED RECORDS,then went home,that was it for us..just memorys now..and these boys can't pass 205,whats their problem.???

As usual, V-twin engines get a HUUUUUUUUGGGE displacement break. What a bunch of buffalo chips. V-twin engines sound like a Briggs and Stratton engine on crack, and do nothing for me as far as aesthetics and the boring exhaust note.

Weight and when you come off on a drag strip because it’s sticky you don’t slide you roll, so catching knee sliders and other things isn’t the best

It’s true it would be safe, but drag racers don’t crash very often, so they don’t see the need. MotoGP guys might crash every weekend. Drag racers could go a decade or more without a mishap

i had no idea that ebr had an aftermarket. did the aftermarket ever fix the part throttle fueling of these bikes?

Never heard of that name called throttle feeling as a problem but the ebr's are even up with a Ducati on a road course exactly the same price to the penny exactly the same horsepower and there's like a militia I guess you'd call him or more like vigilantes letter hired assailants to destroy the Harley-Davidson motor County Waste they have this year it's it's over don't have to worry about Harley's anymore cuz they won't be making him after this year and I did the same thing to Eric deal every time he's bringing out a new bike well he's still producing for his friends and Close Associates Erik Buell racing and it doesn't have a Harley-Davidson motor in it instead it has a airplane engine in it Primrose tax double overhead cam 9 degree V-Twin what's 180 miles per hour top speed it'll cruise down the Interstate 160 what's not being said here when you set one up for National Hot Rod Association Pro Stock racing you have to use the engine that the National Hot Rod Association Pro Stock racing rules tells you to use or you do not get to race your bike and relax the last 20 years Vance & Hines and their Associates was Association have been keeping both playing fields of the V-Twin stand in line scores he perform within a tenth of a second and a couple of miles per hour either way the closest Moe's Eagle racing there's been in 20 years well this is Nikki people said well is it fair for Harley-Davidson to have a bigger engine than the Suzuki yes it is fair because this is Vicky has twice as many valve twice as many kisses twice-baked powerstrokes and turn 5000 RPMs faster and weighs 40 lb lighter but not anymore as today Vance & Hines and in Tracy NHRA got tired of hearing the crybaby and just this past week they launched a 1850 cc four cylinder 16 valve monster that post over 400 horsepower to the rear tire so there's not going to be any more equal parody in Pro Stock motorcycles anymore it's going to be this new Billet Suzuki special purpose built engine that I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't turn low five or high five as it's all Billet Fancy Nails engine cases jug cylinder head all the way to build is built for one purpose and this goes faster than he has ever gone before this naturally-aspirated and I've been trying to find anything for the last two days on the latest from the V-Twin died of Vance Hines they're not in talking about I don't think we're in going to run one anymore I got to leave that up to the privateers and fend for themselves places I'll never beat that Suzuki the best nice just built and they built it all themselves in house right down the street here for me a 50 minute drive to their shop and Brownsburg Indiana as I just live 15 minutes west of there 00 cycle drag dude sounds meet you at the bait as he believes his information is correct about Harley biker belt has it been raining in Myrtle Park campground well he's right 20 years ago that the reals change every year sometimes twice a year until I bet him $1,000 and he's going to put me on camera and we're going to have our load debate but I'm not going to tell him anything but true stories as right now I'm going to call my buddy Eddie Trawick hereditary Wiki explain to mr. the 4 cylinder engines are not handicapped at all ...here is the facts as cycle drags dont know nothing about them . Anybody had any brains at all he can find out all he needs to know in about 2 minutes by Googling it but he likes to shoot his mouth off about shit he don't have a clue that start nothing but fights and arguments. @@donniebaker5984 first thing I see when I check that link is V-Twin 160 Cubic Inch Displacement ... Inline 4 113 Cubic Inch Displacement. No matter how you try to slice it 47 less Cubic Inched for the inline 4 still looks like a handicap to me. If both motors are limited to 160 Cubic inches, ... or both 113 that would kind of even things up. Now I'm no rocket scientist I'll admit but there can be a lot of hp to be had in 47 Cubic Inches.

Exactly. They are billet pieces of racing v twin. Nothing harley about them. The inlines are literally based on 70's Suzuki technology

There is nothing from the Suzuki's that's original either. And they rev much higher thats the reason for difference. If they were same displacement it wouldn't even be close.

Engines with less cylinders are always given a displacement or turbo advantage. This has been the case with any motorsport. It's a Harley because of the design. Following your logic, those aren't Suzukis either.

no bars and no slicks is why you can not race pro street under NHRA sanction because no bars and no slicks is very unsafe ..street tires after a burn out are unpredictable and with no bars can slip then hook going 20 feet in the air pitching the rider off with bike landing inches away from the rider .thats why jack always says no bars and street tires , he likes to see them crash and gets more views $$$

I definitely prefer the Suzuki’s, I think they play into the spirit of racing better and are superior from a power delivery stand point. I feel like the direction the class is/was going, favoring the Harley’s, is akin to that of the late 60s Mopar aero-cars in NASCAR.

@@mike3684 Check WSBK from the early days to now. Ducati achieved most of its wins because it was allowed a cc advantage due to it being a v twin. Yet no one bashes them, in fact people praise them.

@@johncarl5505 you’re 100% correct, and as an AHRMA next Gen. Superbike racer/fan, I’m (unfortunately) fully aware of how a 1991 gsxr 750 making 115-ish crank HP gets thoroughly out classes by a Ducati 888… (1000cc). I only brought up Harley bc they happen to be the subject of this class…

Suzuki for sure!! I had a couple myself. Much respect for the Harleys but I feel the NHRA created and bent some rules for the twins. That said I love all drag racing but nice to see Suzuki win.

Actually the purple bike is not V&H,, It’s a EBR,, Eric Buell Racing. The guy who had the Buell rice rocket style bikes with the Harley engines in them in the 80s. Harley bought out Buell and then closed down that program unfortunately. So this is Mr Eric’s new adventure in life. And the twins are 2600cc. The 4s are 1800cc mostly billet engines also

The Harleys have rules that are much more suitably favorable for the Harleys to beat the Kawys. The Kawys are beasts. Without restrictions straight up the Kaws would eat them Up. The race guys know it and that’s why they make the rules the way they are.

That's pretty good for a boy your age a very good observation same reason they don't run funny cars and rail Dragsters against Pro Stock cars either cuz double a fuel dragsters and funny cars run over 300 in the quarter there too fast for the class. National Hot Rod Association has rules and regulations that must be met so it's not a free-for-all like you're used to seeing. This class in Pro Stock motorcycles was started by Terry Vance and Matt Hines in 1983 as closely as can be built do the same as Pro Stock cars all naturally aspirated running on exactly the same gasoline from the same pump by the way a Hayabusa advertise quarter mile times is 9.7 seconds in a quarter mile that makes them too slow to run Pro Stock as these guys are running 3 seconds quicker than a Hayabusa and 60 miles an hour faster than a Hayabusa in a quarter mile

set in 2019 as Vance Hine engines are the only ones that are allowed on the track in nhra pro stock v-twin FXDRS Milwaukee eight that angelle sampey Vance & Hines new drag race team member won the us nationals and the 2020 nhra world championship pro stock and ebr pro stock and this year vance&hines will win the National Hot Rod Association Pro Stock Motorcycle drag bike world's Championship this year with a four cylinder configuration that's all liquid Cooled dual overhead cam all Billet aluminum twin swirl combustion chamber four valves per cylinder with no shim buckets on the valve spring trainers but instead have automatic hydraulic adjusted rockers to open and close the valves similar to the first GSX 1100 that were air-cooled as if New Suzuki Pro Stock engine is built under the new rules for 2021 over 1800 CC turning over 13000 RPM with a one-piece steel crankshaft with plain bearing Mains and plain bearing rods and will make 400 horsepower at the rear tire so Harley's will not ever have a chance to Harley-Davidson pulled out of drag racing dirt track racing and 2015 was there last year in road racing they are not sponsoring anybody no contingencies broke their 20-year long contract partnership Vance & Hines and fired the American flat track team not even dealer support no more Screaming Eagles no more performance parts nothing this year they offer three motorcycles and they're all baggers no new models but they're still teasing us with the Pan-American dirt Glide that's completely ugly in a fugly way like in 1957 Sears and Roebuck riding lawn mower they've been bragging about the last five years are coming out at all they will continue running the Livewire as one of those stock OutRunner Tesla in a quarter mile but that will be short-lived as 5 years ago the Skunk Works of Honda called Mugen have an electric bike that is twice as fast accelerating twice as fast on top end and will go twice as far on a charge at top speed and I predict it will be half the cost to Byron as a library something about a Honda that not too many people know that Honda certified technicians like myself who is trained under the instruction of Pop Yoshimura the world's greatest tuner there ever was bar none and Honda does not have to make a profit on any motorcycle they have ever sold since 1959 since that time there has been several models that Honda sold retail for less money than ithen the cost they had in it and they'll do it again and they'll make Harley-Davidson look at silly again and the people who pay $30,000 for one when they get have my Honda twice as fast for half the money and I'll go twice as far as charge will pretty much put Harley-Davidson out of business forever but that's what everybody wants and I really don't give a shit cuz my next Harley-Davidson I'm going to hand build it myself from the ground up like they should have been a single cam gear driven Evo unit construction with the 5-speed transmission bolted to the engine like the last 2017 dyna s made will a 4 and 1/4 inch bore and a three and a half inch stroke was connecting rods about an inch longer than stock intestines that are extremely high pressure extruded diecast that do not expand at all can be fitted as close to the thousandths of an inch clearance between the piston in the center off as Honda in their cars back in I was six out of your eyes found it this type of piston has 4% less coefficients of friction don't have a board like a 572 Chevy and a stroke of an LS Corvette engine now we need is one of those f i Tech plug-and-play stand-alone fuel injectors throttle body MSD ignition box with Nitrous Express dry NOS..with the bore and stroke will be just over 100÷ cubic inches of displacement what's the entire engine dynamically balanced a Precision balance Company of Indianapolis oh yeah and by the way Harley does have a pretty good little trick up your sleeve this year as they finally Tech weather Bonneville Salt Flats record holders the Jim's 131 engine and put it in one of those Softail power Cruisers and it's making 121 horsepower and 135 foot pounds of torque at the rear tire stock right out of the crate no mods at all so it should run like my 2017 117 in Dyna s that made the same horsepower with a stage 4 Kit and I opted out for the off-road racing heads 2 years ago with fresh tts tune at the all out dyno drags 9.6 in a quarter mile at 123 miles per hour against the Hayabusa that turned 9.7 at 130 miles per hour then the conversation sprocket popped off center message to primary chain turn the clutch basket in the gravel Twisted the crankshaft and totaled it as we had the heaviest Duty Screamin Eagle clutch ever made and it's not have to Strong Enough that I'm sure they fixed it right now or maybe not that's the only answer for a big twin clutch is from Baker clutches and Transmissions as his King Kong clutch as he calls it is the same clutch packs with 20 plates out of a Cadillac STS 650 horse supercharged
