Much longer video, on my impressions of this little inverter generator.
Currently reduced even further to £74.99
Sounds test reading at close range of 79db to noisey for a campsite but perfect budget option for OFFGRID and charging battery bank for a campervan.
At 6 mtrs away 65db would be too offensive while watching TV in a campervan. Obviously longer extension cable would reduce the noise heard.
overall score for build quality was 6 out of 10 because of weak metal on the choke switch.
Overall score was 7 out of 10
Long term video will follow in 3 months.

A very simple tip: Never trust the letters in the advertising brochures. Especially this paper is very patient. Always read the instruction manual before purchasing. What's not in there, the device doesn't have either.

Liked and subbed by the way. I love your down to earth approach.

Appreciate that. I've realised so many reviews are hugely biase. Amazon tend hate negative reviews. I was even be contacted by Blackview the phone manufacturer, if I changed my review from 1 star to 5 stars they would send me a free phone. So I'm going to be honest as possible.

Now that we're a year or so on, how have you got on with this? Mine's still in the box unused for emergencies. I'd get it out and play with it, but I imagine that it'll deteriorate if used once then not used for years.

Think the 1000w rating is for the Socket outlet not the generator, for safety. They wouldn't fit a lower rated socket to the unit. Same as wiring in your home, a UK socket is rated at 16A but you can only pull 13A. (BTW just bought one.... the price went lower)

Mine has proven to be very reliable. Use most days with gold old fashioned e10 and 10w40 oil. It's actually got quieter the more I've used it. The comments I get from most people is It's too noisey and not reliable But it £80 not sure what they expected

@@sun-sea-solar Bought it for using small SDS drill in remote areas for work, so noise shouldn't be a problem. And the price dropped to £74

I ran a 1100 mitre saw but dropped the output at the socket to 550w so I guess the saw was just spinning slower. As I said before it has been reliable. Just check the clip holding on the choke. A guy pulled the choke out and it came off.

How much gas do you need for an hour of running a generator under load?
@sun-sea-solar

£5 bought me about 2.5 litres of fuel that lasted about 2 hours

Thanks so much for giving a really good run down on this genny. I've never touched one but at this price I couldn't not buy one. Please can you tell me what 4 stroke petrol means? Will it run off standard car unleaded?
@sun-sea-solar
@sun-sea-solar 3 года назад
They've changed the fuel in the UK recently to E10. The manual states it can't run on this fuel. But as the information in the manual is completely hit and miss, I filled it with standard unleaded and it seems fine.

Hopefully it keeps working. Sounds like the instructions really underestimate it's ability.

@@sawdustandsurvival I have re tested the generator with a watt meter. Unfortunately the manual is wrong it one work at 1000 watts. Maximum continously use is 730 watts

Excellent video - especially about the fiddly choke and power output differences. Any reason why you didn't 'ground' the unit when in use?
@sun-sea-solar

Can't remember seeing a earthing point on the generator. But might of missed it.
@pateril
@pateril 2 года назад
@@sun-sea-solar There's an earthing connection (marked no 4 on Figure 1 in the instructions). It seems most folk don't bother earthing yet the instructions say to connect this to an external ground. I spoke to a guy today who sells generators and he was a bit puzzled why a generator would need a separate external earth. Maybe its something to do with non-UK electrics having two rather than three pin set-ups? So farat least I've not been electrocuted!
@sun-sea-solar
@sun-sea-solar 2 года назад
I used it most days with my mitre saw and definitely hasn't had any residual static electricity build up. So I'm not sure why they have them.

If the portable generator is providing electric power to a structure by connection via a transfer switch to a structure (home, office, shop, trailer, or similar) it must be connected to a grounding electrode system, such as a driven ground rod.

I've got 10w40 in mine aswell will be sane thickness when warm anyway. 10w40 was far cheaper. You said normal unleaded is fine it dies actually state not to use e10 in manual .

Thanks for subscribing, I'm still using e10 in mine. Not sure why but mine is still running on e10 because it's the only fuel I can get. I've ran it every day and had no issues.

@@sun-sea-solar yeh it will run on e10 it's more that it's corrosive so to speak it can damage seals and stuff causing issues .

@@HA05GER I read something similar. I've weighed up the pros and cons. Decided I'll carry-on using the e10 because it's not available in our local garage. If I get 1 or 2 years out of the generator then I've done ok.

@@sun-sea-solar yeh I may do the same as cost £9 to fill up a Jeri can with the premium. A generator is quite expensive way of producing energy no point in making it worse .
