In Scream, the School Principal is played by Henry Winkler, who is famous for playing The Fonz in the sitcom Happy Days. In Scary Movie, the School Principal is played by David Lander, who is famous for playing Squiggy in the sitcom Laverne And Shirley, which is a spin off from Happy Days.

Cindy's dad is the 🐐. 😂 "And the sick bastard planted drug all over the house... all over the place" Bro wasn't trying going to prison by any means.

"Oh my God, we hit a boot!" "Where's the foot?" This always makes me laugh. The delivery on that "Where's the foot?" line is just hilarious. Also, the "WAZZZZUUUUUPPPPPP!" was a Budweiser commercial back in the day and this parodied it. This was such a classic!

Probably the most central reference(s) you guys missed were in relation to the movie, I Know What You Did Last Summer. It was a lesser follow up slasher franchise that popped up in the wake of Scream’s success. The references include the basic setup of the kids all being involved in an accidental death that appears to be the killer’s motive, the scene where the girl watches her boyfriend die and everyone thinking she is acting, the “what are you waiting for!” gag, and some other minor jokes. I don’t worry about spoiling any of this, because while the movies are worth watching for camp value they are not very clever, surprising, or original even without spoilers. 😉 lol Love you guys! Keep up the great content! The OMG counter is a great new addition.

Another reference worth mentioning is during the time this movie was released Carmen Electra was dating Dennis Rodman but she also had a brief relationship with Prince in the past. So when the killer says to her "you mean the one that wears makeup and dresses like a woman?" she thinks hes talking about Dennis Rodman. And her saying "Thats not my boyfriend i f**ked him a couple times but that's it" is just her explaining her past relationship with Prince. lol

Simone's reaction to the climax scene has to be the funniest of all time. The disgust on her face was an absolute picture.

The dude who tried to crawl in the window was James Van Der Beek, the actor who played Dawson in "Dawson's Creek" a popular teen melodrama series from the late 90's-2000's. That was the ear worm theme playing in the background. One of the creators of that show, Kevin WIlliamson wrote half of the Screams including the first two. So that cameo is pretty on point. Also, Carmen Electra was involved with both Prince and NBA star Dennis Rodman at different points. Prince had an objectively glam or effeminate fashion sense while Rodman literally crossdressed and wore lipstick.

That OMG count was about what I was expecting!

What I really respect about this movie now is how it holds up as a style parody. If you’ve come across one slasher, no matter how generic, you can still look at this and laugh, even if you don’t get direct references

This movie really showcased Anna Faris comedy chops. Funny that she aspired to be a dramatic actress. Regina Hall shines as well.

Ana Faris was comedy gold for so long. She's in 4 out of 5 of the Scary Movie films. 5 we just pretend doesn't exist lol

The actress who played Cindy (Anna Faris) is totally underrated, she was brilliant in this. I REALLY wish you guys would check out a great little comedy with her in it, along with Uma Thurman, Owen Wilson and Eddie Izzard - My Super Ex-Girlfriend

The original script for the film "Scream" was actually called ""Scary Movie""

One thing not always noticed is that when Doofy escapes at the end, you can see the car he is in stopped at a red light in the background, so he hasn't gotten that far.

I absolutely love the first 3 Scary Movies. Scary Movie 2 is just as solid as the first but really requires the movie The Haunting to get the main reference. Scary Movie 3 requires movies you have already reviewed, so you’re good to go.

The Wayans Brothers created this franchise but they were fired by the Weinsteins after the 2nd one (and the movies got worse and worse), but Anna Farris and Regina Hall really make these movies their own, they’re very talented!

From all the spoof movies from the turn of the millenium there is one that sticks out and is criminally underrated. Take a look at "Not another Teen Movie".

The Wayans brothers (playing Ray and Shorty ) wrote the script. So they wrote the gloryhole scene themselves. They are the writers an actors in the first two movies. The third one was written and filmed without them and is generally seen as the last decent scary movie. Though Cindy and Brenda had recurring roles. Scary Movie franchise started the parody trend in early 2000's. Where studios were pumping low budget parody movies as fast as they could.

The snot coming out the nose part, that was The Blair Witch Project.

Also Sarah Michelle Gellar (TV's Buffy Summers) was the character that Shannon Elizabeth parodied, so it was a natural spoof name. And James Van Der Beek (TV's Dawson Leery) popped in because the showrunner for the Creek was the writer of Scream (Kevin Williamson) so it makes sense he might get his sets mixed up (you know except for the whole Scream being in CA and Dawson's Creek being in NC).

Brenda and Shorty are easily the 2 best characters in the first 2 films and Brenda is hands down the best character in the longevity of the franchise in my opinion. Also, if you rewatch you will see clues for Doofy being the killer scattered throughout the film which, though meant for hilarity, I think are pretty smart for a parody film. For example: 1) On the brick wall when Cindy punches Gale it says "Doofy" on the wall 2) the fact that the killer chose not to kill Gale (the woman Doofy is sleeping with) when he got frustrated while killing the other girl and then killing the camera man that she didn't care for 3) when the killer calls Cindy at Buffy's house and the mom goes to get Doofy the killer on the phone starts freaking out and hurrying to rush off the phone 4) In that same scene you can see how well-endowed Doofy is so later during Ray's death you see he is killed with a penis that is long enough to pass through the hole in the wall and all the way across a grown man's head. I quote this movie regularly, especially the "OMG we hit a boot!" "Where's the foot?!" line. My friend's male dog used to hump the other boy dogs and we used to say "Take it Brandon!" referencing Ray when he was with Brenda in his bedroom. Anytime someone needs help with their vehicle I'm always like, "Y'all need jumper cables?" and when they say no I reply with "Good, because I left my roach clips at home." Lmao

The extreme close-up with all the snot pouring out was a reference to The Blair Witch Project. And as others have mentioned, there are probably more references to I Know What You Did Last Summer than there are to Scream. It's a combination of the 2. Worth a watch for the unintentional comedy.

Classic. Parts 1 and 2 are unmatched

The first two instalments in this series are some of the finest parody film-making since the Airplane! movies. The third is also quite good, then they drop off substantially from there. For a great add-on, watch the Bloodhound Gang video "The Inevitable Return of the Great White Dope"...awesome tune.

This movie was so funny. I believe I was in high school when this came out. I remember this was the first time I saw Anna Farris in anything, and I had a huge crush on her. Plus, she was really good in this. Her comedic delivery is spot on. I loved her in The House Bunny, too.

I don't remember which scene you asked about but the second most referenced movie story wise was "i know what you did last summer" (the car accident or incident rather) but they replaced summer with Halloween. It follows a similar path as Scream. If I'm not mistaken they even made fun of the title of the sequel "i Still know what you did last Halloween" Love the omg counter, i would've counted the times she said "Jesus" too, its like mixing scream and i know what you did longest movie name ever

I went to watch that one in theater with friends. In those years cell phones were becoming mainstream, along with a new kind of nuisance. I remember when the noisy girl in the movie gets caesared by the rest of the patrons, a group of slightly disruptive people behind us suddenly fell silent as others in the hall (including the friend next to me) intently clapped. Priceless!

I remember seeing this in a packed theater the week it came out. Still one of the best theater experiences that I've had. The entire audience was roaring with laughter throughout. I'm glad you guys found it hilarious too.

Great reaction CineBinge! In the scene where Brenda got stabbed in the movie theater is a reference to Scream 2! The joke reference of Carmen Electra and Prince was due to them dating at one point! This initial era of satire / parody movies was so good. And then it went downhill. Bur everytime i rewatch this movie im reminded of how young i was when i first saw it. I was TOO young for this humor. Also Ana Faris is also amazing at House Bunny.

This film was directed by Keenan Ivory Wayans, whose relatives Shawn and Marlon were also in the movie. Keenan was the creator of the show In Living Colour (which made Jim Carrey a star)

I knew George would love it and I loved getting all those "Oh my god"s from the adorable Simone during the movie.

Oh yeah Anna farris getting hit by the camera was a reference to Matthew lilliard getting hit by the telephone by accident at the end of Scream.

So, Carmen Electra is the woman at the start of the movie. She was in Playboy, but was also on TV. Dawson's Creek was the TV show you were trying to remember in which the main character would climb into another character's window all the time. And, I Know What You Did Last Summer is all about kids killing some dude on the road, hiding the body and then bad things happen with a guy killing people with a big hook.

I remember people in school quoting this movie far too much. You'd be having a conversation with a friend and you'd think it was a serious talk about their situation and then they'd go "does this shirt make me look gay?" it got old fast. I still absolutely love this movie, and watching it with the uninitiated, particularly people too young to have experienced the wild days of the 90's to 00's, they almost always get super shocked at how the humour was back in the day.
