Amazing work! I'm a retired bus driver, worked for Greyhound in 1972-73, but moved to city buses when Greyhound wanted to force me to uproot my family from California to Texas. I continued driving buses, city, suburban, charter, and tours... all around the Western USA until health knocked me down in 1996. I'm 67 now, my health is better and the doctor says I could get a commercial license again if I wanted to work. And I do, I just don't want to drive a school bus! Lol. Greyhound had already retired it's Scenicruisers by the time I worked for them, but I drove a lot of the old "Buffalo" style GM's, with a non-synchro 4 speed tranny. Later in tours and charters, it was mostly MCI MC-8's and MC-9's, and a few 102DL3's up to 1996. I still have pictures of a friend's old restored Scenicruiser from a 1985 "Bus Bash" show in Las Vegas. Best of luck with your project!

Very impressive. I have never seen big truck tires removed from rims so easily. Your restoration effort is impressive too. I love old buses and especially the Scenicruisers (such a unique history of these great vehicles). I have restored boats and cars so I know some of what you are facing. You have a good start but this is a massive project, I hope you can persevere and get this grand old lady back on the road.

That tire R & R drill brought back a lot of memories for me. A lot of hard work , I wonder why he didn’t have a “ we called” a gold bar for popping the bead seat, no matter got the job done, he’s done a few tires over the years.

When I worked at Greyhound as a mechanic 2 guys would pull that engine in a 8 hr shift and the next time you do one pull the left side tires and chain the axle up and remove the Jake that way you can get under the bus easier.

The world over, truck tyre guys are thin wirey types of enormous strength. This guy epitomizes the archetype lol. You know, with things going the way they are in the vehicle restoration world, you're creating something of real value. I just thought I'd mention it. These projects have a kind of synergy - nothing much seems to happen then all of a sudden you're driving down the road in something that steers, drives and goes better than almost anything comparable. For a number of years I been watching this project and I have to say as a qualified mechanic that I am starting to feel the synergy. Starting it up, you should be very careful because GM 2 strokes can fire with hardly any rotation of the starter. Awhile ago (>10years) I had to start an 8V92TT that had been sittling for about 15 years. The truck it was in was involved in a serious accident and was just sitting there with the radiator and cab completely destroyed. Long story short, I connected a jerry can of fuel to it, and squirted 1 shot of Aerostart into the induction and just tapped the battery on the starter and it started right up. Yours shouldn't runaway if the motor is in good mechanical condition. It can happen on turbo ones or if the rack is wide open. Don't forget straight 30 wt oil. 2 stroke GMs don't like multigrade oil and they also have no tolerance at all to overheating. Just make sure the oil and water is good.
@Shane-Singleton

I was incredibly impressed by the tire guy. You can tell when somebody really knows what they're doing when they can take something like that and make it look easy when it'd take me all day, at least 2 energy drinks, and a likely trip to the clinic for stitches. Fellow in this video was a beast! Loved watching him work.

Holy Crap this guy knows what he is doing i never thought that could be done as easy as fast as he got that done what a amazing job when someone knows what they are doing I was as. Impressed o how quick you got those big tires to seal on the beads ive Changed auto and trailer tires manually and had trouble getting them to seat even using ratchet straps around the tire that a od mechanic told me to try i had a small holding tank system at that time and i think that was my problem I am enjoying you videos Iike you i get fired up on the old buses as well hope you keep posting I would encourage you to start up your engine as i have had older cars and boats in my life and the longer they sat idle the harder and more costly they were to get back to running condition plus it keeps you in a good frame of mind. Knowing what you have and even maybe tweaking and fixing things as you go along plus you strike me as a guy that is in it out of love. For the od girl anyway ? And each. Time you know just a little bit more of what makes. Her tick you will be benefitting yourself i the long run

thanks for the update ,, i love these old buses , , after nearly 20 years of looking i finally bought one ,,,I'd really love to find a PD4501 too but i recently within the last couple made a deal on a 1948 PD-3751 silver-sides motor coach which has already been turned into an RV ,, it's been 40 years since it was done but it was done very well and everything is in good condition ,,I'm now in the process of updating the plumbing and RV electrical systems ,2 new gas/electric water heaters 20 gallons each ,new double RV furnace,new 4 burner RV stove I also just installed a double 6.5KW APU system for 13KW of onboard power 120/240V ,,and 300 amps of 12/24V DC power too this system when running provides hot water for hydronic heating , keeping the bus engine warm , and also hot water as welland air conditioning i also added a bank of ten 120 amp hour dry cell batteries for a total of 1200 amphours DC backup power along with the associated inverter/chargers ,,and the added capability of adding solar panels later in the future it's totally self contained ,and when at a campground i can use either a 30 or 50 amp campground post

I applaud your enthusiasm! good job! and keep it up! ... that said, i love old buses and have had a few and have one good piece of advice that they dont tell you about. A bus is heavy equipment, and you really need heavy equipment to work on one. I'd suggest saving your pennies and scouring craigslist for a pneumatic tire big old forklift. a few grand for an old slow leaker that still functions will save you dozens of back aches, heart aches, busted knuckles, and many swear words. I watched your video of how you got the engine back in and it hurt to watch. that would be a few minutes with an old forklift. ...just saying. Again, keep up the good work, and thank you for bringing an old classic back on the road for

Great to have you posting again! In inflating tires, you will find that the only real danger involved is in inflating tube type tires on the old "widow maker" 2 piece or 3 piece rims. Using the now more common tubeless tires, no danger, assuming good tires (new or newish). I still stand off to the side, however!
