[Link in description] The Schagerl JM2 (James Morrison) trumpet is amazing! The twin tube leadpipe sets this horn apart from other trumpets at this price point.
The James Morrison Meister series trumpet is in an incredible handmade horn, but the price can put that instrument out of reach for many players. This JM2 is a fully professional trumpet at a more affordable price, giving you a really great value for the money.
You can check out our JM2 listing here: www.austincust...
The twin tube leadpipe is basically a nickel silver sleeve over the leadpipe. This protects the horn against redrot, and the nickel adds a lot of stability and responsiveness to the feel of the horn. The valve trim has some design nods to the old Besson and Benge designs. The block itself is a CarolBrass block that Schagerl then works on (CarolBrass blocks are favored by many boutique trumpet builders for their incredible quality and consistency).
Check out the sculpted tuning slide brace! This is just a beautiful horn.
This horn is geared toward more commercial environments, but certainly could be used for classical playing as well.
The gold brass bell gives you a little more warmth the the sound and roundness to the articulations. Personally I prefer the response of Sterling silver or nickel bells, but there are always trade-offs with every design choice. This horn could be the perfect choice for a lot of players! Especially if you're a jazz soloist going for some Clifford vibes for example.
Bottom line: it's a really fun trumpet. I had to record the video while I had the chance because this model always sells fast when we get one into the shop.
The JM2 is also the centerpiece of one of our ACB bundle deals, our "Down Under" bundle. Check it out here: www.austincust...

This was one of the best videos I have seen from ACB. I liked the fact that you included some personal drawbacks you have with this instrument. That is very informative to me as a player. It helps. Why? Because your drawbacks might be the exact thing the next guy wants and is looking for in a trumpet. You play an instrument as your main horn with a main mouthpiece for a reason and we would like to hear why you are not playing another instrument or mouthiece as your main set up. In my opinion, it is not downgrading the model or the instrument, but you giving personal feeling about the instrument and your preferences that give the next player valuable information to make a solid decision in their trumpet choice. I loved that you included that personal bit in this video. I actaully can name people I know who would prefer this instrument over all the other instrumets you have featured here. They will be getting links from me to this video. Great job. Great information, Great sound. Oh and one more thing. Those drawbacks you think we can hear in your playing rarely come out in the video. They are too subtle for us the listener to pick up on in a RU-vid video. Sitting in the room, we might here it, but not here. Thank you again for another great video.

I still love my 50 year old well played and worn Benge and I also love my 1950s vintage Martin Committee C Trumpet that is just wonderful to play. There are some good modern horns being produced by a few really dedicated craftsmen but with the boutique price levels these days, a fine vintage horn can be an incredible horn if the price is right of course. That being said, a few contemporary trumpets out on the market are really interesting and wonderfully designed and crafted instruments even an old player like myself would certainly enjoy playing. Great honest comments and analysis of your critique of this and all your presentations and reviews. Thanks.
