Nice review, I really appreciate the fact that you're playing through some decent equipment. The other reviews I found for the Schecter Omen S 2 didn't sound like they had the best amplification set up.

Nice demo track. I prefer how the Schecter looks, nice looking guitar. I happened to see a seriously badass looking SG model yesterday, a rare Gibson model with a top mounted floyd on it - Gibson SG CM - Floyd Rose FRX. A discontinued rare model, I had no idea top mounted floyd roses existed. I don't know if they're worth bothering with what with being expensive and not necessarily quite as good as a standard floyd, but interesting to know they exist.

Nice comparison, I prefer the shape of the ESP as it still looks like an SG, just with a slight offset and I do like the matching headstock and neck.. The Schecter is a little jarring to me as an SG/Strat hybrid that does not quite gel with me and the natural wood of the neck against the stark white looks off to me. Might work better with a different colour from Schecter. I think a session with the micro-mesh pads will tone down the gloss neck enough on the ESP to solve the stickiness issue. Sound - I think I like the Schecter a bit more, but that's just my preference.

That's interesting cuz I liked the Viper's tone more! It just sounded a bit more energetic and piercing to me with the leads and a bit clearer for rhythm

If you jump up to the Schecter S-II Custom, it's not even a contest. Set neck, flame body and USA Pasadena pickups just to name a few upgrades.

I do agree that the S-II Custom would be way better. I love the tone of Schecter pickups so far (Super rock II and San Andreas) so I'd love to play those Pasadena :)

The Viper 256 will be easy to find on retail but the Omen S II is discontinued and pretty hard to find on the used market. Good luck !

I love sg shaped guitars. But i just can't look at viper, it's some kind of uncanny valley effect, and i feel the same with all offset sg. But strangely enough with s-II I am totally ok (but more like with pointy superstrat than actual sg)

Esp/ltd IS schecter... both own and ran by Hisatake Shibuya...

Hisatak Shibuya doesn’t want these two brand to be identical and if you tell him that ESP LTD is Schecter, he’s gonna kick yoUr teeth down your throat ! These 2 brands are more and more different and that’s fine. Go watch the guitars on both websites and just read ! Fortunately for us guitar players, the quality is very good in both brands.
