It's really hard to find something unique today in music, something which speaks the language of the unknown or ancient wisdom, born from the darkest abyss of the human soul. This music brings back the feeling of mystic, the presence of sacredness in every movement of the wind and rays of the moon. I like the experimental approach in music, it makes this band especial, unique and unrepeatable.
Well said, Tanya. I am also always longing for some meaningful type of music of which such experience can freely transport me to my inner and primal depths....Generally, such darkness are hidden behind the external layers of normality and the so-called "reality" . (It is hard and frustrating to return from there sometimes). Thus, music for me is a ritualistic experience for my soul with which I keep sacred and genuinely love to evoke. Stay well!
Was ein schöner Tag.
the climax of the first arc of “triangle” on 200ug fucking sent me to space. “awakening from the dream of life” gives me full-body chills every time i hear it now.
Definite AOTY contender for me. Just when I thought they couldn’t go any further with their sound, they release this. These guys have become one of my favorite bands of the 21st century, and I’m very excited for the 2nd chapter
Don't get me wrong, my friend introduced this band to me as a "Behemoth rip-off", but further into discography, and especially on this album I can differently say that Behemoth now sounds more like a SCHAMMASCH rip-off )))
This is an hour of recycling the atmosphere of Triangle without having the musical dramaturgy of said album. Just, sadly very forgettable, ambientish noodling around in reverb. Triangle truly was a magnum opus, where everything had it's rightful place, there was a grand tension arc throughout the whole thing, whereas this album in comparison is a ruined orgasm; it doesn't really know when to climax. Sorry to say, I hold especially Triangle, and also Contradiction very dear, but this, even Maldoror Chants 1 - Hermaphrodite before, just seem rushed in a way. Especially the tension arc is sorely missed on both efforts, and I do not understand why both get so much praise, being released after an album as grand as Triangle. And Paradigm of Beauty imo just doesn't really fit onto this album, or this band at all.
Mahmoud jahen It‘s not really „brighter tones“ I have a problem here. Triangle had the same overall, brooding and dark atmosphere, but was still memorable. Songs would get stuck in my head for days. And there was an arc of tension to the album. Everything since and including Maldoror Chants: Hermaphrodite is just forgettable noodling around with no real purpose. Sure, this album had one or two songs that you could kind of refer to, but Maldoror was a 30 minute intro.
I think they have reached a milestone. And tbh, I think they wanted to create another album with their newfound cemented style from Triangle, just pure mastery to behold. I would love for them to become more experimental with more drone style like albums, I think they have it in them to give a fuck. But they need to keep the money floating as well :) I think they are aware of it, so their ep's will probably focus on more experimentation. While the full releases this coming decade will stay with this style probably.
@@eccer I don't think "money" and the broad spectrum of death/black metal should be uttered in the same statement. I see a lot of comments on YT where people think these types of bands make a lot of money. They don't. I suppose the idea of "a lot of money" is subjective and if the band as a whole is bringing in say $200-300k annually, that might seem like a lot of money to a kid working a shit job at Wal-mart or fast food somewhere. But in the US, even $100k for each bandmember is not "a lot of money". It's a nice side hustle if you already have a primary income. But $100k as your sole income is not a lot by any means unless you want live as a minimalist and are content renting an apartment or a townhouse. $100k a year disappears pretty quick after taxes, insurance, and any kind of retirement contribution. Death/black metal bands aren't living the Motley Crue lifestyle with sold out arenas, playmates, and enough money to buy your way out of jail for killing your friend. It's a rough gig and for not a lot in return. Unfortunately, in today's world you don't make shit off record sales cause no one buys the album, it's just whiny brats on YT crying cause the album isn't on Spotify and Spotify doesn't pay bands shit. Sorry for the lecture, just a long way of saying, don't be fooled thinking these guys are millionaires and the label or money influences any of their musical decisions. Money can't influence your musical style, if you're not making enough money on the album to begin with. These guys are merely putting out albums because they love it and love this genre, so you have to accept that this is the album they wanted to put out, not the album they had to put out. There's maybe a handful of death/black metal bands out there making enough money with a big enough fan base where they have to put out "safe" albums. Schammasch isn't one of them.
